@ aaronfhff123 I do see where you are coming from. There is no doubting that Treyarch makes a good campaign and sets a great tone for it, but the MW series has a great tone as well. The MW series has great moments of awe, such as All Ghillied Up and One Shot, One Kill, or the final scene in MW2! With both games, my point is that those campaigns only last 2 hours. Once I'm finished with the campaign, I want to go to the online and play for countless hours just screwing around and having fun. There isn't exactly a 'tone' difference in IW and Treyarch's multiplayer, so what I'm looking for is some reckless, retarded fun, and so far, the MW series has done that better. So far, Black Ops has been pretty fun, but not like MW 1 and 2. W@W and Black Ops are simply betas for the MW series in terms of the online, so when MW3 comes out, I'm sure that it will feature everything BO did and more.
Activision confirms third add-on for Treyarch's latest Call of Duty game; four new multiplayer maps and Shangri-La zombie level coming to Microsoft's online platform this month.
As was widely suspected yesterday, Call of Duty: Black Ops will expand this month with an all-new map pack, due out first on Xbox Live.
Titled Annihilation, the new add-on for Treyarch's blockbuster hit will arrive on Xbox Live on June 28. The content will follow the precedent set by past add-ons First Strike and Escalation, in that it will be composed of four fresh multiplayer maps and one zombie level.
The new killing spaces included in the downloadable content are Hangar 18, Silo, Drive-In, and Hazard. Unfortunately, no further information was offered concerning the maps. The zombie level is titled Shangri-La, described by Activision as "an exotic and mysterious map."
Activision did not set a price for the Annihilation DLC in its announcement today, but previous map packs debuted for 1,200 Microsoft points ($15). There was no mention made of when the content will arrive on the PlayStation Network or for the PC.
For more on the Annihilation content, check out its first trailer, embedded below.
@TheColeMichael I grew up playing M rated fps games so MW doesnt do it for me. if a fps is rated M for mature, and it feature gun battles it should include the propper violence to set the tone. For me Mw2 got boring really fast and now all I can play is W@W andf Black ops. The campaigns in Treyarchs games really made me feel like I was in a horrific battle while MW2 games just had me yawn as id blast an enemy close range with a AA-12 shot gun to see them fall over without a mark. Maybe bullet wounds and gore from explosions doesn't add to gameplay for you, but for me it is a MUST, especially after the mw engine got updated with W@W(why did they downgrade wuith mw2?). Adding bulelt wounds and gore will not hurt MW3 but make it better. And how much sence did it make when IW allowed a player to blow one guys arm off in MW but if you shoot anyone else with that rifle it doesnt even leave a mark? games should be about gameplay, not cinematic retardation.
@aaronfhff123 Give me a CoD game completely based in the Zombies timeline for the campaign, with the same Zombies mode on the side just seeing how many rounds you can pass, and the same great multiplayer, possibly including wonder weapons (Wunderwaffe DG-2, Ray Gun, Monkey Bomb, Thundergun, Winter's Howl, Gersch Device, Matryoshka Dolls, Scavenger, V-R11 and 31-79 JGb215.), and I am sold. Oh, and let's not forget the gold camo. I'd pay whatever the cost for that game.
@aaronfhff123 One thing that makes MW's gameplay great is the perfect blend of reality and wtf moments. My point from before is that MW is still a better game in the online aspects without all of the useless gore. The MW fans you heard from are probably retarded. IW knows that a great game doesn't necessarily come from being realistic. That's what reality is for. MW is just plain fun. MW and W@W are both nearly the same when it comes to the campaign. W@W and Black Ops offer Zombies, which is the only reason I play Black Ops anymore. MW2 offered Spec Ops, which was what kept me playing, trying to beat records and have fun with friends. So with that, both IW and Treyarch are great in their own right. What I can't say is that the online for W@W and Black Ops is as phenomenal as MW and MW2. There are no other games I can say I've played for 14 days total. Each. W@W and Black Ops kept me intrigued for maybe 2 or 4. Though Black Ops I believe has the best multiplayer, something about it does not keep me playing as much. It might be getting old, might be the maps, not sure. But the MW series has not disappointed me yet.
@mikees1 W@W was great. I am confused as to all the hate. I even traded in my copy of MW2 for a used copy of W@W because I missed W@W so much. Mw2 was decent game but not as fun as W@W.
@TheColeMichael W@W was just as good as MW with more realisit c violence. both games rely on cinematic cutscenes and both games have ultra short and linear campaigns. At least W@W and Black op are honest about armed conflict, while Infinity Ward likes to have their players believe an Aa12 fully auto shotgun just makes a human fall over without a scratch. I actually heard quite a few MW fans say "Modern Combat doesnt have bullet wounds or ripping flesh, that was back in WW2" when in reality the guns of today still damage human bodies.
