Assassin's Creed III set in Colonial America

To hate a this game someone would have to be an idiot or a liberal,oh wait they're the same thing. Our founding fathers were incredible and if you've never read their original writtings then you are missing out on an insight into history,politics, and religion like you could never imagine.

@GamerLegend10 I was a little harsh with my wording and definitely don't think all "chaps" are as bad as OmenUK. I just hear it a lot from people from other countries. And its a repetitive slam that gets old quick..

@dRuGGeRnaUt How is this game going to be about supporting our troops? Its set 300 years ago which is set before the army, marines and airforce. Also just because there arent tall buildings means nothing because most of the buildings were smaller in size the tallest buildings will still be usable for looking for buildings and sort. To all those saying this is a bad choice and we should have gone to some place in Asia, i say: In what way does Desmond look asian? Remember this is about his ancestry. France would not have been a good idea because in the story of these Assassins its all been about a fight between two sides, during the French Revolution and Napoleon Dynasty there werent sides, it was a very chaotic mess with very little assassinations. During the American Revolution they Assassinated many British Officers. Also One last point the hidden blade is there, if you look at the steel box art for the special orders, on the hand thats carrying the pistol if you look closely enough you will see it, thanks

I like the setting, not because I'm American and it's set over here, but because it's new. Ubisoft has never done this before, so it's not going to be the next Call Of Duty. Call Of Duty had the same gameplay, over and over again. Instead of Saving citizens to make your assassins, maybe we will save people from the Salem Witch Trials. There is so much stuff they can do here. Don't give it up just because of the setting.

interested to see what they do about the lack of very tall buildings in colonial america. My guess is they will use trees a lot. - just please don't let this game become a "support our troops" piece. Not that they don't deserve support, just that it gets old in movies/games. And personally, i dont like politics in ma games brah

@Philly1UPer I really don't know how many ppl used that hidden gun but i bet few enjoyed it. after all, if you are going to use a gun in every assassination, they better bring in a sniper rifle and change the whole concept. my point was that a gun does not really fit in the arsenal of a stealthy assassin who has to blend in and attack from above and etc. about the gunmen that you mentioned - well i guess that was to make the game i little bit more difficult. anyone who has played AC for few hours, can easily go, melee his target, slaughter groups of 12 or more guards and proceed with the next mission - which is not really an enjoyable play-trough. simply said - i prefer a ninja type than a berserker. and pls, don't get me wrong - i am a fan of the series and i hope the AC3 will be awesome, but it seems that ubisoft has deviated way too much from the initial concept which as you can see in most of the forums - is not much appreciated

@Hazzerz Native Indians did not usually wear collared shirts. This was not a common practice. Tie this into the fact that is not a tomahawk he is wielding, the likelyhood he is a native indian is slim. Most the Indian attacks were focused in the western parts of the colonies, and the Revolutationary War took place mostly near the east coast such as North, South Carolina , Virginia, New York, New Jersey and parts of Canadia.

also we should love our brothers in europe thats where my family originated from and the majority of americans should realize that without europe there would also be no america that I know and love today so to any bastard that would make stupid comments about america or england should shut up

colonial america is brilliant. any body saying other wise must be crazy this is something that has not been explored much if any at all. I for one cant wait!!! way to go ubisoft for giving us something so different than every other game out there. heard some retard mention why not put it somewhere else like china japan russia europe or even middle east. if they did that it would be like every other assassins creed wouldnt it stupid. also soccer does suck thats why we have nfl lol joke soccer is a great sport and not that easy

Look I'm European and I had my own expectations for the series as much as anyone else did. Let's keep an open mind. If ACB and ACR were a testing ground for new game mechanics as the very least, we can be sure that there should be some interesting stuff in ACIII. Admittedly I haven't warmed up to the setting yet but that took some adjustment in ACII as well which is saying something considering I'm well acquainted with both the places (which I've actually visited for both games) and the history. I think we should really keep an open mind before sighing and crying foul. We're all ready to give peace a chance, well I say let's give Ubi a chance ;)

Im gonna have to say a lot of the negative comments about a trailer that shows no actual gameplay are only negative because they are not American, There is no WWII or both.

