With the first batch of Fallout 3 downloadable content now just over a week old, it appears that its siblings won't be arriving as planned. Bethesda Softworks has confirmed to GameSpot that the next two Xbox 360 and Games for Windows-exclusive updates for the award-winning role-playing game have been delayed by about a month.

"The next DLC for Fallout 3, The Pitt, will be out in March," Bethesda vice president of marketing Pete Hines said. "Broken Steel will be out the following month, in April."

The Pitt takes place in the raider city that has sprung up from the ruins of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Players will be forced to side with a faction in an unnamed conflict plaguing the town, details about which were not released.

Broken Steel has players join the benevolent, knightlike Brotherhood of Steel to track down the remnants of the nefarious patriotic pretenders known as The Enclave. It extends the main storyline beyond the climactic battle in the mission Take It Back, after which the game currently ends.

    I finished Fall Out 3 (including almost all side quests, took me arround 62 hour) and then downloaded the two available DLC's. I had to get back one hour before I finished the game due to the real end (which will change with the third DLC) but I been through both. Operation Anchorage was a bit of a disappointment to me. Not that it is not fun to play through, but I hoped for a more RPG gameplay instead of the full blown fps gameplay it delivers (no searching crates in this one). So if you want to do some shooting get this one. It got a nice twist on the end is all I'm going to say. The Pitt on the other hand is a very beautiful steel factory where you have to do some talking and fighting. To me this is the perfect mix even though also here some additional side quests would have been nice. If you want the RPG gameplay (the more Fall Out 3 gameplay to put it that way) this one is the best.

    I would give Anchorage a 7 out of 10 and The Pitt a 8.5 out of 10.

    I also noticed that a SDK is released for this game. Sadly console users cannot use this SDK, but it would be really cool if you would just release some more small quests for free. Maybe even the best quests made by 'fans'.

    I'm curious to how the 'ending' will be now.

    I did not like Fallout 3's main quest ending at all. Lame choices in truth. It looks like Broken Steel is going to be a must-buy for me. I just wonder how it will transition from the two choices you are given after the main quest ends. I love Fallout 3 in general and will be adding on to it.

    Relatively short game? Even if you followed the main quests straight through to the end it would still be as long or longer than almost any game to come out recently. Try walking off the beatin path skhatz, you find some new things out there.

    I agree with skhatzman! PS3 owners get crap. Though I disagree with him in that Fallout 3 has a short playing time. So much to do and no time to do it all in...I need MORE!

    What about PS3. Are those of us with a PS3 just SOL. I love this game and would like to have some extra missions and playing time to add to this relatively short game. Give us PS3 owners something!!

    @ShroudedEagle I couldn't agree more. I have been gaming for 27 years now, and I can't give you an example of a more childish argument than the tired ass console war.. Amica or Comadore64? NES or Sega Master System? Atari Jaguar or Sega 32X? Pretty stupid arguments in hindsight, eh? I'm just glad I got to play the games I did on any system..

    Jesus, why does discussion about multi platform games always turn into a pointless, childish console war discussion?! And on topic it's not surprising that the DLC isn't coming out this month. Making content for Fallout 3 can be annoying. Seriously though, enough about the whole console war thing, both are great consoles and before you ask, yes, I do own both consoles. Now let's just try and get along, and ignore anyone else who wants to start these stupid console wars, okay?

    Maybe, Coolnutz, you should just get a 360. It has better exclusive games (Halo 3, Fable, Mass Effect, Gears of War, etc.) achievement points( Way better than PS3's knockoff 'trophies') and a better controller.

    Seriously! like Darklord9193 said, sony and microsoft need to set aside there differences and allow both the 360 and PS3 to have DLC!!!
    It's silly to share the same game but only allow one console to download content..
    It's not like the PS3 cant do it, lots of other game for it have DLC!
    This needs to change! xbox need to stop being such a elttil hctib!

    I have a pc, of course and finished the game, all quest, companions, Unique items, and than the Operation Anchorage DLC appeared, well i liked it and the twist that the game took was incredible, i think you'll be getting to the pitt via a train or something, of course i enjoy(ed) every second of the game. its incredible.

    Darklord9193, Well said! I definetly agree. All gamers deserve DLC. And they most likely will deliver DLC in one big CD/DVD like they did Knights of the Nine for Oblivion hosting all the previous DLC. But thats just a guess.
    Also, I am super glad they are bringing the story in Fallout 3 to the Brotherhood of Steel and the Enclave! Off all 3 of these expansions, I hope "Broken Steel" is the one they make there best work.

    I've actually heard from a friend of mine who owns the PS3 version that Microsoft owns the rights to the DLC for Fallout 3. I own a PS3 as well as a 360, and decided to get the 360 version for family reasons... at any rate, I honestly think it sucks that the PS3 doesn't have the DLC as well. Microsoft has already restricted trade enough, first buying out Star Ocean, and now this? Douches.

