Eidos announces Championship Manager 2010

It's no secret that the Championship Manager series has been in somewhat of a downward spiral after developers Sports Interactive cut the cord to work on its own game, the now renowned Football Manager. Champ Manager was then left to languish in the hands of current developers Beautiful Game Studios, with the 2008 version receiving less than favourable reviews.
Still, you can't fault Eidos and Beautiful Game Studios' determination to try to get things right, and so they've announced the next version of the game, Championship Manager 2010, which is due out this September. In development for over two years, the game boasts a brand new 3D match engine, set-piece creator, and the ability to create unique free kicks and corners. The publisher is seeing 2009 as a serious return to form for the series promising to "raise the bar for consumers...2009 is going to be a big year for us."
The game will also feature a brand new monthly updating system called CM Season Live, something Eidos is calling "the most exciting innovation in football management games since they began." Though, arguably the in-match commentary engine from CM2 with Clive Tyldesley is the most exciting.
While the name is reminiscent of Football Manager Live, the service is actually very different. The update brings the major statistics from 10 leading countries in Europe direct into the game and will boast full updates of 49 major leagues and competitions. No pricing has been announced for the CM Season Live service, but it should launch shortly after the game does in September.
