Gears of War gets bundled with Oz Xbox 360s from this week.
Gears of War has been one of the best-selling games for the Xbox 360 and has won plenty of industry awards since its release last year. Now Microsoft is bundling the action shooter with its console in Australia, selling a special Gears of War pack for A$699.95 ($546).
The pack will contain a copy of Gears of War, a 360 console with a 20GB hard drive, one wireless controller, remote control, and a one-month complimentary membership to Xbox Live Gold. The bundle goes on sale down under from this Thursday, March 15. An Xbox 360 with a 20GB hard drive normally retails for A$649.95 in Australia, while a stand-alone copy of Gears of War sells for A$99.95.
Randolph Ramsay loves games in the same way monkeys love bananas. Sure, they can live without it, but what's the point? He also loves fighting games, but never plays online in case people notice just how bad he is at them.
i live in OZ and here the most expensive games are A$120 (and $1000 for PS3) . its quite rediculous as games are half priced in US even with our exchange rate at just under 78US cents per dollar. o well. i own both 360 n gears. n this is definitely a good pack. although M$ would sell many more units if the price was $50 lower

i got this same deal early december last year what the hell? this is NOT new and i got it for $675 plus now i see this same deal for $639 at JB HI FI

Just remember $546 includes tax. So in America you'd pay $460 for a 360 and gears + 10% tax or what ever it is where you live, so it ends up at $506. So the difference isn't as huge as you think.
Dang,that's expensive!Poor Aussie gamers,the games come late and when they do,they sell high(u no,the countries frikkin isolated,shipping costs are really high).
The system is selling for $A599 at the moment and you can get the game at less then $100 so it's not a saving.

i'm moving to australia next month, but i'm only looking for a core system because i'll bring over my hard drive etc, would have been handy to get gears with that. What sort of prices am i looking at for a core system?
Just get the 360 pack with 2 games and 2 controllers (for the same price), that is a bigger saving.
sucks for those in Australia who already bought the 360 without GoW (unless of course, its not their type of game).....but yes, it will move some units off the shelves!
its amazing how ppl can discuss about PS3 and Xbox 360 when the story here is about a bundle that in my point of view is very nice a great game... the GOTY . So microsoft is doing a good job in putting this bundle in the market. About the game price here in Portugal a Game is something llike 75? . A really high price for a game ... the medium wage here is 420? :(

Is that legal? If somebody wants to buy a 360, then they have to buy an M-Rated game against their own will?
bubnux - They're still buying Gears, they're just paying a little less. And if they buy a system with no games, they're just going to buy Gears anyway.
Convenient since the PS3 is launching 8 days later. Would have been smarter to do a price drop. This isn't going to sell many systems, especially when the PS3 has been marketed well over here.
@ Metilco - New releases are £39.99 in the uk. But as you say, its all relative to the exchange rates etc.
Man thats a good package I guess, but I feel sorry for those guys having to pay A$100 for a GAME! I know its a different currency but I think even USD $60 is too much for a game. $50 is where it should stay.
hellfire9988, Killzone is NOT a good game...please do not give credit where it is not deserved. Look at the terribly low scores Killzone received from websites like IGN and Gamespot. Sony shouldn't even be making a sequel to Killzone...it is like the song that makes fun of the Playstation 3 says: "Killzone 1 sucked bee-fore, So what makes you think we want it more." And then the other verse says: "So-neee you went wrong with your PS3, I'll just keep playin my three-six-dee, I hopes this help you unn-der-stand, How you killed your brand." That is an awesome music video!

they have done this bundle before in canada. and for those complaing about lack of hard drive space, whenever you buy a pc it uses a lot of space just for the os and all the other applications that come with it. this 7 gigs is used for all the updates so technically its the same thing. if you really hate it then keep complainging to ms hoping they will hear your request

I am sick of them saying its a 20GB HDD, because we don't get 20GBs of space open to us. 7GIG is reserved right off the bat.
Australia's currency system isn't the same as ours so i wouldn't think that 100 dollars is really any more different than us spending 60 bones here.
