Konami numbers up across the board
Latest financials show healthy first-half consolidated results, games division cited as source.
Tokyo-based publisher Konami has released its figures for the company's first financial half-year, ended September 30, showing higher consolidated net revenues and consolidated operating income over last year.
Net revenues were ¥133.7 billion (approx $1.2 billion), up 12 percent over last year, and operating income was ¥13.042 billion ($117 million), a 30 percent increase. Income before taxes was ¥13.075 billion ($117 million), an increase of 32.3 percent, and net income ¥6.28 billion ($56 million), an increase of 23 percent.
The company stated that sports games such as the Winning Eleven and Jikkyou Pawafuru Puroyakyu series had done well, along with current titles in the Metal Gear series and "music-themed" games. In other divisions, Mah Jong Fight Club 6, Grandcross, and Bemani amusement machines recorded strong sales, as well as the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game.
