BioWare revisiting Mass Effect 3 ending

What anger me is that people who started to play the series just on ME3 get the same ending that those who played the entire series.

Me=4 times, ME2 (imported characters) 6 times, and ME3 (yes same char from ME1) 1 game play!!!!!!!!!!

How could this happen, there was not even replay value added to the game, because you could get the ending with just the first run, and on top of that some one new to the series would get the same ending just playing the part 3.

I hate the lack of impact of the decisions made not even in the same part 3, but in the entire series:

Save or no the Rachni Queen

Kill or no Wrex

Save the Council

Rescue Legion

Success suicide mission

Collector Base

Cure the Genophage

Uploading or no Reaper Code

ETC...

Hell I even punched the reporter 3 times...for nothing!

All i get is "hey thanks for the fish...now keep moving"

Is not what i deserved as loyal follower.

I just wished our choices had more impact on the ending

as in there should have been like 12 endings (with minor to major differences of course)

I mean..... to ended so... suddenly, it was like... big battle (starwars style)fate of galaxy hangs in the balance, and then a kid comes does a matrix 2 dialog flip on our face and the end!!!!!!!

what happened to everyone else!!??? what happened to all the races? did all our team mates survive!! what about the LI!!!..etc

Be it happy or sad, an ending equals closure. Video games should not be like The Sopranos.

ofcource  games must have hapy endings or else why the heck play them if we want bud endings and shit like that we can see it all around us and for free we want have to by it. if we want to bhe sad we dont need to play mass efect 3 we just have to look at the mess the whole world is

I dont see any problem with ME3, it makes sense... whats the problem, why ends have to be happy ending all the time... its and ending like no other, where you rewarded a great end if u put enough time to the game, and where the end options all make sense taking into its storyline

History repeats itself.  Dragon Age 2 was also rushed and they got a lot of negative feedback.  At least this time they only messed up the ending.

And the romance choices sucked so bad! If you romance Thane in 2, your only option of romance again was with the new tech chic...forgot her name. At least that's how it was for me. There were no male options. Im not sure why that is!

Well, in my opinion, ME3 was way too short and a bit rushed. From the beginning, I kept feeling like it was about to end. lol And like some have already said, the choices made in 1 and 2 had little impact on 3. Overall, Im just really disappointed. ME1 and 2 was way better and it made sense.

Artistic integrity?

If you've seen this one then your aware that in that final scene when the gun shots die down and the Tank shows up you feel like dropping to your knees for how shocking it is but that makes it stand out like nothing else but would you really change it? In all Mass Effect has been a great ride, characters who we've met and those that we have lost on the way have made a lasting impression and I've enjoyed every minute (ok maybe not all that scanning but still!). Considering how much time we have all put into all these games in all fairness what ending would we gamers be happy with? A huge sorry in advance if (in a few weeks time), I'm back here trying to remove this post in anger, haha! Take it easy everyone!

Awww man, I've been away for the past 4 months and in that time I've been looking forward to playing Mass Effect 3 and seeing the conclusion of what so far has been a truly great experience. Sorry to sound like a sheep here people but all this 'bad ending talk' is rather worrying, I started playing about 5 days ago, so far it's great, no complaints. I'm just really hoping for some good dramatic scenes, lose ends getting tied up and of course some closure. Maybe I'm being way to ambitious asking for so much, but I don't think changing the end (whatever it may be) would be a good idea, granted I may be chewing those words soon enough. I remember when my dog died in Fable, man I was gutted and did I want Peter M to release DLC where Pooch could live again, of course I did but that would've taken something very memorable from the original game. cont....1

well, the only complain i have that my only choice that affect the ending was the last one. nevertheless, the game is now a top 3 of all-time to me. and yes , a clarification is the only thing this needs, not a rewrite.

I will never be able to say I enjoyed the game completely.It's a Franchise that was great until EA showed up.From the beginning to the middle of it was really great,but the ending just plain stunk.Now they're trying to toss us a bone by saying "We're sorry we screwed you like that so we will give you a few more free bits of content to cover our asses" but that's something,regardless of how much closure they send to us, is unexceptionable.Unless somebody gets EA out of Bioware, I'll never buy another Bioware game because of how unethical they are in the gaming industry & by what so many have said that they had forced Bioware to speed up on putting the game out & not letting them end it well.It sucks because they have put out some good & great games until EA showed up & I don't want to give EA another penny.

