GameSpot UK launches
If you're a UK-based GameSpot reader, you'll have found that you're now reading GameSpot UK.
For some time now, readers in the British Isles have been asking for more coverage of games and news coming out of the UK and Europe, as well as more services such as competitions for our UK audience. Today's launch starts the process of bringing just that to GameSpot readers.
So what's different about the UK site? Most significantly, there is a dedicated London-based editorial team that is focused on delivering more coverage of the UK and European gaming markets--expect to see more news, previews, and reviews from the UK--and coverage of games will be based around UK release dates (although the US release information is still available to UK readers, via the "Related games" information in the gamespace).
Readers outside the UK will notice no difference, although there will be news, previews, and reviews written by the UK team appearing on GameSpot.
On GameSpot UK, you will find all the usual GameSpot content and services. Registered users and Total Access subscribers will find that their profile, membership, and access rights remain the same.
GSUK has partnered with Play.com and SwapGame.com to provide you with local services if you want to buy or rent a game, and the site will be running competitions for UK readers to win games and other prizes (one lucky winner will take home an Epiphone guitar in our Guitar Hero competition, which starts today).
Building up GameSpot UK will be an ongoing project after it goes live, and the editors would like to hear more of what readers want. There is a UK forum where readers can air their thoughts, communicate with the UK team to suggest ways in which the GameSpot UK experience can be made better, or just chat about games with other UK readers (with access to all the other forums so that connections can be made with gamers from around the world).
Please, tell us what you think of the site by heading for the forums. And welcome to GameSpot UK.
Cheers!
