Haze PS3-only in '07

With Killzone 2's release date still very much up in the air--more information is expected at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in July--it looked like there would be no PlayStation 3-exclusive first-person-shooter counterweight to Halo 3 this fall.

That is no longer the case.

This morning, Ubisoft revealed that the PS3 is now the "lead platform" for Free Radical's forthcoming shooter, Haze. Originally set for a release on the Xbox 360, PC, and PS3 this spring, the game will now debut solely on the PS3 this fall.

In fact, the fact sheet provided by Ubisoft no longer lists the PC or Xbox 360 versions of the game, prompting some speculation that it may become PS3-exclusive. The UK Haze site for the game also only bears the PS3 logo, although the American Haze site still sports the Xbox 360 and PC-DVD logos at its bottom.

When contacted by GameSpot, Ubisoft reps were somewhat cagey. "Haze is leading on PS3, but no exclusivity for any platform has been officially announced," a spokesperson said. This leaves open the possibility that the game could arrive on the 360 and PC sometime in 2008.

Set in the year 2048, Haze foresees a near future where megacorporations dominate the planet with private armies. Players assume the role of a soldier for one corporation, Mantel, which outfits its troops with high-tech weaponry and biomechanical serums.     Oh look, its Halo3/Army of 2 for PS3. It looks nice but why would I switch to PS3? Also, looks like the dudes are wearing a catcher's chest protector.

    So far, buying a PS3 has been a waste of money due to the earlier releases of XBOX 360 titles. Now I can justify my purchase.

    this is shaping to be a AAA game. cant wait.. wait not on 360? what am i to do? guess ill play it on my ps3 sence i have a ps3(2) 360(2) and a wii(1)...to be honest im glad its ps3 only cuz H3 was nice gameplay(but the same as always) and gfx was was a joke. ps3 may offer a spark FPS need.

    Most likely they will get if for 360, they would be stupid not to. They would miss out on the majority of the American market if they didnt put it on 360. After all game programming is a business like any other.

    I'm not gonna dish out 600 bucks for this game. Bad move Ubisoft, I'm sure a lot of people feel the same as I do.

    I hate fanboys, do us all a favour and wrap your head in plastic. I am glad that Sony is at least getting this exclusive for awhile, it provides better competition between the two systems. Anyone who can add one hundred-seventy two plus one hundred-eighty eight knows that competition between companies is great for the consumer. On my games to play list right now is BioShock (360) (i own it, just waiting to get back to my house to play it) The Darkness (PS3 - need to finish it) Halo 3 (360) Mass Effect(360) Assasin's Creed(PS3) Haze(PS3) and Unreal Tourney 3(PS3). I'm not a fanboy, because I own both systems. For anyone with any hint of fanboy in them, and for those of you who don't and want someone to agree with listen up...FANBOYISM IS FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE JEALOUS BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE BOTH SYSTEMS! There is truly no other reason for being a fanboy.

    SeAmNiNjA , don't you mean " was so looking forward to this for Xbox 360 so much now sony took it away." because i looked at your games and i found Haze on the Xbox 360 in your Wish List....so i think your jealous because it's coming to the PS3 and not going to the Xbox 360, until next year.     screw all of you ps3 fanboys your lucky your sony has money to buy out free radical and this game, i was so looking forward to this for pc so much but now sony took it away, so i guess ill justhave to play a better gaem such as crysis

    to da1writer you said that you lose faith on microsoft, EA and ubisoft?..did you know that HAZE is a UBISOFT game?..my advice to you is understand what you are reading then you react. and HAZE will probably be released on XBOX 360, come on the da1writer who are you kidding we all know that almost of the game company are making games for microsoft that includes ubisoft which is the company behind HAZE. da1writer you have to admit it to yourself that almost all the ps3 games are also available in XBOX 360, the only console that have lots of exclusive games is the XBOX 360. stop dreaming ps3 fanboy..dont be hating.

