Despite having just launched in the UK, many retailers have already cut the price of the PSP Go to just under £200. This marks a £25 saving from the recommended retail price of £224.99.

The discounted PSP Go has appeared at Amazon, Game, Gamestation, Play and HMV. However, other online retailers, such as Zavvi and Tesco.com, have failed to follow suit and are still selling the handheld at its RRP.

The handheld's launch on October 1 was rather low-key, with none of the stock shortages, overnight camping, or armed robbery that marked the PlayStation 3 launch.

Sony recently announced that there would be no way for existing PSP owners with a back catalogue of UMD titles to transfer them over to the download-only PSP Go. However, gamers will be able to download a free copy of Gran Turismo PSP, as well as redeem a further three games if they own any UMD, via the PSP Go rewards scheme.

There are currently 225 games available to download for the PSP Go on the PlayStation Network, as well 13,300 TV episodes and 2,300 movies.

    I think the price is still to high and with almost everyone short of money this year this thing is history. I stick with the PSP 3000.

    If you have the money to throw around, and you're not a fan of optical media, by all means go out and get one. You're paying for the convenience of needing less. Otherwise, keep/buy a UMD based PSP.

    £200....meh go to play.com guys, £150 now....they obviously not selling very well or they are smart, the psp go should be cheaper than the 3000 to be honest, it has a smaller screen ffs and downloading games will cost you more than buying discs

    For people who don't actually own a PSP, or for children that want to be in the latest gadgetry craze. Even parents might be purchasing this for their kids, for Christmas to come.

    My friend owns one with Gran Turismo free. To be fair, he sold his old one a long time ago. I have to admit, it really does feel strange to hold. As slim as an iPod Touch... I did warn him about the value for money, typically he didn't care.

    200 quid for a 16 gig PSP Go! or 250 quid for a 120 gig PS3 Slim. You do the math.

    Am I missing something? 225 games for download? Doesn't look like near that many when I sign into Playstation Network. There's only 5 mini's, "fieldrunners" doesn't even show up when I select the "mini's" tab. Rubbish release. Glad I didn't pay cash for my PSP go, traded a bunch of games at JB HI-FI and bargained them down to $398 for the console. Still waiting for my Gran Turismo & 3 free games vouchers. How long can it take Sony to send the 12 people who bought a PSP go their crappy "rewards"? Poor effort Sony.

    Vote with your wallets guys! if your going to buy a psp get a 2000 or 3000 model and upgrade the memory. If you buy this all your telling Sony is that its okay to overcharge for old tech!

    Ridicolously overpriced....you can buy almost a ps3 slim, or an xbox360 elite for around that price...ofc you cannot bring either of these on the bus, but still I think it's absolutely not worth it...

    And also imagine that now games are just downloaded, Sony will definitely have control on when to release what games on PSN and PSPgo store. With PSP, you can import the UMD from other regions if you don't want to wait or want to play games that won't release in other regions. With PSPgo, even that advantage is gone.

    not gonna sell inless they make it so you can transfur your umds to it but it is sony and they are just greedy so they will try to get you to buy the game again which most people won't.

    The UK PSP store also has considerably less games and content than the US version. Here in the UK the PSP 3000 just offers a lot more. For just one example, I noticed a few sonic games were mentioned and are in the US store but they are not in the UK.

    see no backwards compatibility, and me not being able to transfer one of my many psp games (20 or so) is just not worth it when i can buy a 3000 seeing as i have a 1000, and the upgrade cost there is about half the price of buying the go which i wouldn't have any games for. I highly doubt this is going to be a great sale for sony until they bring the price to a competitive level with there own psp 3000 and the Nintendo DSI.

    I cannot believe that Sony thinks people will buy this peice of machinery. I use "machinery" but you know I mean something else. Anyway, why would I pay for less hardware, pay for games I already own, and on top of that have to use the software Sony makes you use. I tried that stuff, it was a pain to install and with my low speed connection it took an hour and a half to download a 300MB file...I will stick with UMDs for now, less of a pain. If Sony does not watch it, they might just pull a Sega...I bet by next year they will sell it for less but if they don't, well, bye bye Sony...

    None of the games that we would actually LIKE to buy will come out UMD now =_= and for those that already have UMD collections they expect you to pay again to play them? "This is madness" springs to mind.

    The real reason for the go is to make people see its high price and compare it with a 3000 the 3000 is better and cheaper so people buy that and if people also buy a Go its win win for sony

    There is one thing that continually off puts me buying a PSP. It's not that the Go! costs almost the same as a PS3 but the fact that every E3 event reveals a new upgraded model and the rumoured PSP 2 can not be that far away.

    I don't want to spend money on anything to be told next June that you don't have the highest spec model you paid all the money for anymore and as a result I am missing some of my favourite titles.

    Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo, God of War, Little Big Planet, Wipeout and the rumoured Uncharted PSP going into the works

    When are Sony going to understand that the Go is way overpriced. If it was priced between £130-£150 I just might have considered trading my old PSP for this. At the moment though there is no chance of that happening.

    Is it really a choice between a PS3 and this? They have different uses and audiences. So not sure you can all say oh lets just get a ps3 for a few quid more. I might get one after a year or so when the price is way down as quite happy with my psp 2000 but i really like the look of the go and i dont mind having games on a stick, great idea.

    Nice one, it's still a shame that you can't get 30% HMV staff discount of consoles though. But it's close to value for money. It's a shame that my friend has already paid for the Go before the price drop.
