SingStore to get 67 new songs

The online songs database for the PS3 version of SingStar will be getting a big update on March 7, including new tracks from the Spice Girls, David Bowie, and Maximo Park.

SingStar, which was released in Europe on December 7, 2007, and currently expected in the US sometime in the second quarter 2008, initially came with 44 tunes on the game disc. Gamers could then choose to download extra tracks from the online SingStore. However, with only 18 songs uploaded as of January 18, desperate karaoke lovers were getting antsy for new offerings.

Today they can fret no more. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has confirmed to GameSpot that there will be a big update coming on March 7, which will include 46 English songs, and a smattering of German, Italian, Norwegian, and Spanish tracks for mainland Europe.

@ morgonstjarnan: "Why all the crappy, whiny britpop? That's sure as hell not party music."

    From the Wiki:

"Britpop is a subgenre of alternative rock that originated in the United Kingdom. Britpop emerged from the British independent music scene of the early 1990s and was characterised by bands influenced by British guitar pop music of the 1960s and 1970s. "

If I give you Stereophonics as "Britpop" as well (they're not though), there are a total of 3 songs (Blur were Britpop) on this listing that could be defined as Britpop.

Oh wow, there are some major hits in here - the last couple of updates haven't really provided so much but with the likes of Roxy Music, Bowie's Heroes and The Hoosiers (easily one of the highlights of last year) this is really turning around.

    Roll on March 7th!

I don't really care for this game, but my sister and my step mom love it. I didn't even know my step mom liked games. I guess its the whole "casual" thing. Sadly they only have a PS2 so I don't think this helps them any.

Plus theres not enough r&b tracks. LOL @ a singing game ignoring a popular genre thats 100% devoted to singing ability.

You base your game purchases by the choice of sunglasses featured on the cover?

Teenage Kicks and Love Will Tear Us Apart aren't too bad. Outside of that, nothing there looks appealing to me, personally.

OMG i'm so glad I haven't brought this game yet. I was actually was planning to but Now that I know it only had 13 songs before and like another 47 now I'm definately not buying it untill they bring out wireless mics it's ridculous. Maybe by then they'll at least have a decent amount of songs. Also depending i'll probably buy the american version so I can get american songs. Unless the two Singstars are going to share the same database which I think is highly unlikely!
