Black Ops' 'First Strike' DLC hits XBL Feb. 1

@AnUndEadMonk3y First off, I was level 47 in Halo 3, so I did memorize every spawn of every weapon. Secondly, how can you say Halo is not as balanced? You start with the exact same weapons, on maps with even distances to vehicles, weapons etc, and there are no bonuses for how much you've played. Just because you can't do anything against a team of people with "2 banshees, a tank, a sniper and some SOB w/ a rocket" doesn't mean its not balanced, its your fault for letting the other team get them before you could. Also, big team battle is for noobs anyway, so don't whine about vehicle imbalance.

@steve, I did play MGS4. About halfway through then got tired of all the cutscenes. The online mode is the only reason I kept the game, other than that, the story was kinda boring and over convoluted. I was a big fan of Snake Eater, and felt they went too Hollywood with MGS4. If you dont agree, so be it. But the fact remains, the single play campaign consisted of more cut scenes and movies than actual gameplay. Oblivion was boring, took way too long to find any action. They tried to pack way too much on the discs of the time, and it showed. I did not like the graphics, the scale of the maps made for poor quality and slow movement throughout the game. The only credit I give Oblivion is the engine gave birth to Fallout 3 and New Vegas. I dont know where your gay Army comment is coming from, nor do I understand what kind of insult you are trying to make. Because I like first person shooters, I want to join the military? So if Peter Pan were recruiting fairies, does that mean you would be up his rear because you like Oblivion and Master System? Seriously, you're a douche.

And if your going to cry about graphics Crysis is much much better, and its like 4 or 5 years old.

Also, about the campaign, the include the worst friendly AI ever. I dont know how many times I died playing the campaign because of enemies standing right next to Woods, or Bowman, or Weaver, or any friendly NPC with a gun. I never see either of my squad mates ever get a kill. Its pathetic, I dont know how this game got the reviews it has. This has been the worst COD Title to date, and for numerous reasons that dont include multiplayer.

My main butthurtness comes from the majority of people giving this game credit it does not deserve. Everyone says astonishing visuals, fantastic story, blah blah blah. The graphics are sub par to MW2, and are basically the same as WaW. I always thought you are supposed to improve on games as you go. All they did was take WaW, add in some face paints, change the look of the guns, and add in custom emblems. The sounds of the game are crap, all the guns sounds horribly fake. Even compared to WaW the sounds of the guns and explosions are horrendous. The story is completely boring. Everyone was blown away by the very short mission with a helicopter that even on Veterans was way too easy. They give you this boring, over convoluted story, that actually makes no real sense, and basically force you to endure it. The missions are not hard, that offer no real resistance, and the fact that you play a SOG vet that has been brainwashed by Castro and some Russian guy kill the president, but then some other Russian guy adds some details in your brainwashing to kill a few other scientists, but then that Russian guy was a figment of your imagination the whole time after the second or Third mission, and end up that you were him in a weird Me Myself and Irene manner. Its completely stupid, and not cool. They ripped off countless number of movies, included a horrible voice cast, who the hell thinks Ice Cube is cool anymore? He does more kid movies than anything now.

The port was purposely downgraded to give the 360 better reviews. I agree most games are developed on a specific system, made to run optimally, then they work on the ports. As was the case with MW1, WaW, and MW2, but just because they did an even port, MW1, and WaW looked the same on both consoles. MW2 on the otherhand, performed greater on the PS3 because of its superior hardware. That was done by chance, not purposely. Because of that, 360 sales started to drop, and there has been an increase in those not renewing the subscriptions. So, Microsoft being the greedy rich bastards they are, they basically copyrighted the 360 version so it could no be an equal port. They had to downgrade the graphics, change certain codes, yada yada yada. Microsoft paid for the bad port on the PS3, look it up. Dont take my word for it, research it. They did this to make people want the 360 for Black Ops. Thats why they pay for the rights to release map packs first, its even rumored that PS3 wont even get the map packs because of Microsoft. I dont know about the validity of that, just seen it mentioned in quite a few forums. Im not being a fan boy, Im just trying to get all gamers, 360ers and PS3ers alike, to join forces against these butthole corporations. We are not going to see any genuine new games if we do not make our voices heard. They will keep shoveling out the same games with new visuals if we dont step up.

