2K antes up poker pros
Upcoming World Poker Tour game will feature stone-faced card sharks Erick Lindgren, Evelyn Ng, Phil Laak, and more.
Recently, poker pros have been making their keep not just on the felt-top. The sudden explosion of poker has lead to the gamblers hawking how-to DVDs, poker apparel, and, of course, the rising tide of poker-themed games.
2K Games announced the roster of poker pros whose faces and poker trickery will be lent to the upcoming game World Poker Tour. Poker fans can take a seat at a table with Erick Lindgren, Evelyn Ng, Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi, Lyle Berman, Antonio "The Magician" Esfandiari, Phil "The Unabomber" Laak, Mike Sexton, Vince Van Patten, and actress/poker player Mimi Rogers.
WPT hopes to capture more than just the personas of the television show it's based on, with six casinos featured on World Poker Tour. Gamers can play cards in Californian gambling spots The Bicycle Casino, Commerce Casino, and Bay 101, as well as Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in New Jersey, The Aviation Club in France, and Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut.
World Poker Tour is on schedule for release on the Xbox, PlayStation 2, PC, and Game Boy Advance this fall, and it will appear on the PSP next year. For more information on the game, check out GameSpot's recent impressions of the game.
