Tekken 6 enters ring October 27

Namco Bandai's long-in-the-making fighter finally given release date on Xbox 360, PS3; preorder incentives include Hori wireless fight stick, Penny Arcade DLC.

Pop quiz: When was Tekken 6 announced? Those who correctly stated that Namco Bandai's fighter was first debuted alongside Sony's PlayStation 3 at the 2005 Electronic Entertainment Expo win a prize: confirmation of the game's release date. Today, Namco Bandai said that the long-in-development Tekken 6 will see release on the Xbox 360 and PS3 in North America on October 27, with editions for Europe, Japan, and the rest of Asia to follow in close proximity.

A stranger approaches...

Along with dating the game, Namco Bandai announced two preorder incentives for Tekken 6. Those looking to pick up a new fight stick can opt in to the Tekken 6 Wireless Fight Stick Bundle, which will be available for both the Xbox 360 and PS3 at participating retailers for $149.99. In addition to the game, the bundle includes a Hori wireless fight stick, as well as a Tekken 6-themed art book.

The second preorder pack is available for no additional charge exclusively at GameStop, and includes the downloadable Penny Arcade Samurai Pack. The DLC opens up the Cardboard Tube Samurai costume for the blade-wielding Yoshimitsu, as well as unlocks the limited-edition Samurai Battle Banners that can be applied to each of the game's 40 fighters. The preorder incentive also includes a Tekken 6-themed 2009-2010 calendar.

In April, Namco Bandai said that Tekken 6 will also be coming to the PSP this fall, and the publisher did not provide a narrowed release window as part of today's announcement. For more on the console editions, check out GameSpot's previous coverage of Tekken 6.

    ITS A GOOD THING TEKKEN IS KOMING TO 360, they need to see wat they been missing. & besides i hated plyng my friends in tekken 5 and thm saying i beat thm because they ply 360. now theres no excuses. lol

    I love sergei dragunov from tekken 5 dark ressurection but Craig Marduk is my favorite hopefully he will be made stronger.

    I am a slave of Sony but the truth is. It does n' t always be the best. Tekken 6 is a best combos fighting game ever and the favorite mini game is punching ball.

    I think free air combos are too hard to do. I have a little trick on wrestle command please make it work on 6.

    Asuka remind me of my favorite Japanese girl too.

    I love Bruce very much. I think a story line of him is too boring.

    The fanboy's might be moaning about the 360 getting a release, but I don't give a poop. Tekken is ubber popular and I think its great everyone get's a go... except silly Wii owners.

    I own both PS3 and 360...but think I'm getting PS3 version for the free online.

    who cares if its going to xbox , let xbox know what a real fighting game really is . Tekken is a playstation legend and its time that tekken gets its name known . So let tekken spread its gospel of "BEAT DOWN" and lets fight to the FINISH !!!

    I think it is ridiculous that Tekken 6 is going on to Xbox360. Why do all the Playstation exclusives always move to Xbox?

    That was a stupid move by Sony. The Tekken series have been around for awhile on the Playstations and on Xbox. I bet you anything they made the game worse to make it look good for Xbox.



    We've waited this long and now you tell us that it's going on Xbox. That is a slap on the face. Why doesn't Sony ever think of their fanboys?

    I'm not a big Tekkan fan but I do love penny arcade and fighting games so mabye I'll pick this up

    and also I don't get why some people are pissed its for the 360 they jsut want to sell more copies its not going to hurt the game

    Although I was never a fan of fighting games, Tekken has always had a special place in my heart mainly because of Yoshimtsu. That guy is awesome! I'm very happy that Tekken 6 will also be available on the 360,that way more people will get to play it

    Fighting games are awesome. Anyone who says they don't change, might as well say the same for every other genre.

    How about new techniques, online play, better graphics, etc? That wasn't possible on older fighters.

    Tekken 6 ftw! A truly great fighting franchise because:
    1. It uses real martial arts moves and styles (unlike MK with its 6 moves per style....ps wtf is crab style?.........MK sucked ass after 1 and 2)
    2. Requires skill and timing.
    3. Im a martial artist!

    the reworked all the animations from the ground up, as well as editing/tweaking stats and movelists, added a new batch of chars plus customization.

    have faith, it shall not dissapoint.

    Can't wait for Tekken 6 personally. T5 was one of the best 3D fighters ever to be made. Looks like Namco are carrying on from the solid-base they built from the last iteration. The game might not look outstanding in screenshots (even though I think it looks great) you need to see the game in full motion - hellavalot faster and smooth as silk.

    Most of the characters have been re-done - Yoshimitsu and Law being the two main ones which have nearly been totally re-worked.

    i never owned a tekken game cause owning playstation consoles has never been my thing so therefore i never had tekken. i only got a ps 2 to play yakuza not even a year ago but buy then i already heard of tekken 6 coming to 360 so rather than pick it a older tekken game on ps 2 i am waitin for tekken 6 on 360

    I remember playing Tekken 3 a loooong time ago back on the Playstation 1. But as there's been more and more sequals, all they ever seem to be is better graphics. So there's no real incentive to buy Tekken 6, I'd rather save that money for something else. It's a lot like the situation with Fifa and Madden games. :\

    Tekken 3 was awesome, Tekken 5 was also a good game as it returned the controls from the 3 instead of carrying on the horrid controls from 4. I just hope 6 isn't too arcadey I would hate to see air juggling and wall/floor breaks taint an otherwise solid fight sim, but you have to have improvements I guess.

    to the guy with the crapbox comment tekken is coming out for xbox because PS3 is still learning how to sell games besides MGS4, and little big planet lol. Nah no shots at Sony but I guess no one will ever learn to just enjoy the game and be happy it's for all systems