FireFox1988 ... ps3 was screwed over with a poor port of black ops? i do not think that is the case, tradition is to optimise for the leading console AND THEN port over to other platforms. as was the case with the ps2 (lead platform) and xbox (superior yet less units sold , hence ps2 level graphics etc)

Which in turn, further degraded the experience of MW2 online game play. Now we are at Black Ops, you claim astonishing visuals, where? Great story, where as well? Black Ops has been a franchise failure in the same respect as Tony Hawk 3,4,5, etc. You supporting Activision shows your stance in the gaming industry, you do whats cool. No one cares about the game they are playing, they only care if their friends play it as well. And since 100k people have a mediocre experience with the game, the millions of others with problems must be stupid, or its cause by something other than the game.

@AnUndEadMonk3y, giving Activision credit they dont deserve is the very problem with the gaming industry. Look at Activisions portfolio, please name one quality franchise that Activision has put out besides COD. Tony Hawk was a complete failure after the first 2, but they kept shoveling out new versions with worse gameplay and features. The same with Guitar Hero, the first few were ok, but now they just release a new game for 65$ that is the exact same thing with a new theme. What about all the games from the 80s and 90s? None, unless you count PitFall. Now on to COD, what have they done? The first 3 were mediocre FPS that didnt light up anyones radar, Medal of Honor was the big dog then, along with Halo. Then comes COD4, the first online multiplayer FPS for the consoles. Big hit, great gameplay, only had problems once people figured out how to hack. Otherwise, was a grade A formula. Then comes WaW, gameplay was shotty, knifing looked horrible, boring story that had been 100s of times, everyone already knows how WWII ended. Zombies was the only good thing that came from WaW. Then comes MW2, great visuals, great campaign mode tied perfectly with MW1, but then plagued with horrible online issues once people started hacking due to less than adequate skills and needing an extra advantage, which in turn ruined the entire experience of MW2.

@steve4123456789, you really are disillusioned. Crazy Taxi, Metal Gear Solid 4, and Oblivion are not very good games. Crazy Taxi is a horrible arcade game, no real physics, no real graphics, and can be easily played through a flash engine on a web browser. Metal Gear Solid 4 was nothing but a really long movie, something like a total of 18hrs game play, which 12-14hrs of that 18 are cut-scenes and movies. Oblivion was a horribly rendered RPG, and the only use it had was the basis for Fallout 3. Of all the games you mentioned, only 2 hold any kind of credibility, and thats Sonic and Halo. And to try and brag about being an old gamer just shows how stupid and pathetic you are, what is so great about owning an NES or SNES? All that proves is that you are atleast 30 years or older. Sure, its okay to be a gamer in your 30s, I know a few. But they are not excitingly proud that they had an NES or try to act as if they are better than younger kids who never played those systems. You sir, are a douche.

Otherwise, we are just empowering the developers to do what they want. Because they know the vast majority of gamers are stupid, lazy and insecure. They dont want to voice their opinion professionally, 75% of gamers would rather talk crap through use of forums and internet chat. They know the majority of you will complain and cry all day long while keeping that game in your system, racking up ratings for them day after day. They know the majority of you will just bend over, and take it deep without lube, then ask for more. They know the majority of you are losers and only associate with others through game chat. They know the majority of you will fork over 15$ for garbage as long as its associated with a specific title. They know the majority of you will just sit there, quietly, doing what your told for the rest of your life. They know the majority of you are ill informed, unintelligent, unmotivated, and just plain zombies to the system of Capitalism. They know you feel powerless by the massive Corporation known as Activision, who is mainly employed by those who dont even play video games. These are the reasons video games are getting worse, and nothing ground breaking has come out in the past 10 years. The last break though in gaming, was Grant Theft Auto 3 on PS2 and Halo on XBOX. Everything else has just been variations of these 2 games. Why, because the majority of you are stupid.

We cannot let these companies continue to make a profit off of garbage. Everyone can agree, that Black Ops has been the worse performing Call of Duty title to date. Sure its fun at times, when you can play, sure its got plenty of customized features, but all of that means nothing with horrible gameplay, lag issues, spawn deaths and traps, problems that have been associated with COD since its debut in the multiplayer with COD4. All of these problems have been neglected, and they still use outdated software. They have not changed anything besides the visuals in every COD Title. Everything else is the same, and they actually down graded the graphics for Black Ops from MW2. So, in order for us gamers to get what we want, we have to put Black Ops on the shelf.

