Apple sells 3 million iPads over the weekend

Following Wi-Fi-only iPad mini and fourth-gen iPad launch, Cupertino company doubles sales of third-generation Wi-Fi-only models in March.
Apple had a busy and successful weekend. The company announced today that it sold 3 million Wi-Fi-only iPad models over the weekend, doubling the previous record of 1.5 million Wi-Fi-only versions sold during the launch weekend of the third-generation 4G model in March.
Unlike in March, Apple had two new products on sale this weekend: the iPad mini and the fourth-generation iPad. According to Apple CEO Tim Cook, the company is "practically sold out" of iPad minis, and he noted that the firm is working to meet demand.
Apple did not provide specific sales figures for each model.
The Wi-Fi-only iPad mini model is available now beginning at $330. It features a 7.9-inch display and 10 hours of battery life. A Wi-Fi/4G model will go on sale November 16 for $460. As for the fourth-generation iPad, that device boasts a 9.7-inch screen and a new A6X chip. It is currently available beginning at $500.

Stereotypical responses here. Everyone claiming their brand is the best or someone else's is the worst. For what? To justify your reasoning for your personal purchases?

Each mobile OS has features that are attractive to different people. There is nothing with iOS, Android or Windows Phone.
iOS has the biggest library of high quality software.
Android is the most customizable
Windows Phone is the best integrated
Those are generic statements about each, but is a general idea of what each offers. Stop warring over which is better because what is better for you isn't necessarily better for someone else.
Apple products are expensive. Always have been. People aren't stupid for paying premium for Apple products. People are just willing to spend the extra money on what they think will be a better device for them. If you save money for yourself getting a cheaper device that works better for you, then good for you. Enjoy it and stop wasting time raining on everyone else's parade.
Surprise surprise. The Apple drones would camp overnight to be the first to buy a turd as long as it came from Apple.
iOS app store = 350,000+ apps. Android = 85,000+ ... Nexus 7 feels like a chunk of plastic, and it doesn't stop there -- The apps are blown up, clunky droid phone apps. You lose.

Who said anything about Android vs iOS? I didn't.
Products being released that are technologically obsolete, yet cost FAR, FAR more then they should because they are aesthetically appealing and "cool". = Lame.
I didn't mean that aesthetics aren't important, because they are in most cases... I was trying to say that most of apple products are lame, and how it's lame that apple producs are actually being a status symbol for a person. The first part is my opinion, of course. lol
But yes, looks are very important (in most cases) for a product to sell well. For example, Nintendo, MS, and Sony try to make their consoles sleek and appealing to the eye.
However, there are a few instances where people will overlook somethings aesthetics if it's worth it function-wise. For instance, the pc case i bought is hideous. But it has it all. Excellent cooling, more space than the average car garage, and so on. (exaggerating on the space, but w/e)
I guess it all depends on what a person is looking for when they make their purchase: Form or function.

Tech or not, good aesthetics play a very substantial role in the success of any products, and using a device that you think looks good does enhance your experience. Lots of time and money is spent on refining a device's looks in the development process. And if they knew a device could sell more because of its aesthetics, of course they would price it accordingly, because why the hell not? The "ugly as hell but powerful and functional" concept doesn't work for consumer electronics

The problem is ...Apple is known for innovative products this is not in anyway and not only that they really did over price the thing I am sorry but almost double the competitions price not the smartest move. The next generation in 6months to a year from now might dominate, but right now it just blends in with a larger price tag...
@davsonamission The iPad mini is a smaller, just as powerful product as the iPad. It runs both iPhone and iPad apps and has the same resolution as the iPad 2. Sure, the droid loons are going to bawl and cry about "NO RETINA" but the fact of the matter is, it's generally just as light as the iPhone 5 and between the sized of iPad and iPhone. Basically what you have is iPhone portability with a very solid sized screen that doesn't take anything away from it's mobility. And when you throw in the same 10 hour battery as the original iPad, you've got yourself one hell of a mobile device.
Idk what the hell happened to my comment (disappeared?) but regardless...yes Apple has more tablet optimized apps (which will no longer be an issue in the coming year), and yes IOS has a history of stability, but its simply because that all apple products are locked down... and really your concerned about the appearance of the item that much then the ipad is just perfect for you ...i cant warrant paying $130 more for this product plain and simple. The 10" Apple Ipad is a slam dunk it is hands down the best 10" tablet on the market but the mini its not the most stellar example of an apple product even you have to admit that.
@davsonamission Blown up phone apps do not count man.. I'm assuming since you're acting extremely dumb and loonish toward android that you own one. The blown up phone apps look completely horrific on a tablet. And yes, I've used both products. Android applications just generally feel cheapier opposed to the iOS app store. Every single droid I've held has felt like cheap plastic and a certain clunkiness that you simply do not experience on Apple products.

I actually had a discussion with a few of my friends the other day about how the Apple fans are the most rabid and defensive (I'll leave out the other bad things lol) about their products. More so than the fans of any other product or company out there. I mean, it's crazy.

The important part of this article is that it brings awareness to how many people in our society actually have brain tumours. 3 million people over the weekend developing cancerous intracranial neoplasms is unacceptable.
Thankfully, more articles like this will increase public awareness and will, hopefully, increase pressure on the World Health Organization and pharmaceutical companies to develop a vaccine.
Together, we can work on a brain-tumour-free society, world, and future.

2 Like I'm very excited about the iPad Mini. It's the perfect compromise between the huge iPad and tiny iPod Touch. Once the 2nd gen iPad Mini is announced I'll have my money ready. :)
I like apple devices, they have a top design , good hardware, good app support, good and easy interface, and they are status item of our capitalist society, if you have them, you have money.
In some tech critera they are arguable better in orthers arguable worse, in the end, it all falls down to the taste and to how well a company markets itself among the masses.
I congrant apple for it success on fighting the capitalist fight, and I am part of its wagon, until somethign beterr (to my taste) comes out.
