AAA Lucha Libre headed for US

Mexican wrestling league set for gaming debut on PS3, 360, with versions for Wii, PSP and DS to follow.

While wrestling fans may have qualms with THQ's WWE SmackDown vs. Raw and Midway's TNA Impact!, they may be happy to know they're guaranteed at least one "AAA" title in the near future. Upstart publisher Slang has announced AAA: El Videojuego, the first Mexican wrestling game for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PSP, and DS.

The Xbox 360 and PS3 editions of the game are being developed with the Unreal Engine 3 by Immersion Software, with offices in Guadalajara, Mexico, and Bogota, Colombia. An Immersion representative today confirmed for GameSpot that the game should arrive on both those platforms in late 2009 or early 2010, with launches targeted for Latin America and the United States. Argentine developer Sabarasa Studios is handling development on the Wii, PSP, and DS editions of the game, with those editions set to trail Immersion's efforts to retail.

AAA: El Videojuego will feature the league's familiar six-sided ring, as well as a number of international stars, including ex-WCW wrestlers La Parka and Konnan. Other AAA stars who could be included but are not yet confirmed for the game include Octagon, Abismo Negro, Jack Evans, Teddy Hart, and Silver King. One issue not addressed in the teaser is whether the game will feature the company's "mini" division of diminutive wrestlers like El Guapito and Mascarita Sagrada.

yeah i look forward to lucha libre game, growing up watching WCW got me hooked with the high-flying, fast paced style. i wasnt much on Konnan, but i liked La Parka, Juventud Guerrera, Rey Mysterio (who's wwe now obviously on roids), Calypso, Psychosis, and on and on, but i must say Juventud, Mysterio (back then), and La Parka were my favorites. i really hope this new publisher works out and puts out a solid game. i haven't played even a decent wrestling game since N64, SVR has fallen off, and i've heard TNA wasnt much to have fun with. so good luck!

Finally!! A Lucha Libre next-gen game!!

I would REALLY like to see in FUTURE game of 'LEGENDS of LUCHA LIBRE' that would include Santo, Blue Demon, Tinieblas, Mil Mascaras, Rayo De Jalisco, etc...That would be the final nail on the wrestling game collection!! Cant wait for this game! its gonna be sweet!

I was never a fan of AAA, but I been watching it for months now, and I started to like it, then heard a videogame was being made, and I said cool, I hope it is good and have lots of modes, like story, the 3 tournaments the AAA has, playing with teams of 3, I don't know maybe the dome where they climb up, but if it doesn't if a sequel is made that might have them.
I hope the have different costumes, because I don't like the one ElectroShock has in the trailer, I have seen it, but I like better the other one he has in purple/white.
A little weird and funny seeing this in gamespot haha.

This is awesome news!! Finally a lucha libre game! Someone finally has the balls and smarts to go and give the THQ some real competition. TNA could be better but Midway knows squat about making TRUE wrestling games. Hopefully TNA will be made by a better publisher..but AAA getting some spotlight is nothing short of good news for diehard wrestling fans.

While i'm not a fan of this promotion (personally, i prefer CMLL, but now is not as good as it used to be) i'm really glad that a Mexican product will be realeased on all consoles.

If they add the midget wrestlers, this game might become a classic. I tried to watch some of the Lucha Libre wrestling and it is not bad.

Looks to be similar tot he Old school semi-realistic games back in the 90's.

To be honest, after rehash after rehash of that Smackdown game released in 1999, this one seems to be a much needed blast from the past. High impact conrey wrastlin'

Yeah I did see that it was Unreal engine, but it will be moddified for wrestling. What I was wondering is, will it be like the old N64 WCW NWO Revenge or Wrestlemania 2000 or Fire Pro Wrestling or will they try their own gimmicky twist to a wrestler???

Here is the first part of the match, at 1:39 look at Jack Evans thrown in the corner, jumps on the middle turnbuckle, backflips to the apron, kick to the head and then jumps on the top turnbuckle and does a standing double knee to the face. This is the kind of stuff that needs to be in this game. Oh yeah and all of these moves:

    gameweasl.

bro..it says in the article that the game will be using >"Unreal Engine 3"...in other words it's gonna be awesome. it's definitely a better engine then the ones THQ uses for the SvR series. not to mention with unreal engine you can do allot. adding more match types.Moves."etc". giving players more flexibility and freedom. more creative options like create a wrestler. create a finisher with perhaps more then 30 slots. absolutely no lag regardless if the person your playing online has a suck ass connection. it's just an overall better experience. as long as the people producing the game know how to utilize the unreal engine to the best of it's ability. we can expect it will be a hit and hopefully it does well in the financial market.

WOW AAA, I hope they have all the crazy matches like they do on the weekends. I wonder what engine they are using? Everyone here in the states have Galavison look it up and check out some matches. Here is a video of one of the best tag matches ever. These guys don't hold back and there are a bunch of Americans who wrestle in AAA.

I would like to see more videos on how the gameplay is going to be.

If this game can outdo SmackDown 07 - 09 and TNA Impact, I am all for it. Sadly I see this game doing awful when the final sales numbers come in. Like Fire Pro Wrestling Returns, not many people will buy it because it has wrestlers they don't know and all that junk.

I really hope this is good. I don't care about the roster as long as the moves look and feel right. TNA lacked a lot of polish, and had too few moves. This looks about as good as TNA, but it still has at least 6 months to get polished up. The camera needs to be zoomed in a bit more to add some excitement.

Sweet awesome. I'm glad to hear that there's some more competition in wrestling games. If only Fire Pro Wrestling could get a sweetness console upgrade. Of course there's just no wrestling games better than WWF No Mercy for N64. It was and, in my opinion, still is the best wrestling game ever.

    I look at:
    Immersion Software catalog.
    Immersion Software size.
    Teaser video.
    Title of the game.
Competition scores and number of games competing for the same saturated market genre.
    Release date.
    Engine used.

I took all this info and made a prediction that will be surprisingly accurate when the game is released. Just wait...
