Red Mile contracts new Sin City dev

Publisher confirms as-yet-unnamed studio will replace Transmission Games on gaming adaptation of Frank Miller's gratuitous graphic novel.

In announcing a copublishing agreement with Atari yesterday, Red Mile Entertainment revealed that the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 editions of Heroes Over Europe had been bumped to 2009 to join the PC version of the game. The announcement appeared as if it would make for a busy year for Transmission Games, who in addition to the flight combat sim has been attached to release a game adaption of Frank Miller's acclaimed graphic novel Sin City in 2009.

While that 2009 release appears to still be a go, Red Mile has confirmed for GameSpot that it won't be Transmission Games at the wheel. Responding to requests for comment, a Red Mile representative said that Sin City has been passed off to an as-yet-unannounced development house, a change that occurred "quite a long time ago." Commenting on the switch, the Red Mile representative said, "Transmission is focusing on Heroes Over Europe, which is quite an important title for us."

Information remains relatively sparse on Sin City the game. Red Mile has previously announced that the game will make use of Epic Games' Unreal Engine 3, which has powered such titles as Gears of War and Hour of Victory. Reports earlier this year indicated that the game would arrive on the Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii in time for Christmas 2009.

Commenting on the direction of the game when it was first announced, design lead Flint Dille said, "Frank [Miller] and I have been having a party coming up with nasty stuff for the game. In true Sin City fashion, some old characters will return, new characters will appear and--without giving anything away--probably die horribly."

I loved the movie but I hope this game doesn't suck like most movie games

Please don't let this game suck. Miller himself better be involved, or I have little hope.

I sure hope the game is as amusingly gratuitous as the film was. I can't wait to get hit by a car four times and only be mildly annoyed.

Sin City comics make for a good read and visually the movie was cool. But does Frank Miller's universe translate into a good game? I don't think so, though I'm sure the game will look like something we've never seen in gaming before.

I guess there is no stoping them now but they should not do this at all.

    This is a bad idea.

I hope they stick more to the graphic novels and not JUST base it on the upcoming movie sequel...

a sin city game has potential, but like most movie tie-ins it will probably be average

Could be bad, could be good.

When it comes to making this movie gameable, Just play off each Characters story as a stage. get about maybe 10 hours or more out of this game.

Sin City, game... if this game has any hope at all lets hope they don't they stick to the graphic novel and stay away from the movies.
Sure I liked the movie but we all know how movie tie-in games go...

as awesome as it could be, it could be a thousand times worse. I mean look what happened when they made a "Reservoir Dogs" game. They took a spectacular film and made it into a crappy game. So I'll be undecided on a game unless I see some awe inspiring footage.

Pulp Fiction would make a good Wii game, used the remote to swing the sword or keep your butt hole tight.

"Epic Games' Unreal Engine 3, which has powered such titles as Gears of War and Hour of Victory" It's like saying truffles are found in fine cuisine and vomit. True but separate ideas.

this is one movie that developers shouldn't bother with, it would be like making a game for Pulp Fiction. its not a movie that's game able.

Finally a Sin City game! Hope they don't screw it up.

"Epic Games' Unreal Engine 3, which has powered such titles as Gears of War and Hour of Victory."
Gears of War and Hour of Victory (ugh...) should NEVER be in the same sentence to not soil the great name of Gears of War... dear god... lol!

How exactly does GS determine the "top story"? It seems like almost every "top story" from GS isn't exactly the most popular story that gamers care about. Maybe it is the most important story in GS eyes, but it sure isn't to gamers.

'Unreal Engine 3, which has powered such titles as Gears of War and Hour of Victory.'

Nice one! Rockstar or Remedy would've done wonders with this license. We can only pray that Red Mile got someone worthy on this project.

So much potential within Sin City to make a good game lets just hope the devs are able to pull it off. Since Sin City is going to be a trilogy they can prolly release this game around when the third movie comes out so it goves the devs enough time to build a good game.

An open world game in Sin-city would be real cool. The ability to choose who to work for would also be nice.

Powering "Hour of Victory" is nothing to boast about...

I'd personally rather see a second movie, but a game could be good - Seems almost perfect for a sandbox environment...

i think they gonna screw the poor story. unless they make it with a gameplay like indigo prophecy, which you watch a movie and press buttons...
