God of War III demo included in God of War Collection

November's $40, 720p remastering of first two God of War games will come with code to download E3 demo of 2010 PS3 adventure.

One of the centerpieces of Sony's press briefing at June's Electronic Entertainment Expo was its demo of God of War III. (See below.) Sony served up the same demo to crowds at Comic-Con and the Penny Arcade Expo, but gamers who couldn't make it out to any of those events will soon be able to play through the sample for themselves.

Kratos' killing time will come sooner than expected.

Today, Sony Computer Entertainment announced that November's God of War Collection will include the God of War III demo, four months before the game itself goes on sale. The demo will not be on the game disc but can be downloaded from the PlayStation Network with a code included in the game.

Of course, the main draw of the $40 God of War Collection will be its inclusion of the first two God of War games with remastered 720p high-definition graphics. Given the PS3's current lack of backward compatibility, the God of War collection will be the only way gamers without a PS2 or early PS3 model can enjoy the two games.

When it launched on the PlayStation 2 in 2005, the first God of War drew critical accolades and commercial success, selling more than 2.4 million units in the US alone. In 2007, God of War II drew similar high praise from reviewers and sold nearly 2 million units domestically despite being on a legacy platform. A PSP prequel, God of War: Chains of Olympus, has sold more than 800,000 units domestically since its 2008 debut.

    I lost interest in the Playstation 2 just before God of War 1 & 2 came out. I almost bought them but didn't. I gained my video gaming interest back when the PS3 came out. Now I can play God of war 1, 2, and 3 all for the first time within a few months! I think this will pretty much rock!!

I think Microsoft should do that with Halo 1&2...it would be money in the bank!

    Here's the thing about that. Have you played the first 2 Halo games on the 360? They look great. The 360's emulation software is really amazing and it actually upconverts them to 1080p. With that said I would still most likely buy the upgrade just as I am going to do with God of War. It almost hurts to play these games on my PS3's shotty emulation software. They probably look and play better on a PS3 with the emotion chip.

    Mainly buyin this for the demo but i wanna see what the remastered versions are like. I already own the orginals both of them, and i run them off my 60 gig ps3 which is 100% backward compat, but i want to see how these look. i cant wait for this.

    You all have to admit having God of war chains of olympus would be cool but I'm already happy enough. I mean God of war 1 and 2 on ps3 with trophy support and a god of war 3 demo(which I'll try first mainly because I wanna see what that's like first). But yea this is a day one buy. Good thing I have my drivers permit, I can drive to Best buy to pick it up. Can't wait. 11-10-09 FTW. @HipnotiKal Hahahahaha!!! Are you insane? 360 doesn't deserve a game like God of war. They took enough exclusives like MGS and final fantasy. As long as Sony lives they won't give God of war to the xbox.

    So what about the folks who will not buy the GOW collection...we just a$$ed out or will it eventually be available to everyone? I already have the 1st two games so I dont see the need to buying them again. I guess I will wait for March then!

    i have an 80 gb ps3 which has no ps2 compatablity
    now that god of war 1 and 2 r coming on ps3 i can play it in high - def
    i hope sony releases all its classic ps2 games on ps3 like ratchet and clank etc
    on high def format

    I bought the the 60gb model online so I can have the backwards compatibility to play classics like this, but I'm still buying this collection even if it didn't come with the demo.

    ...Now release a Metal Gear Collection with hidef versions of Twin Snakes, Sons of Liberty and Subsistence (all love to original PS1 metal gear, but its already available for $10 on PSN, so a PS3 port of the gamecube remaster would be a better draw if you ask me)