    Well It's official, Haze is a PS3 exclusive! Finally!
    After much debate, Free Radical is sick of Microsoft and has decided to just make games for Sony from now on (Starting with Haze).
    They said they like the way Sony treats them, giving them tons of freedom to do what they want, and giving them props in making them a "Need to Have" Game company!

    Now everyone can speculate and say, "SONY F@nb0y" type of deal but the truth hurts 360 fans... I know.
    Lets start with the official websites only having a Playstation 3 sign only...

    Oh, I might have forgotten to mention that since they don't like microsoft, it's not only not coming to xbox360, pc owners are out of luck as well ! Sorry everyone, not to step on anyones toes or piss anyone off but I have lost faith in Microsoft, EA, and Ubisoft because all they think about is the benjamins, not gamers. In my opiinion, I think this is how the gaming giants are like. Nintendo thinks about the gamers (always have, always will), Microsoft thinks about the money (how many times have you sent back your 360, let's not talk about vista shall we), and sony is like on middle ground aka thinks about gamers and money. Opinion of mine of course, don't judge please. Anyway, back on subject. Here is another showing of Haze being only an exclusive to ps3:

    It thoroughly mentions that Free Radical has dropped support of Xbox 360 and PC aka those platforms have fallen to the Duke Nukem Forever TBA slot. Haze Developers just prefer making the game on PS3:

I know alot of people are going to be mad for this news but hey 360 owners, don't fret... you get Halo 3 after all, isn't that th game you want anyway? You got gear of war for crying out loud! Microsoft has been grabbing Sony's exclusives for a long time, now it's Sony's turn to take back. Go on and label me as a Sony fanboy, just remeber that I'm only here to tell you about this update, not piss anyone off.

    Whats the point in fighting which console is better, they are only for entertainment so you will not get bored. Plus i think the helmet looks nothing like the master chief's helmet, its a completely different helmet.

    i hope this doesn't turn out that they are trying to be like halo, i mean i like halo and can't wait to get halo3, i also trust free radical. it should be good, just hope it comes to 360 in 2008. i know ps3 fans are pissed at losing exclusives but making a milti-platform game exclusive to one console is rediculous. good game plan though releasing it first on ps3, fair play to them.

    Well nothing new in the plot stakes. The guys all look like the chief (but then everybody does these days) but it is being made by free radical. Also known as 'We made goldeneye when we worked with Rare'. It's a long nickname but I like it. I'll hold out before I start the hyperbole.

    Time-exclusive. The only reason it isn't coming out this fall for 360 is because of Halo 3. They want all the money they can make out of this game. I'm betting this game comes to 360 sometime between January-April 2008.

    hey ps3 midwest youre full of it 360 isnt even close to dying out weve got tons of awsome games coming out for it in my opinion ps3 was about to die because it gets games like rainbow six and graw2 and oblivion and fear that come out on ps3 six or more months after released on 360 i think oblivion and motorstorm saved it

    Ubisoft are being smart. They know X360 players will be busy with Halo 3 so to release Haze around the same time would not have much impact on sales. PS3 gamers won't have access to Halo 3 so Ubisoft is keeping them happy with Haze, just until the X360 Halo 3 buzz starts to ware thin then they will announce a X360 release. It's all about maximizing prophets. I would not surprise me if Microsoft even ask Ubisoft to delay a Haze X360 release to boost sales on Halo 3. Sony has it's Killzone 2 looming here and about with a hope of a fall 07 release. I doubt they would pay Ubisoft for Haze exclusively. If they did then they should have also gone for Assassins Creed.

    Haze def looks better than Halo... then again I never understood the Halo hype either, and I'm a FPS fan. Not that Halo isn't a good game, just nothing to piss myself over...

    I cant wait to play this game. There are not a ton of games i want to waste money on for my ps3 right now, just my 360. I hope that it comes out for the 360 as well though because it looks like a great game and everyone should be able to play it. I don't expect the game to be exclusive for long though anyway.