@mikees1 CoD:WaW was good for one thing. Zombies. Sure, you could blow off the limbs off of endlessly spawning Nazis and Japs, but that doesn't make the game good. The MW series has been able to give me more thrills and excitement without that. What makes WWII games suck is the fact that we all know how exactly how it ends. Modern Warfare was a great game because it brought the fight to a new territory, the Middle East. It was new and full of surprises. MW2 did something along the same lines. They brought the fight here, to our own backyards. Now MW3 seeks to continue along the same lines. I believe Black Ops is the best so far because it has so much to offer. The campaign takes place in a controversial era, allowing the use of new weapons and technology, though taking place in the past. Zombies was brought back, now revealing a small but intricate story of its own, and the multiplayer is better than ever, allowing for complete customization and exploration of whatever play style you use. I'm sure MW3 will pack a hell of a punch, but I'm not sure it will fully live up to its expectations. Though it's whatever floats your boat. Both Treyarch and Infinity Ward are good in their own right, which is why they both exist. Aside from that, anything that isn't CoD..... well it isn't CoD. There's my rant. Take it for what it is.
it would be nice if they added more weopons everytime they come out with map packs cause it would make it somewhat interesting right?
These maps packs would be great if they weren't so over priced! They certainly are greedy. I'm fine with the maps that came with the game.. now it's just too many. Last CoD game for me moving on to some different (BF3, GoW3)
How is battlefield 3 better? It's better because you saw hands-on video of it? Given how BF:3 isn't coming out till October, and this is a thread about CoD:BO, lets go ahead and talk about only the DLC that is being released for the intended title and stop being a bunch of trolls. Considering I'm out of a job right now and I'm unable to purchase $60 titles that I want, the Black Ops DLC keeps me busy and makes the game more enjoyable. I have a huge collection of games and I'm mostly on Black Ops anyways because I'm playing with friends. This will be $15 well spent.
HOW MANY MORE DLC YOU TREYARCK A_______S MAKE ONE THAT WILL HAVE ALL NEW MAPS AND GIVE US WHAT WE REALLY WANT FROM DLCS WEAPONS!!!
@kmconstable Actually i think you'll find this is neither the xbox nor pc section. The border is orange! The pc border is blue and the xbox border is green. I suggest a trip to the opticians for colour blindness testing! lol
@nyran125 The last Call of Duty you brought was 2009? well then you missed THE visceral World at War, which in my opinion was the best CoD game ever, even out doing MW1 (whose engine it used) by bringing realistic gore explosion damage ect. MW1 was good, but after that its a pale immitation of the first game. Far fetched and hard to follow story, coupled with campers and modders. If thats the sort of game you like then by all means carry on playing but for me it ran out of steam at MW2. which was broken as hell. The idea of bringing CoD out of WWII and into the modern setting was innovative...3 modern warfares later and its no longer innovative (it was old hat at MW2) and in fact its just plain boring! Oh and we do not all have high spec PC's to game on (sorry but using a keyboard is just un-natural anyway, and before i upset any oldskool gamers.....i am also, but in the old days we still had joysticks!) but i have played Arma 1 & 2, liked them both but far too complicated to have fun with. Which brings me on to you knocking Battlefield.....which you have not even played yet so have no right to form an opinion on. I've seen it, there are the same sort of options present as on any of the Arma or Flashpoint games, stuff like rate of fire, different ammunition types, vehicles the list is endless. Dont Knock it until you've tried it!
Well its waste money map packs think of it you could save money for call of duty morden modenwarfare 3 game or best in the series BF3 whats i real shooter this time since pp quit for BF3 i dont blame them.
It's a shame they don't release the zombie maps seperatly from the MP maps because I hate BOs online so It's a big waste of money paying $15 for 1 zombie map but oh well plenty of games to play instead
dude stop crying about black ops map packs being too expensive mw3 and bf3 will charge the same price
Lol, I love checking up on the new CoD DLC just to see all the nerd raging "ZOMG 15 BUCKS!" and "BF3 IS BETTER" comments. and @DAMSOG your avatar almost made me swat my monitor.
Ok is this the Xbox section GS? Keep this Crap out of the PC area. SO tired of Xbox news in the PC area! And to put this another way with the game and 3 map packs Activision will have yoinked 105 bucks out of your pockets for a game that is not supported in a timely manner for the PC.
