Tenchu PSP hits Europe at end of June

Sega announces the handheld version of its stealth franchise, featuring added "realism and entertainment".

Sega Europe has announced the European release date of the forthcoming PlayStation Portable exclusive, Tenchu: Time of the Assassins. The stealth action game will be available from June 23 and will feature full 3D environments.

Veterans of the PlayStation 2 franchise will notice enhanced stealth actions and new kill moves as well as the classic Tenchu characters Rikimaru, Ayame, Rin, and Tesshu.

Each of them will have a unique story in the single-player campaign, and there are 50 further stand-alone missions to play through as well. Gamers will also be able to connect wirelessly to play missions cooperatively or head-to-head.

According to Matt Woodley, creative director of Sega, the game's ambition is to "offer all the strategy of a stealth game but none of the frustration". With this in mind, every enemy in the game can be killed using stealth tactics, including the bosses.

We'll have more on the game nearer its release.

Four characters in a tenchu game? All part of one story? Story-continuation? boo-yah!

Hope they fixed the freaking draw distance from the Japanese release, you could barely see like 10 feet in front of you.

This, like the theme of the game, kinda sneaked out of nowhere... Still, I'm going to look forward to seeing how well it survives the transition to the PSP hardware. Tenchu/Tenchu 2 was two of my favorite games for PS1, and the Xbox version of Tenchu 3 also pwned... Heres hoping....

Europe getting a game before the United States? That's strange. Oh, well, I wonder when it will be realesed in the U.S.

I dont think (GTA aside) the PSP has EVER been able to do any PS2 franchise justice on the PSP (and dont say Daxter did becuase that was NOTHING like the PS2 Jak and Daxter Games)

Nice, maybe I'll have enough money to pick it up

And well, PSP sales probably did better in Europe than in the US? In the UK the PSP launch was the most successful console launch ever
