Damn it, Capcom, if Konami found a way to make Metal Gear Solid Peacewalker work, it's perfectly reasonable to think that you can make Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD work too! So bring it over here!
Big in Japan August 22-28: Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD version
PS3 action-RPG topped a quarter million sold in first week as new releases topped the charts; 3DS again led hardware sales by a wide margin.
The Japanese exclusive PSP Remasters series seems to be bearing monetary fruit for Capcom and Sony, if the recent Media Creates sales charts are any indication. The PSP Remastered version of Monster Hunter Portable 3rd for the PlayStation 3 placed first on the charts for the week of August 22-28, with 287,829 units sold.
Imageepoch's Black Rock Shooter: The Game debuted in second place with 105,277 units sold. The game casts players as a robot girl with a big gun called Black Rock Shooter that has to help humankind survive an alien invasion in a future version of Earth. The game is played out as a real-time role-playing game, where players have to shoot down enemies and dodge their attacks while keeping the in-game heat gauge in check. An English version of the title has been announced by NIS America, though a release window hasn't been set.
The PSP title Mobile Suit Gundam: New Gihren's Ambition placed third with 75,611 units sold, while two of Tecmo Koei's meal tickets finished at fourth and fifth. Samurai Warriors 3 Empires sold 70,254 copies while the PSP version of Dynasty Warriors 7 sold 25,308. Former champion Rhythm Heaven for the Wii got bumped down, thanks to the onslaught of new titles; the game sold 25,063 units, good enough for sixth place.
On the hardware front, the 3DS is still doing well as it sold 60,781 units for the week. The PS3 got a slight sales boost with 33,141 units sold, possibly due to the release of Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD version. The PSP sold 31,310 units while the Wii sold 11,342 units for the week.
