Between its massive sales and movie potential, The Force Unleashed has been in the news of late. Today, the Jedi-based action game made headlines again, as LucasArts announced it was working on downloadable content for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the title.

First up will be a series of "additional costumes and character models that can be used while playing through the single-player campaign," according to LucasArts. The new models will include such figures from Star Wars lore as Jedi knight Luke Skywalker, his master Obi-Wan Kenobi, and two Jedi council members: Ki-Adi-Mundi and Kit Fisto. LucasArts has a history of introducing character models, allowing players to play through Mercenaries as Han Solo or Indiana Jones.

While fun for fans, the first content update will be small compared to the second, which will add a full-fledged mission to the popular game. [WARNING: Possible spoilers ahead!] The new mission will be set in the half-destroyed Jedi Temple, former center of the vanquished order's power, on the city-world Coruscant, capital of the Galactic Empire. Playing as Darth Vader's secret apprentice, players will explore the ruins for clues to his origins in general--and his father in particular. [End potential spoilers.]

Both content updates are being developed internally at LucasArts by the Force Unleashed team. The two will be released via Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Store this fall at unannounced price points, with more content--including themes and picture packs--to follow.

I wonder if they announced this when seeing the spike of sell backs to game stores after everyone beat it so quickly?

If more people hold on to their original purchase then there will be less used copies available for sale so .... surprise they get another $60 retail sale.

Excited about more content, its truly a great game, however maybe they could fix a few bugs as well and make it also a patch? Another suggestion would be to allow replaying of the Vader mission without having to start a new game each time, its the only level you cant play in Mission Select. Adding Co-Op play would be a wise suggestion as well.

To the people who wan to play as Darth Vader. That would be terrible. Considering he doesn't have lightning and only a 3 hit combo, they would have to drasticly alter him to actually be fun. The reason he was fun in the first level was because he was super powerful against weak enemys. He wouldn't survive in most of the other levels. Unless he was just a skin, then i'm all for it, But I would much rather have brand new characters.

Isn't this stuff just what was in the PS2 version? I think I remember it having these new levels.

JohnnyNeat you dont seem to understand how business works do you? Granted I dont enjoy it any more than you at least understand that they have to find a way to make $$$ to continue supplying us with games, movies, cartoons and other fun toys. And as far as not including some content in some versions of the game...that was advertised in on the web site. They specifically said that the wii, ps2, and 360/ps3 versions were all different. Stop thinking your getting screwed over by the system that is telling you what its doing and following a predictable business model. Just pay the games and enjoy

WTF? wheres Darth MAul? Count Dooku? or even Darth VAder? sure the edi they give to play as are popular but the only SIth character we play as in TFU is Sidious and apprentice(Vader is in 1 level you cant redo unless you start a new game). Darth MAul would be the best, double bladed lightsaber? oh thats beast

That isnt DLC thats just an add on DLC has to be something big! not a few outfits or a mission that will likely suck and cost a bomb

    @DannyK5
Like what, Free? sike, Lucas is too cheap and bloated to offer the Wii content for free and anything new at a price point. That makes to much sense or is too fair to fans and customers. MS & Lucas Arts is relationship only topped by MS & EA or Activision.

  • DannyK5

    Posted Oct 1, 2008 7:11 am GMT

Maybe they can come up with some DLC that makes you feel better for buying a game that is over in 7 hours.

  • JohnnyNeat

    Posted Oct 1, 2008 6:58 am GMT

Wow, holding off on levels that made it onto the Wii version is Lucas' Business model of raping fans while offering nothing really new. Screw Lucas' lame ass already. I'm bored with him and his idea of how to treat fans and customers. Rape, Rape & Rape some more.

Just remember this, when Stars Wars Finally makes it to blu-ray expect single disks of the whole series dropped SLOWLY followed SUPER slowly by a box set of the original trilogy then the updated original trilogy then the new trilogy only to finally be dropped as a super expensive complete box set that may or may not be limited. LUCAS sucks balls!

I show in an interview somewhere that that mission was supposed to be in the game but got scrapped.....more profitable to charge for it I suppose......Anyway, DUEL MODE for PS3 and X360!!!!!!!Thats All I Want and Need.I'm tired of replaying all the missions just to fight The Jedi Bosses.

    this is sweet.
even though i was able to beat the game within about 8 hours of play time, it is still a blast to replay the story mode, because now i fricken own! now im set out to do all bonus objectives and collect all holocrons, and from the very first level again, with all my new powers and everythingt hat you dont have in the beginning of the game, i just like to slowly walk through the game w/ my black saber and sith armor and jsut own the hell out of everything, its so much fun!
    the replay value is great!
but the new level - thats gunna be intense!
i just hope it doesnt cost more than a couple of bucks at the very most.
btw, does anyone know what the deal was with XBL being offline monday?