How did they rush it, they said they had finished the game a month before the release date, they just stalled it so they could make some on the day DLC.... Gamespot even made an article on it...

@Gravity_Slave: Um, I don't think you understand what "force" means. Protest and complaint is not force. Bioware doesn't have to change a thing if they choose not to. To equate government censorship with the current "protest by cupcake" is simply ridiculous.

@everyone: If you don't like the food at a restaurant, don't eat there anymore. If you don't like an artists painting, choose not to go to that gallery again. Don't like a political candidate, don't vote for them. See, thats called the freedom of choice!Just like it was the Artists choice to paint that painting HIS way! The fact that fans are forcing Bioware to CHANGE (are you getting that word?)..."change" their content from its previous form IS a form of censorship. Censorship doesn't mean a big old mean government or corporation has to be behind it ya genius. Through protest and public relations, they are "Forcing" it.......................................................... ...................................................................... Heres a helpful hint that usually works for simple people. Try writing your next thought down that you want to convey outloud. Read it a couple of times and see if it still looks stupid. @snotface2 I feel you bro. I did the same with COD series. After COD:MW and MW2 ... i stopped feeding them my $$ with all this Milkage and extra DLC ... i mean wtf.. like 8 COD games in 6 years or what? I havent bought ME3 yet NOR i will. I mean DLC content in first day that if you wont buy it you missing a major story content? Im done with this EA policy. They ruin everything and im pity of Bioware that merged/bought by EA. I have finished the game. I am totally upset in many aspects. One I don't appreciate Bioware trying to force me to multiplay so I can get a good ending. Two it is also blantantly obvious the ending was rushed. I can truthfully say EA Has ruined so many games with their mangement and money making tactics. I refuse to but another EA game. PERIOD!!! WHAT A TREMENDOUS LET DOWN. I loved ME Series

A new ending won't help unless they create a bunch of new endings. The problem isn't so much the ending, it's the fact that the choices you make don't mean much. They'd really have to re-do the whole game for this to be what most of us are looking for.

Okay, just finished the game, so now I feel qualified to discuss the ending (no spoilers here). I don't think it necessarily NEEDS revision (certainly not worth "protesting" over), but there are two big problems with it: 1. It's not clear exactly what the hell is going on. This is something that a "content initiative" might help - even a written summary of events, perhaps in the codex, would be very welcome. A story this good deserves a clear wrap-up, especially when the conclusion implies big changes to the entire game universe. I'm not saying every loose end has to be neatly tied, but honestly, I don't even know who lived and who died, or if what I was seeing was partially a dream sequence. 2. The "big choices" at the end feel arbitrary and disconnected from the rest of the game, unlike the "big choices" in the previous Mass Effect games. It kind of reminded me of Deus Ex: HR; though not quite as obnoxious as that game, the finale of ME should not in any way be reminiscent of that atrocity of an ending. This, unfortunately, does not seem like something that can really be repaired, short of a re-write.

@Sunefang Wow man! I agree that DA2 and the Firewalker DLC were crap. But SWTOR and ME3 aren't that bad! SWTOR has done what no other MMO has done, been fully voice acted. And the game is not bad eather, I can't bring myself to pay that much cash for it... but SW and ME3 are different then other games, and in the days of CoD and CoD spin offs hogging the store shelves, I felt like those two titles were a breath of fresh air!

My feelings about the campaign to change ME3's ending are the same as my feelings about PETA: their points are valid enough to make me WANT to support them, but the way they've gone about their business completely turns me off and makes me want to distance myself from them as much as I possibly can.

I have to say, Bioware is pretty much at the top of my s***list now. I really don't care whether they fix up the endings or not, they already shot my interest in Mass Effect to death, a hastily scrabbled together band-aid is unlikely to fix that. They really are on a fail-roll imo, Dragon Age II, ME2 downloadable content (Firewalker!!!!), SWTOR, and now ME3. It is really sad how one of the mightiest developers has either sold out or lost their mojo (or both).

I don't know if they'll actually revisit and change the ending as "game content initiatives" is a bit vague. A bit of content to clear things up makes me think they'll release edited and cut footage?!

