The Monster Hunter franchise is more than just a game in Japan, it's a phenomenon. The series launched its first title Monster Hunter on the PS2 back in 2005, and since then Japan has been lapping up everything to do with Monster Hunter such as books, Manga, clothing, even its own store. The most recent release, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite is a mainstay in the Japanese charts, with the series achieving worldwide sales of over 8 million copies.

Now, Capcom is bringing some of that Monster Hunter love to the UK with the release of Freedom Unite on the PSP. To celebrate the launch, Capcom has teamed up with Sony to offer a special PSP bundle, though it will only include the PSP-3000 and not the spangly new PSP-Go. The kit includes the PSP-3000, carry pouch, screen wipe, branded skin, and of course a copy of the game. Capcom has promised the bundle will make it to most European countries, but has not announced pricing at this time.
For the uninitiated, Monster Hunter is an action-rpg game with just a sprinkling of MMO, where players hunt down various beasties and undertake a variety of quests including simple tasks such as carrying eggs to town, through to full blown monster capture. As in previous titles, the game focuses heavily on the multiplayer aspect, with the ability to have up to four players utilising the PSP's ad hoc mode to hunt monsters and finish quests.
Potential hunters can keep an eye out for the bundle, along with the game, when its released on June 26.
