Aspyr Media, Inc. to Bring Activision’s Call of Duty 2 to Handheld Devices
Press Release
LOS ANGELES – E3 EXPO – (May 9, 2006) – Aspyr Media, Inc., a leading publisher of interactive entertainment, today announced that it will develop and publish an adaptation of Activision, Inc.'s highly successful PC title, Call of Duty 2, for PDAs and smartphones. The game will be optimized for Intel Corporation's newest processor family (codenamed Monahans) based on third-generation Intel XScale technology. Call of Duty 2 is expected to be available for PDAs and smartphones that incorporate the new processor later this year. Activision's Call of Duty 2 is an award-winning, intense and cinematic first-person action game that transports gamers to the front lines of World War II.
"With Call of Duty 2, Aspyr is leading the way in bringing a true 3D gaming experience to pocket PCs," said Ted Staloch, Executive Vice President, Publishing for Aspyr. "This type of gaming is made possible because of the performance capabilities of the Intel Monahans family of application processors."
Added Justin Berenbaum, Senior Manager, Business Development for Activision, "It's important to Activision that the cinematic look and feel of Call of Duty 2 translate appropriately to the pocket PC environment. Thanks to Intel's technology and the experienced development team at Aspyr, we're confident that Call of Duty 2 will be a must-have for mobile gamers."
Call of Duty 2 will continue the trademark cinematic intensity of the Call of Duty brand. With exceptional AI that fights, evades and acts realistically, chaotic battlegrounds with exploding artillery and whizzing bullets, authentic battleground recreation, a vast arsenal of weaponry, and a highly polished gameplay progression, the excitement of the original PC version will be optimized and transported to handhelds. Fight alongside your virtual brothers and take on the role of an ordinary Allied soldier or go head-to-head with peers via the game's wireless multiplayer modes.