I think problems really began after they finished ME2. The decision to make "The Arrival" DLC and have ME3 follow that instead of the main ME2 story was a really bad idea. Look at the ending of ME2, Shepard has just survived the suicide mission and dealt a huge blow to the Reaper's efforts. He has a wealth of new information on the Reapers from the Collector base. He confronts the Illusive Man and tells him that he'll do whatever it takes to stop the Reapers. His team is stronger and more committed to the cause than ever before. Although the current battle is over, you see the team preparing for the next fight against the Reapers as Shepard considers his next move. Everything in that ending says that Shepard and his team are going to do everything in their power to prepare for the Reapers even if they have to do it by themselves. "The Arrival" and ME3 basically ruins all that. Shepard didn't get a chance to prepare for the Reapers like he told the Illusive Man. His team got broken up and separated. They don't even bother to stay in contact to help each other in their fight against the Reapers. And the Collectors? They weren't important at all since the Reapers were already on their way and invaded without help from the Collectors. All the data Shepard gathered from the Collectors meant nothing. No one, except for Cerberus, bothered to go beyond the Omega 4 Relay to investigate. All the support Shepard earned evaporated.

BioWare just doesn't get it anymore. I don't think they are capable of comprehending just how bad a let down the ending to this game was. With how abysmal the fans reacted to Dragon Age 2, and now s***ting the bed with Mass Effect 3, they've officially destroyed the goodwill with the community they'd built up going all the way back to PlaneScape: Torment. You can't fix ignorance.

When I first read this, my natural thought was Florida since I live here. Yes, the Xbox for rigged elections, old people, Cubans and wacko racist types.

Wanted to play ME3. REAAAALLY wanted to. Not gonna even get near that crap until they fix this. I have a solid image of what ME used to be for me. Not gonna let that be ruined.

Can't accept extreme criticize then don't post willingness to listen article everywhere. Conclusion: we have the right to criticize, of course not individual attack. But my comment before that is destructive or constructive in the eyes of Bioware.

@marcopolo426 thats were you are wrong when they promised multiple different endings which were dependant on the choices you made throughout the previous games (see heavy rains multiple endings for example) then you CAN cater to everyone with good endings, bad endings, sad endings, endings that might make you want to slit your wrists, throw up, wtf endings etc etc

Sorry but already lost me as a customer im not buying anymore bioware games (or dlc) as long as casey hudson is the lead writer. That ending they gave us went COMPLETELY against everything that was promised (im really not too bothered about the story by the way, they could have had the rise of the teletubbies at the end in a ridiculous ending like silent hill's ufo ending for all i cared), 16 different endings is what was tweeted not a week before release, we got 5 endings that had VERY little variation between them. And the whole thing that sold the series to me is the blatant false advertising saying the choices you made make an impact on the ending.........between having to choose between 3 ending choices that are only slightly different no matter how you play whether douche or goodie two shoes, who you kill, etc it doesnt matter. So that in a nutshell is why they have lost me as a customer not because they did an artsy fartsy ending they said they wouldn't do, thats their choice but the advertised "features" of gameplay are NOT present. Ive now no need to replay because Ive seen all the endings through just playing mass effect 3 alone no need to re-buy me1 or 2 and all the dlc because it simply doesnt make any impact on what the ending is and I really dont see the dlc changing any of this just explaining the crummy endings a little more (the fact it needs explaining at all should have told them the writing sucked)

My prayers go out to her and everybody that stepped up to get outta their vehicles, call Emergency and get her off of the road. Even if they change the ending I'm still gonna purchase the DLC. I'm a completionist, I can't ignore my gamerscore. Just an idea, but to appease the fans they should put 2-3 MP maps within each DLC along with alternate outfits. More than likely, they'll make it a seperate DLC but it would be nice. New characters too. How come we never got to see Salarians, Quarians or Drell in husk form? Always wonder what they would've looked like.

The_GooBear, cool. Hope you're doing ok. My grandfather saw a young kid get hit and killed by a car just outside his house. He came to terms with it but never forgot it. Well they said they're making a new ending (which we of course have to pay for). Here's to hoping it will be the ending of endings.

@wallydog63 I apologize for using the word idiot. I was being hot-headed, it wasn't a good choice of words. Just seen a pedestrian get hit by a car today at 35mph on the highway, I'm a little shookin' up by it. I was in the turn lane next to where she was hit and as soon as she passed me, our light turn green and BAM! A car came flying through the green light from the highway behind me. I don't REALLY think they're idiots, I just think it's agreeable that some of people can be irrational. Like I said, they could have done a better job to elaborate on your choices because two of them look practically the same (Control/Synthesis). I admit it felt rushed and I'm totally for expansion as long as it's fitting to the story and doesn't render the other two options meaningless. Thessia, Palaven and Sur'Kesh only had one mission (to my recollection) while Rannoch and Tuchanka had 3. Would've like to actually have set foot on Palaven.

