Half-Life 2 finds Lost Coast
Valve releases single-player level showcasing new tech for Source engine; content designed for high-level PCs.
Valve today announced that Half-Life 2: Lost Coast, bonus content for the company's popular first-person shooter, is now available for download via Steam. The add-on features one single-player level meant to show off some new technology incorporated into the game's prized Source engine.
The new tech is high dynamic range lighting, which amps up the high bar of graphics already set by the shooter. Valve admits that old rigs have no place trying to run the level and that system requirements are "very high." Valve's download service, Steam, will prompt would-be players if their CPUs do not meet the company's minimum requirements.
Half-Life 2: Aftermath, the first full expansion to the game, is still in the works. For more on Lost Coast, check out GameSpot's hands-on preview.
