Disney renames game group

House of Mouse declares Turok publisher Buena Vista Games now called Disney Interactive Studios.

Buena Vista Games is undergoing a name change, as parent company Disney today announced that the publisher would henceforth be known as Disney Interactive Studios. In addition to releasing games under the Disney brand, the company will make use of the Disney-owned ABC and Touchstone brands to sell its games.

The publisher's senior vice president and general manager Graham Hopper said in a statement that, "This change reflects our focus on creativity, the weight of Disney content in our portfolio, and the enormous value consumers see in the Disney brand."

The publisher has released a number of high-profile games in recent years, including Lumines II and Desperate Housewives, and it is currently working on The Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End, Turok, and Spectrobes.

they probably cemented the change in place after hearing about Windows VISTA. Didn't want people to get confused with them, or having any lawsuits thrown around over a simple name.

LAWL!! A publisher name that doesn't even suit the intense violence that turok is known for... wow...just wow... can't wait to see the opening credits of this game

but still, I am still filled with nostalgia and is dying to play this game really bad.

Buena Vista was a cool name. But I don't think that a new name will change the quality of the games so it's all good.

As far as the name change I don't really care, but this has absolutely nothing to do with the next Kingdom Hearts.
(I do hope they have one on the Wii though.)

I hope that this doesn't mean the company will now shift directions and published nothing but Disney-themed games. I know there some upcoming games that aren't Disney themed, but what happens after all those projects are on the shelves?

Omg! Disney is not "making" the game, they are just publishing it which means "giving them money and selling the game" (them being propaganda games). Do the investigating before you start crying.

  • Reetesh

  • LordAndrew

Why did they feel the need to change their name again? I don't think I'd be able to tolerate buying a game with Disney's name on it.

  • mike_515

OMG how can a Turok game be owned by Disney. Disney is a kids company Turok is a grown up blood guts and gore game, and if they take away all the above i shall be very annoyed because thats what makes Turok. If i see one fluffy mouse as im shooting at dinosaurs im taking the game back.

WILL YOU PEOPLE GET OVER YOURSELVES???!!!!!!1111oneoneeleven

Do you honestly think they are that stupid to use the Disney name for Turok? Did you people even READ the article?

"In addition to releasing games under the Disney brand, the company will make use of the Disney-owned ABC and Touchstone brands to sell its games."

In other words, they won't be using the Disney name for something M-rated like Turok. They'll probably use the Touchstone name or something.

Good grief. RTSA (Read the Stupid Article)!