$15 for 5 maps....that's $3 bucks a map....doesn't sound like much....but if 1 million people buy it that's 3 million bucks for a map...how much do these maps cost to develop?.....last ditch cash grab (LDCG).
i only buy Call OF Duty infinity Ward games. I played Call Of Duty 3 and thought it was so bad and decided never to buy a treyarche Call Of Duty again. Also it meens I get to space out My call of duty gaming. So officially i havent played a call of duty since Modern Warfare 2 from 2009, so im quite happy to get another spout of Modern Warfare in MW3, because unlike many, i dont just buy every call of duty that comes out. The last one i bought was 2009. So for me thats 3 years of not buying a call of duty lol. but i DO love the Quakish twitch shooting gameplay all the same of the Infinity Ward series and will most likely check out MW3. I like the approach of the story too. its always fun to listen to and keeps me engaged till the end. P.s Battlefield series makes me yawn i get my realistic open warfare fix from ARMA 2 thanx, a much better representation of open warfare by a million miles over battlefield. Arma 2 is much more advanced than battlefield that it makes battlefield look inferior in every way in open warfare.
the new maps look pretty cool. before you read any older comments, don't. most of them will say it's too expensive, battlefield 3 is amazing (even though it's not out yet), COD sucks or you'll see random Gamespot members with a cow fetish. like DrkAssasin for example. he enjoys being milked apparently. but then again, it is fun to see a lot of hypocritical nerds cry over a video game lol
Talk about milking the teet till it's purple, the Black Ops cow must be dry by now. Still gonna buy it tho, I can't help myself
Again Zombies looks great but the maps.... I will get this but unlikely I will get anything COD after BF3
you know guys, you don't have to buy it if you don't want to....I will because I like black ops, but I wouldn't buy MW2 dlc as I didn't like the game, it's called having opinions....
If this next zombie map isn't more hype than Call of the Dead i'm done with Black Ops DLC. They just had a DLC a month ago. Trying to milk us dry before the rise of MW3 & Battlefield 3 because they know Black Ops will be no more and they will need money for another game. The next game better be a Zombie game. I'm done with COD milkers. Frostbite 2 engine in Battlefield 3 FTW, and sadly Infinity Ward got dealt with by Activision...Let's see how this wonderful (milking) gaming year goes
Here's an idea that goes beyond simply not buying the map-packs and is aimed primarily at people getting very worked up at this... Ignore them. By them I mean every piece of DLC that Activision releases for their CoD games. Don't even come and get angry and comment on them. There's an old saying that bad publicity is better than no publicity. So don't even rate this as news or worthy of any attention.
TIP: the comments below with thumbs down want the map pack the ones that have thumbs up wants everyone at treyarch to have the sh*t kicked out of them... by chuck norris
All of this DLC should of come with the original game, this is just a scam to rip off hardcore fans, which is the reason why I've lost my loyalty to call of duty.
@ aeklagonisi right im going to make this really simple for you, a ferrari, right are you listening? thats a ferrari yeah, is a better car than a fiat on anyday of the week, including all bank holidays, christmas day, new years eve. and on new years day it will be a better car even after the driver is still p***ed from the night before and wraps it round a traffic light on the way home from a friends house party that got out of hand in the early hours somtime around 4:00am. now that the ridiculous comment about the cars has been cleared up, on to the games, basically COD and BTF are two totally different AAA gaming/shooter styles so really cant be compared on grounds of which 1 will be better, any remotely intelligent person would know this. So both will most probably be receiving top marks anyway.
WILL SOMEONE PLEASE HACK THESE ROBBING SONS OF B****ES. F*** THE PSN GO FOR THE REAL CRIMINALS. these are the c***s that need taking down. we buy the game then have to keep paying for maps that cost them f*** all to make. BASSSSSSTTTTTAAAAARRRRDDDDDDS !!!!!!
Would it be such a bad idea to be able to DL user made maps ?? ... well thinking about it, it would be a terrible idea because then where would we spend all our money.
Honestly... the game is going to show up on that TV series "To Catch a Predator. With Chris Hansen." How CoD treats their fanbase is basically on that level. Hate on EA all you want... cant remember the last time they charged us for a map pack for BC2... on PC anyhow.. cant speak for the failsoles.
I have an idea. How about nobody buys the map pack. Don't even play BO for weeks until they lower the prices. Seriously! $45 bucks for 3 map packs? Just buy a new game with that money.
same as the outher ones for zombies they refuse to update the weapons in the game zombie map after zombie map its always the same weapons maybe one or two new ones thats it and than the map gets real old fast because they refuse to update the weapons ohh dont woory there will be plenty of useless guns on the wall and in the box pistols china lakes cross bow spectra ect ect unless every weapon is new i am done with zombie maps
Yay! Another Zombie Map!!! aww man, I don't have enough points, the last ones were so expensive.... ...maybe if I repair some barriers....nope. Looks like I'll have to stay put til next round.
