PopCap Arcade Vol. 2 opens on XBLA March 31
Peggle, Feeding Frenzy 2, Heavy Weapon headline second installment in casual game company's compilation later this month.
One noted omission from PopCap's first compilation for Microsoft's Xbox 360 was Peggle, the casual game company's defining ball-shooting puzzle game. That situation, however, will be rectified with PopCap Arcade Vol. 2, which the company has said will be available for the Xbox 360 on March 31.
Two other titles will come packed in to PopCap Arcade Vol. 2 alongside the highly addictive Peggle. Heavy Weapon, which saw positive reviews upon its stand-alone release for the Xbox Live Arcade in January 2007, is an arcade-style scrolling shooter that offers 19 single-player challenges as well as a number of online multiplayer modes. Feeding Frenzy 2, originally released to less-than-spectacular reviews for XBLA in September 2008, drops players into the gills of a fish, challenging them to eat smaller aquatic life while avoiding larger predators.
Peggle fans who can't wait until the end of March can get their fix this week with the launch of Peggle: Dual Shot on the DS. As noted in GameSpot's preview of the game last year, Peggle: Dual Shot is expected to arrive for Xbox Live sometime in March. Further out, PopCap expects to release the heretofore download-only PC title Peggle Nights via retail outlets in April, while a free bonus pack for the game is available today.
