Last week, a trailer surfaced on YouTube purporting to be for Guitar Hero: Metallica. Reported as an unlockable Easter egg in Guitar Hero World Tour, the 27-second spot trailer offered only a tiny taste of what the game might hold, with a brief snippet of the speed-metal quartet's 1986 hit "Master of Puppets." After telling viewers to "Unleash your metal god," the trailer flashes the logo for the game, due out sometime next year.

Now, with the expiration of the press embargo on Guitar Hero: World Tour, GameSpot can confirm the trailer is genuine, and is hidden in both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 editions of the game. (Click picture to play.) Guitar Hero: Metallica, which was first revealed via an Activision earnings report in June, will be the second band-based game in the Guitar Hero series. The first, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, was released this past June for the Wii, Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation 3. Activision has not revealed any platforms for Guitar Hero: Metallica, and declined to comment further on the trailer.

    this could potentially be a great game...if they use metallica's good stuff......not st.anger not load(or reload) not the black album...im talkin about kill em all, ride the lightning, master of puppets, ...and justice for all.

    No, I think the Metallica we know play Thrash Metal. - Much better.

    This game is going to rock, no matter what, as long as theres not much of the load era in there, i didn't mind St. Anger tbh it was full of aggression and anger. Shame about the snare .

    Should be a great game, I can also play lots of their stuff on real guitar, Metallica tunes are my faviourite to play, but still... This will be awesome.

All That Remains KsE and Shadows Fall, (Which I all like btw) wouldn't have even existed if it weren't for Metallica and Slayer, and in my opinion it is a good thing Metallica TRIED to make it sound like their early albums, because, you know, they are some of the most influencial albums of all of metal. and to say that Slayer sucks, well, it goes without saying, wtf kind of retard says that, even if you don't like them, you can't say they are crap, because it would just show to the world how ignorant and goddamn stupid you are.

    Wow Guitar Hero is kind of boring. Don't get me wrong about Metallica, they are my idols, but another Guitar Hero game is making me sick.

    Just so you people who are thinking about real guitar, it's worth it. I've only had one since April and right now I can play Master Of Puppets, Seek And Destroy and Enter Sandman.

    This could be interesting if they include the the good songs of Metallica. I mean songs like "Trapped Under Ice", "Ride the Lighting", "One", "Seek and Destroy". But if instead of that, put songs like "I cut my hair by some bucks"...
    By the way, the Metallica that i know play Trash-Metal.

    if it would've come out a few months back I definitely would've bought it...but now I'm really second-guessing myself, it's so much more satisfying to sit down and learn one of their songs on real guitar instead of emulate them with a crappy plastic controller

    I know that metallica is a metal band. And I also know that metal bands dont need to talk about death, suicide, and anger to be a good band. All That Remains, Shadows Fall, Killswitch Engage, and even Megadeth )which has matured more in the last 5 years than metallica has since they began) are proof of that. Metallica may have been decent back in the day when only Slayer (which also sucks) and Metallica were some of the only popular metal bands around, but excluding that all of their songs are too similar, they havent had a real hit in years ever since enter sandman. Do I really need to remind you of Load, Re-Load, Garage Inc, and St. Anger? Even Death Magnetic isn't very spectacular (and btw it still sounds the same as their first few albums). If I want to hear a band with blisteringly fast solos that actually has great vocals, I'll go listen to All That Remains some more.

    I'm amazed that people still buy these games. This is the same thing over and over. I loved the first 2 but then it got old. Granted, if you are willing to still pay for it, then have a blast.

    Good song for the vid, but I'm not that huge a Metallica fan, perhaps I'll get this in the bargain bin as all games inevitably end up in.

    I to hope its better then the Aerosmith game. I felt like the Aerosmith game could have had more Aerosmith in the story mode. For the full band part I have a feeling that's going to be in it because the Death Magnetic online download I think supports the full band, so I doubt they would give this full game less effort, Im just hoping for more effort then the Aerosmith game.

    I still think it would be better if is was just guitar hero metal edition, i like metallica as much as the next guy, but I want me some symphony X, more Dream Theater, Queensryche (vocals should be fun), and some extreme black/death metal of course, and other stuff

    First of all Metallica does not suck! How do all of you haters explain 5 studio albums in a row debuting at #1? No band has ever done that, not even the Beattles. Metallica just did it with Death Magnetic. This will be awesome, especially if you can use all the instruments.

    And for those who say Guitar Hero stole Rock Band's ideas... didn't GH come out first? It was inevitable that these games would include more instruments over time. The guys that make RB are the same ones that made the first GH!!

    is this another full band game or just guitar?

    Gotta say that the Aerosmith copy was done and finished with in a rental over 3 days so hopefully the Metallica spin-off isn't as shallow.

    Full band now just makes more sense than guitar only. Removing drum and vocals from the series months after releasing a $190+ bundle is a slap in the face to those who expected to use them on more than one game.

    Aerosmith sucks, Metallica sucks but both are world renowned rock bands so it's a no brainer to make games about them around one of the highest selling and fastest trends in gaming. Guitar Hero is no longer that pretty cool guitar game it was when it first came out. Now it's a media juggernaught and only those same bands will receive the Guitar Hero/Rockband treatment. Oh well

    Guitar Hero used to be fun.

    Hey fredwv, don't blame Metallica for you having to pay for MP3s. Just learn how to get them for free. Anyway, I was extremely disappointed back when Load came out, and just bought Death Magnetic after a friend said it was awesome. Well, after disliking Metallica for over a decade, I can honestly say the new album is very good. I downloaded it for GHWT and it is definitely the best music in the game. I am really looking forward to this album, as Metallica is one of the greatest THRASH metal bands in the world. I can only hope and pray we get Guitar Hero Megadeth next!

    I never played a guitar hero, I only have a PC so it's pointless. But I'll be damned if I'm not gonna download this one just to make Lars cry like with the napster thing. Pathetic sellouts. Vote me down ladies but it's true....sad but true.
