Capcom unveils upcoming PSN slate

Classics Collections, Mega Man remakes go downloadable for PSP; more Resident Evil and Dino Crisis PlayStation originals headed for online store.

Although Sony updated its download library with several new titles six days ago, some might believe the online service still lacks enough titles to support the imminent October 1 launch of its UMD-less portable, the PSP Go. However, Capcom today announced it will help Sony augment its library selection with a slate of 10 titles confirmed for re-release on the PlayStation Network.

Fun fact: Captain Commando actually got his start in an excessively brutal black ops division of the fashion police. Pink is a fashion no-no.

The influx of Capcom titles begins tomorrow with the release of Capcom Classics Collection Remixed a compilation featuring Bionic Commando, 1941: Counter Attack, Magic Sword, Strider, and more than a dozen other titles. Capcom's other arcade archival bundle, Capcom Classics Collection Reloaded will follow at an undetermined date with a lineup, including Street Fighter II, King of Dragons, and Knights of the Round. Five other PSP games will also soon be joining the ranks of the downloadable, including Mega Man iterations Powered Up and Maverick Hunter X, as well as Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max.

Capcom is also planning to pad out its offerings of original PlayStation games downloadable for the PSP or the PlayStation 3 with Dino Crisis, Resident Evil 2, and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis set for Sony's online store. Meanwhile, Capcom promises to bring "one of Japan's most popular animes" to the PSN this summer with the release of the downloadable exclusive Fate/Unlimited Codes.

    When's the PSOne classics comin' out? I never have, but am itching to, play Resident Evil 3.

    Are they waiting until October for these releases? I really hope these'll come out at decent prices. If they intend to keep them at $20 to $30 like Unlimited Codes, they can keep them. Darkstalkers and the Megaman games are $15 games now new. They better not charge $20 to $30 for older games. I nearly passed out when I saw Fate/Unlimited Codes' price. I hope they'll lower the price of Classics Reloaded and Remixed too but I doubt it. Also, does Darkstalkers have that obnoxious Memory Card Reading problem that I found out Alpha 3 MAX has? I could've used that knowledge before hand because I thought I could just pick it up and play it like the several other games I bought yesterday and I found out that the game has a rather annoying bug that won't read your stick until its at least below 2 gig of memory. I really hope they fix that before they release it on PSN.

    It'd be cool to even see RE Zero show up on one of the current systems, because I'm not considering a Wii as much as a Gamecube. Would be easier if it showed up on PSP, but I'm definitely looking forward to some of these releases. RE Zero, in my opinion is the best, and RE 2 is first rate in game design right along with it. I don't know about the latest one, seems overboard.

    This might be off topic - but what I want from Capcom is Breath of Fire 6, 7 and beyond. They make a lot of great games - so what's the problem here with the Breath of Fire series? It's not like they have to compete with Final Fantasy anymore, Square probably has FF on a twenty year schedule anyway...

    Street Fighter 3 Max is the best fighting game to grace the PSP, rivalled only by Tekken DR A lot of the games rock, but were missing the Million Dollar Baby: Monster Hunter Unite. I could slap them across the ocean since UK gets the DL and the bundle.

    @LinusBlue: Dino Crisis was a Survival Horror title simmiler to the first three Resident Evil Games except instead of hordes of slow undead trying to kill you there was fast Raptors and of course the good old T-Rex, the game was super fun, im so going to be buying it when it's out, i just hope Dino Crisis 2 gets the same treatment as that one was even more fun, i dunno if i'll be buying the others but this is great news for all.

    @KingOfOldSkool - true the PS3 has a lot going for it this holiday. Microsoft is rumored to be hitting hard with a price plan that attempts to overshadow that, though.

    I don't think Microsoft's pricing is going to be able to compete with all that Sony has going for it this holiday, but it might be the PSP that gets to boost and not as much the PS3.

    Only time will tell...

    i played resident evil 2 great game never played 3 defintly get it especially since mvc2 coming out late. i played all even resident evils never odds LOL. so i have to catch up on my odds.

    A strong collection of games. Most of these I already own but its a nice deal for all the new gamers that never got to play some of these classics. Why would you complain about this? If you don't think its a good deal then don't buy anything. Its actually totally different than all of these bullsht dlc scams that have been going on. Instead of cutting games short to sell the rest to you later, this is simply just releasing classics for those that never got to play them.
