The Medici dynasty was the de facto ruler of the Italian Renaissance, leading the way in capacities ranging from finance to religion to politics to philanthropy. Those players looking to run amok in the founder of that dynasty's house--the Palazzo Medici--can now do so, provided they preorder Assassin's Creed 2 for the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 at GameStop.

Ubisoft said today that the Palazzo Medici, commissioned by Cosimo de Medici in the mid-15th century, will be a GameStop-exclusive preorder incentive for the anticipated action adventure Assassin's Creed 2. According to Ubisoft, the Medici family palace contains "secret treasure," which protagonist Ezio will be able to ruthlessly plunder. The offer is good for both online and in-store purchases.

Assassin's Creed 2 is expected to arrive for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC on November 17. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.

    I dont mean to come off like a troll but just think about how many pre orders are gonna be at say Gamestop just because they can have this little addition, it may not sound like a huge deal, but it does hurt the little guys, thats all i am saying, its not a stab at the game itself.

    Gimmicks, yeah thats what it all is, its offering little shiny trinkets and the corporate game retailers sign deals to get these little, relatively useless contents, running little mom and pop game stores out of business.

    They have access to the bells and whistles and people run for it, its sad for us little independent places just trying to make it. Buy local

    So, now we don't only have the console exclusive DLCs, but also maps exclusive to preorders from a particular shop? This sucks badly.

    i would REALLY like all this exclusive-extra stuff when you "order from this website online!" and blah blah blah, but i would really rather NOT buy it from so many different online purchasing sites... toom many sites to give out a credit card number to..

    I don't like Gamestop but that seems to be the place where I buy most of my games anyway.. I can't wait for this one to come out.. Looks like a lot of fun..

    Yaaaaaaaay, more bull**** exclusive to Americans, because apparently NA and Japan are the only countries on the planet who play games!

    God forbid there's a perfectionist out in Scotland, Afghanistan or, in my case, Australia, who is going to claw their hair out at missing out on content that is ACTUALLY IN THE GAME BUT CAN'T BE ACCESSED IN A ****ING RIDICULOUS MARKETTING DRIVE THAT WON'T ACTUALLY SELL ANY MORE COPIES THAN USUAL.

    Screw pre-order bonuses. Seriously.

    Gimmicks, they are always crappy and always come out later.

    This sort of things are teaching you to wait. Dont buy games on release anymore, you get charged stupid money and have to pay extra for extra content (prince of persia?)

    If you wait you get it all packaged up in one game and its £10-20 less

    Wait to buy, they like to rip of desperate people in the console industry unfortunately...

    I hate this preorder crap. It's good when you get extra stuff like an art book or something but when they lock something in the game just to get you to preorder it is wrong.
