At last year's E3, Microsoft unveiled 1 vs. 100, a game based up the US TV show of the same name; however, details on a possible UK release were not forthcoming.

Today, Microsoft has announced that a beta test of the game will be coming to Xbox Live in the UK, France, and Germany on July 10. For those unfamiliar with the show, 1 vs. 100 is a quiz game hosted by Bob Sagat, which involves "the one" answering a set of multiple-choice trivia questions. Though losing does not result in a Tiger Uppercut to the face, which seems a shame.
The one plays against "the mob," a group of 100 other individuals who answer the same set of questions. Members of the mob who answer any question incorrectly are eliminated from the round, and the prize money for the one goes up. After each round, the one can choose to take the money and run or continue to play against the mob for bigger prizes. However, if the one gets an incorrect answer, the prize is then split among the remaining members of the mob.
The Xbox version will follow the same formula but take place entirely on Xbox Live with players represented by their chosen avatars. The one will play solitary while the mob will be split into groups of four, allowing for playing with friends and to not have to listen to 99 other Xbox Live members scream abuse when a question is answered incorrectly.
Microsoft has hired in a team of "trivia experts" to come up with new questions for each game, and there are a variety of real prizes to be won. These include MP3 players, digital cameras, phones, laptops, HD TVs and holidays. UK players can also win a car, and players in Germany and France will be able to win one, but only through sweepstakes. The game requires a hard drive to play and is free to all Xbox Live gold members aged 18 or over.
