Brash plans Prison Break

Publisher conspires to get TV-to-game adaptation on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 early next year.

Brash Entertainment is branching out. After carving out a niche for itself as a publisher of big-screen adaptations such as Jumper: Griffin's Story, Alvin and the Chipmunks, and Space Chimps, the company is trying its hand at a small-screen adaptation.

People who purchased the newly released Season 3 box set of Prison Break no doubt noticed an ad for Brash's game adaptation in the package. According to the ad, the Prison Break game is scheduled for release in February of 2009.

Fox's Prison Break began as the story of a structural engineer who intentionally botched a bank robbery in order to be thrown into prison alongside his brother, who was on death row. The show's fourth season is set to begin next month.

A Brash Entertainment representative confirmed the above details, but could offer no additional information on the project.

it seems like this game is almost trying to take a Splinter Cell feel for the environment and the character models. It looks alright but i cant really see this game taking off as a big hit anytime soon. I would preferably just stick with the show, this game unfortunately might not quite do the show any justice.

First thing, I don't know why I feel that the game will be very easy and boring or very hard and exciting. If they make the game based on the show completley, as an example : we must do everything that michael did in the show to break out from Fox River (I think that is what adaptation really mean). It would be somehow exciting if they put an effort to it. Secondly, a great Prison Break game would be if you really have the ability to enjoy the "prison" environment , as an example : Starting the day with prisoners cell check. Then freely hanging in the cell chatting with your cell mate or doing stuff :wicked: . Next activity, release in the yard period begin to do some planning and plotting, and perhaps looking for allies to join the escape party (like T-Bag or Abruzzi). Then eventually (in night), digging holes and breaking some walls... . Well, that is kinda game that would make a good game from Prison Break.

I'd love for it to be in the style of Fallout 3, as weird as they may sound. Start off in prison, get to explore your surroundings, setup your plan by the deadline, go to your daily visits to Dr. Tancredi, etc. That'd be a really fun game.

Love the show, curious to see what type of game this would be...you would need all the character i think to make it eye catching...but it truly does come down to gameplay/graphics/storyline...looking forward to hearing more about this.

I hope they can manage to finish the game in only, what... 6 or so months? We've all seen games that developers spent YEARS on, and seen them tank for some reason or another. They better know what they're doing.

I REALLY hope they don't screw this up! I love the Prison Break series and I actually thought of the idea myself as a some kind of splinter cell like game. As alot of film to game experiences, they end up like crap, but just for beeing Prison Break I'll buy it, and I think thats how theyre going to sell(by beeing a powerful franchise which are sitting on a series that I would've given an multi-Oscar)

Prison Break is a great show...

...that just had a crappy game announced for it.

As long as they don't end up putting anything in the game that would be completely new and require me to drop money on a trashy game in order to get all the details, then I'm set.

Besides...what can you honestly do to make Prison Break into the game?

First level - plot out an entire prison break in an office.
Second level - hold a gun up in a bank and get arrested
Third level - make sure you get the judge to throw you in jail
Fourth level - meet a bunch of cons and dig holes in a work shed
    Fifth level...

I mean, honestly...it would just end up boring as hell, I think.

This is such a terrible, terrible idea. They need to just stop now. The show is awesome, but I don't see how you can possibly make a game out of it. At least not one that's fun or interesting.

A little late to be thinking of a game now, isn't it? The shows been on a steady decline. Come on, how many more prisons are they going to be able to break out of? From the ads, it looks like this season might be its last (and possibly worst).

if you want to destroy a brand name as prison break, just make a game of it... people won't remember that prison break was a great show, they'll just remember that prison break was just a crappy game!!!

  • mYslead

    Posted Aug 15, 2008 7:41 am GMT

the thing is with the second season is that it wasn't even a prison break lol. they were already out of it and were fugitives, what made season 3 better is the fact that they were stuck once again in a prison.

  • ElectrolightSH

    Posted Aug 15, 2008 7:13 am GMT

I love the show and I hope the game turns out well. I hope it comes out as a cross between Splinter Cell and Prisoner of War.

  • PBRulez

    Posted Aug 15, 2008 6:32 am GMT

And I dunno, I agree on most things being said: Season 1 was gold, 2 was sort of crappy. But hey, I felt season 3 was as close as the show's gotten to it's original glory days in a while, parts were crappy, but I liked it.

  • PBRulez

    Posted Aug 15, 2008 6:28 am GMT

Haha, I heard this, and I was so pleased... then I realised it was made by Brash, the people behind the Jumper game... and I lost faith, lol.

Still, being a hardcore Prison Break fan, I'll definetly give it a whirl.

I was a fan of the show up until the end of the second season. They wrapped up most of the plot and then they throw all the characters into some sort of "no-rules" prison? Now I hear they are resurrecting characters they killed off simply because fans wanted the character back?! A couple years ago I'd be excited about a Prison Break game...not so much anymore.

    Brash is the publisher, right?
Any word on who the developer is?

  • greater_bird

    Posted Aug 15, 2008 1:23 am GMT

It's kind of annoying when news stories contain no news at all. Developer confirms existence of **game they've recently advertised**. Who'd have thought!

Now if they'd *denied* the existence of a game they'd advertised, *that* would be news.
