Heroes Over Europe in holding pattern until 2009

Atari picks up Red Mile World War II flight sim, promptly pushes Xbox 360 and PS3 versions back to next year.

Red Mile Entertainment's flight sim Heroes Over Europe is experiencing a bit of turbulence. The publisher announced today that it would be partnering with Atari to get the game on store shelves, and pushed back the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 releases of the game to 2009. Originally the console editions had been expected in fall 2008, although the PC version has always been a 2009 release.

As the sequel to Heroes of the Pacific, Heroes Over Europe covers a new continent's worth of key air battles from World War II. Players will take flight over London and Berlin with a new game engine powering the series' current-gen debut. The game will include online multiplayer skirmishes for up to 16 pilots, authentic cockpit re-creations, and downloadable content available at release.

Heroes Over Europe has been in development for more than two years at Transmission Games, formerly known as IR Gurus. In addition to Heroes of the Pacific, the studio was also responsible for the modern aerial-combat game Heatseeker, and is currently working on gaming adaptations of Frank Miller's comic-book series Sin City.

Will the next game be "Heroes Over Korea". The world's first jet vs. jet air war.

    F-86 Sabre vs MiG-15.

I can wait because I really want this game to be good. I digged HOP a great deal so I am sure that it will be better for the the next gen. To establish some sort of credibility on the topic, I LOVE WWII games (especially flight). I enjoyed Secret weapons over Normandy but Heroes was twice as good. Blazing Angels is a dark time that has already been forgotten (currently the only game that I have sold on Ebay)but, I digress decent story...insane action....long levels and great AI. For those who have not checked out the previous instalment, you really need to give this a chance.

Darn. After seeing that this game was going to support trophies on the PS3 I was pretty excited. But, I guess I have a good waiting period to look forward to...
