Asia Shippin' Out July 3-9: EDF: Insect Armageddon
Gamers will have a week dealing with all sorts of alien invasions, ranging from space primates to bugs.
While last week was all about the debut of Resident Evil on the 3DS and Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition on consoles, this week will be bombarded with a number of games hell-bent on invasions from extraterrestrials. First up, Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon will be out tomorrow for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Developed by Vicious Cycle Games, the people behind the Matt Hazard series and Dead Head Fred, EDF: Insect Armageddon will put gamers in the role of an EDF soldier as he kills all manner of giant ants, spiders, and other insects invading Earth. Bug hunters will get access to 300 weapons and tools, as well as a chance to play the campaign mode with two other people. Multiplayer options include a six-player mode where gamers battle waves of bugs until they all are overrun.
The English version of the Move-enabled Ape Escape game will be out exclusively for the PS3 via the PlayStation Network. The game has players ridding the world of the alien ape invasion by using a slingshot to lure them and a net to catch them in a rail-shooter perspective. Players will use the Move controller to capture the many types of space-faring apes led by head honcho simian Specter. The game will be available for download tomorrow.
In lieu of the upcoming shooter Resistance 3, Sony will be releasing a Resistance Dual Pack for the low price of S$52.90($43.23). The bundle will contain both Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2. Head down to GameSpot's reviews page of these two titles for more information. The bundle will be out tomorrow.
Finally, the zombie-slaying downloadable content game Dead Block will be out on Xbox Live Arcade. Players control a construction worker, a traffic warden, or a boy scout as they survive waves of zombies using all sorts of armaments. Players can either fight it out alone or with a friend in split-screen mode. The game is slated to be out on July 6.