Like I said, when you go on the attack and insult people don't be surprised when people fight back. I wasn't the one calling people names or insulting there intelligence. As far as everything that followed after death, that was still in his head. If you notice it ended with him moving in the rubble. I didn't say mine was the answer to end all answers, just that looked like the way it was to me, and you shot it down with insults. I have no problem with you believing what you want to believe, just don't belittle others for different opinions. I hate the games ending for what looks to me to be poorly written material. I don't hate others for there opinions. But I do get defensive when I'm attacked. Always have and always will. It does get me into trouble every once in awhile. I apologize if I have offended you. I can get carried away in the heat of the moment.

@wallydog63 I don't have all of the answers but neither do you. There's a possible solution to any of those concerns. You don't have to jump down people's throats for saying they don't have to be plot errors. So who's the one making a big deal? If the ending was all in Shepard's head then how did he get that point of view to everything else that followed after death? That's just as hole ridden as any of my theories.

Oh my god so much chatter! I actually don't mind a new ending for the rest of us who don't like to read too much into the lines and instead like things spelled out for us. Ok look heres what I do know : After finally playing through the last wave and launching the missiles, my character is seen making a dash for the ray that will teleport him to the citadel, he gets shot at almost dies but somehow stays alive long enough to have a good long chat while I patiently hope that I get to shoot a reaper in the face. But guess what happens, a small kid tells me that I get to choose 3 ways to die while giving a hilarious reason for the reapers commiting mass genocide, which is "We kill you, so that you dont kill the other races as well, but don't worry, we'l be back to kill them too" I mean wtf was that?? Why let any one survive in the first place?? They'r all gonna advance eventually right? They are superior A.I after all right? And really no matter if you are a paragon or renegade, you die anyway and not to mention that lucky bastard Garrus survives on the Normandy when he too was on my squad! Joker just left me there to die roflmao! Though another thing i dont get is wtf was joker doing flying through the mass relays anyway, that explosion with the "red reaper killer ray" was only killing reaper and their thralls right? So why was my crew not on earth celebrating like those grunts? unless....those cowards ran long before I chose suicide option 3!! :O n srsly bioware hope you'r not planning on charging people for the new ending.... -.-

Dang dude, you really are rude. You take everything personal and go on the attack. So don't be suprised when people attack back. You call people idiots when you obviously haven't even done your homework properly. You still haven't explained how a scattered and busy team would make it to a ship in orbit (unless we've crossed with star trek), especially knowing that EDI wouldn't abandon Shepard if there was any possiblility he was alive. Your story about operation sledgehammer was most moving but again irrelevant. Yes I know all about it. My family tends to be WW II nuts. My fathers been to Normandy beach. As far as sacrifice goes. Duh, of course it's important to a story, but again you're placing importance on an issue I haven't said anything against. You really really need to do your research before throwing words around. You really look foolish attacking people for things they don't disagree with. Would I have prefered him or her surviving and making little blue babies. Yeah, I'm a sucker for happy ending (well most of the time). Can I live with him or her dieing. Of course. The only thing I've said is that the endings are sloppy and full of wholes and unless you get the last ending that you can't even get unless you go multiplayer (another lie. Said you wouldn't have to), and see him moving in the rubble, you're just kinda wondering " what the heck happened". Just the facts.

Secondly, the comparison with star trek is simply to explain how you see to think it' logical that the entire crew could magically appear on a ship that would be way too far out of the way to pick them up. If they weren't helping Shepard, they'ld be busy else where and probably not even together. Infreakinpossible to pick them all up. You should also learn to pay attention to what other people actually say and not what you want them to say. Ok lesson number one. first off, he may not be indoctrinated, but his time around the reapers may have weaken his will and ability to fight it, leaving him more subseptable to them allowing them to do things while he's not able to fight. Next. I stated, or had you forgotten, that I had a hard time buying into the indoctrination theory, only that it was better than yours. I also said that this could have all taken place in his mind while dreaming after being struck unconcious. Lastly the fact that the good, hard to get to, ending shows him moving. Something that would have been impossible if he had gone to the Citadel. Only if he was on earth would this be possible, making the whole thing in his mind the only freakin possiblity.
