Midnight Club hits the streets September 9

Rockstar's LA-based racer arrives for PS3, Xbox 360 later this year; PSP "Remix" edition also announced.

All eyes are on next week's launch of the much-anticipated Grand Theft Auto IV from Rockstar Games, but the developer is already looking forward to the next big sequel in another of its well-known franchises. Rockstar Games announced today the release dates for Midnight Club: Los Angeles on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, as well as Midnight Club: LA Remix for the PlayStation Portable.

All three versions of the game will arrive in North American stores on September 9, with European releases scheduled for September 12. Midnight Club: Los Angeles was originally scheduled for an early 2008 release, but was delayed by Rockstar parent company Take-Two Interactive "to leverage the retail strength leading to the key holiday-selling season, and in order to provide some distance from the release of Grand Theft Auto IV."

Like GTAIV, Midnight Club: Los Angeles features an open-world design. Unlike GTAIV, it won't include any weapons or combat, and will sport customizable licensed cars and tuner parts including rims, tires, and spoilers. The console editions of Midnight Club: Los Angeles are being developed by Rockstar San Diego, with Rockstar London working on the PSP LA Remix.

They pushed it back 1 month to oct sounds like it is going to be a good game.

Good news because the new release of the NFS: Prostreet was bad. MC is a good game and i have experienced that by playing the midnight club DUB edition (on PSP) and it is a subject for recurrence

NFS hasn't been good since Hot Pursuit but Midnight Club stole the show with Dub Edition. All the classic muscle cars and tuners were fully customizable with rim sizes being the best. 70' Chevelle Royal blue, white racing stripes, and huge rims was the best possible creation!!!!

I can't wait for MC. NFS use to be my favorite but after playing MC back in 01 I've been hooked and NFS got the bump. NFS series went downhill with Most Wanted. Being forced to drive a stick when it came to drag races and keeping the police chase going for "x" amount of time made me hate the game.

This game however is going to be sick

Need for speed used to be good, Underground was the best, but then they all went downhill, even now midnight club DUB edition is better than any NFS game so i cant wait for LA, its gonna be siiiiik

Dude, MC imo is way better than NFS... After Underground, the quality of NSF starts to dip a little as it moved to most wanted and then to Carbon. The graphics are still fine but it's something about the races. NFS's races feel quite repetative. But I didn't really have that feeling when i played MC. My opinion? Rent and try it out first.

the only complaint i had with the first midnight club 3 on PSP was that sometimes the load times were very very long. other than that, it was a prefect port.

MIdnight Club Yea, Not as good as Need for Speed Underground 1 but better than the other NFSes so its a yes for me. Completing MC 3 on PSP was fun so I'll give this one a go.

I wonder what will happen if EA buys taketwo? will they cancel midnight club? maybe they will slap the Need For Speed Label on Midnight club? haha that would be funny.

Midnight Club has always been a fun racing game. I buy them because they allow you to customize the crap out of your cars. I'll probably still keep playing Burnout Paradise though.

if MC3 was soo good as you say DrKill09 then how come it sold so poorly in comparison to underground? I think games like underground don't get enough respect.. it was game of the year when it was released and was a huge seller.. it must have been a quality game for people to like it. MC3 was okay but not great like underground or it would have been more successful.

  • DrKill09

    Posted Apr 21, 2008 6:44 pm GMT

MC3 was the best street racing game, and put NFS Underground to shame. I can't wait for this new installment! ...especially since Microsoft never made MC3 or MC3 Remix 360 compatible.

    @ sidious,

yo, I was thinkin' the same thing, LOL.....damn I'm gonna be sooo broke by the end of Sept.--from the overload of game purchases--that it ain't even gonna be funny

Of course, I wouldn't have it any other way.....except if they decided to release it earlier

Ecellent! Absolutely cannot wait for this game! It looks amazing! Graphics wise, they say there are over 100,000 polygons per car, which is getting close to Forza 2 and GT5 graphics, and is way more than NFS: Pro Street.

  • mrjasler

Based on the trailer, it looks like midnight club doesn't have any focus on the cops? what is with that? what is the story and the point to the whole thing.. I don't want to just roam around LA ... there needs to be a point to it all.. the trailer was a disappointment.

I hear that the next NFS will go back to the Most Wanted-style street racing, which can only be good. Two street racing games this year, plus the quality that comes from competition!

This game does look awesome. It's the first non-NASCAR racing game that I've seen in ages that lets you actually flip your car. Plus, it lets you drive through L.A. traffic. (OK, maybe that's not such a good thing...)

Zetona, I strongly disagree. I compared them both at Gamestop, and I found Excite Truck to be 100 times better than Motor Storm. Motor Storm has pretty graphics, but the game sucks, it's boring, and I couldn't control the vehicles. Excite Truck is easy to control, so I don't know why you couln't handle it. I would much rather like to play Midnight Club on the Wii than on any other system. And I think Motor Storm is a horrible racing game.
