What does Master Chief do when he's not battling the Covenant? What does he look like under that helmet and full body armour?

If these questions have been keeping you up at night, then you might be interested in entering a new Microsoft competition titled Halo: Recut.

The competition, which is open to all those in Europe, tasks fans of the game to make a video showing "the unseen adventures of Master Chief." Microsoft has some suggestions--perhaps, "Master Chief's Meet The Parents, a Spartan high school reunion, or even break dancing to MC Hammer."

The competition is open from January 31 to March 21. Wannabe winners should upload their video masterpieces at the Official Web site. The best video from each country will be entered in the final draw, which will be judged by Bungie Studios.

The overall prize winner will find him or herself whisked off to Los Angeles to study for one month at the New York Film Academy, along with flights, accommodation, car rental, and $2,000 spending money.

Movies can be created using a video camera, gaming footage, animation, video editing software, or any combination of the above.

    I look forward to seeing the kind of funny stuff people make. If people go for the "epic" recreation, it would fall flat due to lack of budget, and I think a skit is the best way to go.

    LA isnt that big of a deal guys, heres a taste of what its like here. Lots of traffic, lots of people who are fake and will stab you in the back for a rail of cocaine, and some poorly designed streets. And there you have it, LA. At least weve got some cool night clubs.

    Hahaha, my friendly American warning to my European gaming friends: DON'T TAKE IT UP! Not because it's a chance to visit the States, but it's LA for God's sake. You couldn't PAY me to go there any more. I've been to LA about 3 times, and that's enough. Sounds like a fun tourney, but I'd rather have the cash for the ticket just delivered to my door.

    I like how all of microsoft's ideas for videos are all ripped off from the commercial from that stupid "Meet the Spartans" movie coming out soon. I saw spartans dancing (two ideas) and the title of the movie is the third. We can do better than this, guys...
