Metal Slug loaded onto PSP

SNK Playmore to shoehorn six installments of 2D arcade shooter series onto one UMD this fall.

In meetings with GameSpot, SNK Playmore this morning confirmed that it will celebrate the 10th anniversary of its Metal Slug series of 2D shooters with a PSP compilation set for release this fall.

The Metal Slug Collection will include six full games on one UMD: the original Metal Slug, Metal Slug 2, Metal Slug X, Metal Slug 3, Metal Slug 4, and Metal Slug 5. SNK Playmore is promising perfect translations of the arcade classics, as well as wireless support for two-player action.

Originally released on the NeoGeo home-and-arcade platform, the run-and-gun action franchise has found its way onto the Sega Saturn, PlayStation, PlayStation 2, and Xbox. It's no stranger to gaming on the go, either, having received makeovers for mobile phones, the Game Boy Advance, and the NeoGeo Pocket Color.

    the psp lineup is looking very good this year, its a must buy, can't wait, hopefully others will follow suit.

    metal slug is awesome. I just wish they could somehow use the entire psp screen without stretching the game image to be distorted.

    I don't think Metal Slug will have any problems running on a PSP! it's only a damn 2D game! no rocket science.. and don't worry about the size, it will fit! the game is small in size and don't ask me how I know

    It's not as though a Metal Slug game takes up much space at all.... they can easily be fit on one UMD regardless of whether or not they emulate.

    The multiplayer mode is gonna be the big sell point for this.
    Its an awesome idea, but i agree that its disappointing that Xbox and PS2 owners have to pay for each game separately.

    al 6 games on 1 disc? oh yeah but they only released two on the xbox with metal slug 4 & 5. this makes no sense

    Cool, but the best PSP can hope for is a port? Don't get me wrong, I love Metal Slug and this game helped me through college, but I don't know if this game makes it worth the money for a PSP.

    Wow that is just sweet! the 5 games in just 1 UMD this will be a MUST HAVE for PSP owners and an excuse to buy the PSP for others!!! YOU HAVE DO IT AGAIN SNK!!! Lets hope to hear more fom SNK for the PSP CoughKingOfFightersCough....CoughCollectionCough.....

    i guess the question is will there be online play chances are there will be multiplayer (hopefully) anyways online play could be real fun and bring back and arcade feel to the game by playing along someone
