Snowboards slalom into We Ski 2
Namco Bandai confirms Wii Balance Board ski sequel set for US March 2009 release; snowboards to join skiing frenzy.
Namco Bandai was one of the first to jump on the Wii Balance Board bandwagon last year with the release of We Ski, a family-friendly snow title which garnered mainly positive reviews. At its pre-TGS media briefing yesterday, Namco Bandai confirmed that the sequel---dubbed We Ski and Snowboard for Western markets--will be hitting the US in March 2009, with PAL regions still to be determined.
In Japan, the We Ski sequel is titled Family Ski: World Ski and Snowboard, and is set for release in November 2008. As its title implies, the game adds snowboards to the mix, with gamers having to turn the Wii Balance Board to the side to simulate the action of controlling a real snowboard. During an onstage demo at the Namco Bandai event, a We Ski and Snowboard developer demoed the snowboarding side of the game, with various tricks performed via various Wii Remote and nunchuk waggles.
We Ski's cutesy presentation seems to be back in the sequel, and Mii support also looks to be another included feature. Check out GameSpot's preview of We Ski and Snowboard from this year's TGS.