As gamers, whether you had the NES or not, rather redundant but one poster feels otherwise, we all are in the same boat. Being ripped off by developers who care more about publicity than quality and integrity of their products. They would rather spend 2 million dollars to get a spot on MTV than use that 2 million in testing and development, which would have made for a higher quality game at launch. We all need to stand up, use the forums to voice our complaints to the developers. If you want free maps, or affordable maps, we have to take Black Ops out of our PS3s, show them we mean business. They screwed over the port for the PS3 to give the XBox an edge, now they are releasing the map packs first on XBOX, and are going to charge us for maps we already have on our systems. The only way these companies like Activision, EA, and Microsoft are going to get the point, is if we stick to our goals. We cant let these companies rape us anymore.They are just going to shovel out this map pack, and its going to be plagued with issues of all kinds, and it will take them months to fix it, if they even do. Like MW2 with the rock glitch of the last map pack, not sure if its been fixed or not, but it wasnt as of November 15th.

Now, on to my comment. 15$ is expensive for map packs, like many of you have said, millions will pay for it, the b*tch about it. I on the other hand, feel 15$ on a Black Ops map pack is mediocre. Definitely better than MW2 charging 15$ for 3 new maps and 2 old ones twice. Thats extortion, plain and simple. Also, to those who are willingly going to pay for the Zombie maps. That is extreme extortion and thievery. Millions of us still have the Zombie maps from WaW, and they are going to charge us again for the same maps with no improvements whatsoever, save for the horrible selection of guns, if they change them at all. I dont know anyone with the Prestige or Hardened edition so I cant say for sure what guns are available. The fact is, we all need to stand up and make our voices heard.

Haven't explored the original maps yet so there's no hurry. I will buy it when I want to anyway. I just started Uncharted (the first one) and I have plenty to do so no big deal. You don't even need to release this at all for PS3, that's fine by me.

The reason you don't get higher on Halo is that if you don't memorize when the weapon spawns are and were they are and the other team gets them they you are f*cked. And vehicles if the other team is able to gain control of both tanks its just stuipid. The great thing about Cod is that because EVERYTHING is at least a little OP'd (aka realistic) even people at level 1 can do as well as people at level 50 if they just play smart. It doesnt matter how smart you play halo of you have 2 banshees, a tank, a sniper and some SOB w/ a rocket all trying to kill you and all you got is an assault rifle. So I would say Cod is much more balanced then halo could ever be.

@Sirbobislost Think of how easy it is to be a good CoD player. I come in first almost every game. I played Halo 2 and Halo 3 way more than I play CoD, and I never consistently came in first place. It takes way, way more skill. Everything is balanced, there are no unlocks, no killstreaks, no perks. Everyone is on equal footing at the start of the game. It's much harder to be good at. I'm not saying its a better game, I like both of them. I just think Halo is much harder to be dominant in. I'm not being a hater, I didn't say anything negative about CoD.

@JayQproductions Lol. Halo takes far more skill. You can get to a point in CoD where you get 40+ kills a game with like 10 deaths fairly easily. In Halo it takes more practice, more time, and more skill to be first place each and every game. Because in CoD people die in 3-5 bullets and in Halo people actually have a chance to kill you if you flank them. Not only this, but high level Halo depends far more on strategy than CoD does. *facepalm*

And how long would it be until they started charging you per liter instead of per gallon? Its really that simple people, the more we pay now, the more we pay in the future. Do I want the the DLC = Yes Is it worth $15 = No Will I purchase the DLC = Probably. Thats my choice and my thought process. It is possible to realise the DLC is overpriced but still be willing to pay that price.

I'm just going to wait till this comes out and mayybbee.. im interested in the zombie map but nobody really knows what these maps are going to be like. AT LEAST remake a map like codmw2 did"LEAST" actually show pictures.

They would be a outcaust if they didn't lol, or buy the maps. But the winner at the end of the day is in your hands you, or Activision if you choose to be part of it my lesson was learned after MW2.