Ok, there is one image that shows something like a hidden blade on his left arm...but ONE. only one :(. the good news is that probably there will be dual-wielding - cobos might include the tomahawk and the blade. from some images, the fighting style looked to me like the one Mel Gibson was using in the "Patriot" movie. also, probably there will also be a rifle in the assassin's arsenal....tooo many firearms Ubisoft

Wow, I have just saw the new screens and...and...there is no hidden blade! there are two pistols, a funky bow and arrows and a tomahawk (that's awesome). you might say - how do you know?! well on the first screen the assassin was going for the kill with the tomahawk!?!?! no hidden blade, no AC game!

so i saw the screens,it looks amazing already the graphics look top quality and i was wondering will it be free roam like RDR was looks like it.

Looks like most of the comments on here are surprisingly reasonable and polite. I'm impressed with the internet! It's growing up :') But just to note on the few squabbling over whether the UK or US is better: To answer this we have to refer to the only thing that matters. The World Cup (2010). England 1-1 USA A draw. Hmm. Guess it's even stevens. So stop arguing :)

@sillycatfish Amen, dude. As much as I loved AC1 and 2, Brotherhood and Revelations were patently transparent attempts to cash in on the franchise. Still, I'll probably pick up 3... but they had better find a damn good way to deal with the advent of the firearm come AC4...

Don't know what you folks are whining about. AC has only improved with age. The first AC was absolute garbage when it came to the extreme amount of repetitiveness. Yes, the gameplay and graphics were great, but I got bored. However, as new installments came in they were always much better. Props to Ubisoft.

This was my second guess for the next AC. My first however was the industrial age over in Great Britain, late 1800's early 1900's. Would've been awesome.

Really Ubisoft? I'm seeing Boston, Philadelphia, and a truckload of propaganda. We'll have a parade of "founding fathers" and heroes of the revolt. I am not hopeful, but they've had two betas disguised as full on games to perfect it so at least the gameplay should be good. The propaganda is going to be sickening though.

Wow ppl still follow AC, I stopped following when when they bent ezio over and threw some udders on him for and extra 2 games, cuz letsd face it this has degraded into a cash cow franchise. then again i did enjoy AC1 and 2 so maybe i'll give #3 a go. ill just skip AC:3 brotherhood and rev again lol

@ tizmond I don't think that's a bad thing, personally I felt as if I was playing the same game over and over and don't get me wrong Assassins Creed is one of my favourite franchises but it was getting stale. check the images and the assassin climbs trees, maybe there will be forest free running. As for secret temples I hope they work something out, they were some of my favourite sections of the previous game.

Tizmod, #1: There probably won't be viewpoints. Because Ubisoft is taking the AC gameplay mechanics, and completely overhauling them. Things are changing DRASTICALLY. And, who says that just because its colonial america, means no more catacombs? How does that mean that? HOW? #2: AC3 is going to conclude Desmonds story.

I've no doubt the story will be good, but colonial America ??? Bad idea. No distinct landmarks & zero tall buildings for viewpoints. There are so many better and more distinct places it could have been set: Victorian Britain, Spain, France, China, Japan, Greece, Ancient Persia, South America, Russia etc. Colonial America may have been better as an expansion, rather than the main focus area of the game. There will be no underground catacomb or temple sections, which is a big negative straight away and no monuments or temples to climb up. On the other hand, maybe a more open setting like colonial America might be a bit more refreshing than the free-running and building-climbing in the previous games. But, my own view is: If it aint broke, don't fix it. We'll just have to wait and see. I just hope they wrap up Desmond's story soon and don't drag it out for another 3 games, otherwise it'll just start to get boring.

I am so happy about this. The entire setting works perfectly, there's the british (templars), the Americans (assassins), and indians could be one of the guilds, not sure about the other ones. As long as they pu this together semi-solidly it's ging to be sick. I am so stoked. Get on my level.

well i'll admit that i was wrong when it came to the ending of AC:R thinking that it would just be based on desmond, this game for just the sound of it i can tell it will be awesome and probably hands down the best of the franchise for now

first off, awesome, secondly legend, wait for it, dary. This is one of my favorite periods in history, meeting with my favorite franchise in video games. super excited. and to everyone complaining, ubisoft knows there stuff. and they been working on it for three years. so why all the complaining?

Well Desmond is from the States, so I guess the storyline had to move there eventually.

Let me take a wild guess, they were watching "The Patriot" when this idea popped in their head. I do see something interesting here. Let's see what happens.