    Has anyone started like a petition or something for them to make it for the PS3 yet??? I am also extremley annoyed that they only released it for the PC and sexbox. As i have waited for this game for so long and for them to make it for PS3 i was ecstatic. And then for them to not allow content to be downloaded for PS3 really just angered me!!!

    If they don't want to do DLC for the PS3 it's their loss. I'll remember and choose games from another publisher next time. I'm not going to waste my money on those developers that don't deserve it. Like many have said, I can understand for console exclusive titles, but not one that is on multiple platforms. I bet they are doing it because its easier not too and probably the sales for PS3 were lower than on PC and Xbox. But my PC is too old to upgrade that's why I opted for the PS3 version. I might buy an Xbox in the future, but I needed blu-ray right now (hence the PS3) Oh well, they aren't going to get any more money from me. I'm going back to playing Bio-Shock anyway.

    Seriously, this 360 and PC only content is starting to get old. If I choose not to plunk money down on a high-end PC or a console that breaks down every other month, I shouldn't be penalized for it. These are multi-platform games, doesn't someone who paid the same price for it on PS3 deserve the same content? I kinda understand the whole GTA4 thing, after all, Microsoft paid enough for the exclusivity. But Bethesda first drops us a shoddy port of a AAA title, then denies us DLC? Wasn't my money as good as that of a 360 owner? F@CK these jerkoff companies and their exclusive DLC.

    I dont care for the console wars... I own a PS3 and I know that certain titles wont be available on it. But when a game goes multi-platform, ALL DLC's should go also!!

    There is nothing to gain from the gamers about doing exclusive DLC's. OHhhh sure, the big bad MS could give millions to the developers to get it exclusively or get exclusive DLC but the developers should care a bit more about their business... And their business is us, gamers... All developers should take exemple on HARMONIX and get all DLC's out to both consoles at the same time (or close to it).

    Just my toughts on this... Take it or leave it, but I am sure some fanboy will take great pleasure on analysing the contents of my comment (either a 360 fanboy or a PS3 fanboy, their the same to me)

    POWER TO THE GAMES... NOT THE CONSOLES!!!

    I'm somewhat puzzled by all the whingeing about the lack of DLC for a console platform and the pathetic concept that Bethesda doesn't have a right to charge for their time and work. Oh, right it just clicked - it's because of the evil axis of Microsoft. Push for patches and look around for free mods. The Oblivion mods were far better than the Bethesda efforts anyway.

    after the three DLC pack comes out, theres gonna be the last expansion which is exclusive to PC. it has to do with the G.E.C.K. i dont know exactly but you get to create things with it. havent really read about it.

    the level cap update should've been with the first update. but i can't help wondering if there's something coming after the 3 dlc packs that would be a reason for that?

    Is anyone else upset that the Level Cap increase is coming last? I have hit level 20 on good and evil and don't want to continue playing missions while I'm still not getting any new experience...I'll have beaten everything in the game by the time the level cap increases and will have to start over to enjoy the benefits, which kind of sucks.

    They still need to actually fix the game across all the platforms. If you go to Beth's forums you can see plenty of us with all kinds of problems despite everything else working perfectly on our PCs and consoles.

    Probably aren't going shift any DLC over to the PS3. As you can see, the coding for the PS3 sucks, and I don't imagine them (Bethesda) bothering to port it.

    I think the issues here come simply: People love the games, but while some DLC is definitely worth it, there are companies like EA (look at Skate 2 already) that use DLC as a way to gouge the consumer. We all need to be careful about which products we buy, or we end up contributing to a culture in which we allow ourselves to be taken advantage of. I will buy the DLC for F3 that extends the storyline past lvl 20, but personally the rest seems like a ripoff. The delay... I don't even mind. Think about that, a month more means you'll be that much farther from your first play-through... not a bad thing.

    That said, I said people should be over F3, and they should. It was a game that I loved because it is the perfect game type for me. I loved oblivion too, even parts most hated. HOWEVER, I can objectively see that for all of its high points, F3 packed an interesting story with an amazing... and amazingly EMPTY open world. I played the game for well over 100 hours, so I KNOW it's most empty space with a nice view. More variety in enemies and inherent challenges beyond just ramping up the difficulty level would have been great too. Most people also have issue with the fact that the best armour isn't even the power armour everyone WANTS to wear... So, when people are willing to shell out for a couple more hours of the game, I think that is a bad investment. It's one thing to enjoy and support a game, and another to enable sloppy development.

    diernes, oblivion was certainly not rubbish. if you know anything about or have every enjoyed an rpg, your conclusion might have been the same. instead you ignorantly bought a game that is very similar to oblivion and decided to flame it on a forum where people love these games. you certainly are a fool.
