Oh come on please people... DLCs are optional... I know this is Rock Band... but sometimes we get tired of just playing pure rock so putting Raggae or any genre is not bad at all... especially player who likes to sing get tired of singing rock all the time... it's just really comes down to personal preference... if you don't like the song or genre then don't download it, just find something you'll like... :)
VH1 ads reportedly promoting release of most of greatest hits compilation Legend for Harmonix's rhythm game.
Source: A thread on the official Rock Band forums.
What we heard: In mid-August, reports surfaced that reggae icon Bob Marley would make his Rock Band series debut in Rock Band 3. Now, according to a thread in the Rock Band forums, the Rastafarian singer may appear in the series earlier than the game's October 26 launch.
The thread cites multiple sightings of television ads on VH1 Classic, a cable channel owned by MTV Games parent Viacom, promoting the digital release of most of the tracks on Marley's greatest hits collection, Legend: The Best of Bob Marley and the Wailers via the Rock Band Store on September 21. A tracklist (see below) also accompanied the ad.
- Is This Love?
- No Woman, No Cry
- Could You Be Loved
- Three Little Birds
- Buffalo Soldier
- Get Up, Stand Up (also on disc for RB3)
- Stir It Up
- One Love/People Get Ready
- I Shot the Sheriff
- Waiting in Vain
- Redemption Song
- Satisfy My Soul
The official story: MTV reps had not responded to requests for comment as of press time. However, a member of the Harmonix team posted the following about the announcement.
"As of right now this DLC release is TOTALLY UNCONFIRMED. I mean, it'd be awesome if we could release all of this landmark album from a hugely influential artist, but we HAVEN'T ANNOUNCED ANYTHING YET. As usual, it's not 100% CONFIRMED until we post the DLC announcement at 10am on Friday morning… or until our parent company starts running commercial promos for it." (Emphasis in the original.)
Bogus or not bogus?: With that tacit admission on the end, this is looking not bogus.
Ha, funny they just HAPPEN to leave off 'Easy Skanking' off that Legends album playlist.....but still it's hot to see the honorable Robert Nesta Marley get his props in on the music game front too. I'm not much of music game genre player but if I was I'd pick this thing up in a hot minute. I've always had a bit more respect for RB than GH anyway as they are less inclined to take the pimpin' out method of artists' work.
@otanikun i didnt say i consider everything with a guitar a rockband, i said anything with a guitar, and drums, fits in guitar hero or rockband. So even if bob maely may not be rock, he still rocks it and fills in all the instruments with his Wailers.
@Gelugon_batt I didn't exactly look for a history lesson but thank you, point proven. But we have differing views on what is or isn't rock, rock to me is loud, ear shattering, get the f**k out of my way music, sticking it to the man, not Reggae, despite it's "rock" connection.
@riairases hey I have nothing against bob marley, great man in his day, but I just call it like I see it, he isn't rock, period, the name of the game is "Rock Band" not "Reggae Band"
@gbrading You can already download the Hendrix album Bold as Love, and the song Valleys of Neptune. Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin has all the master records, but refuses to let anyone use them for any reason. It sucks... but what can ya do...
yeah man fineally a reggae band i was waiting for this for so long im getting this one even if i like guitar hero i was preparing to buy rock band or guitar hero until now i have nothing but this one for me is a must have because i listen to reggae everyday
I wish they put more of his other songs like Concrete Jungle, The Heathen, Johnny Was, and Rebel Music. Respect Gong!
Lady Gaga is popular and the girls love to sing the songs. It was good marketing on Harmonix' part lol. I didn't buy them but hell, I know they are good songs. Just not entertaining for me being a metal head :P GIVE US MORE METALLICA
Why does it matter if it's Rock or not, you all should know better RockBand is no longer a rock music game, it's just a music game now.
If Bob Marley and the Whalers can have there own add-on, how long will we have to wait for Hendrix and Led Zeppelin?
@amsscorpio so you're saying that something that has nothing to do with the rock genre, say middle eastern temple music has a single guitar in it for whatever reason, counts as rock? Just saying.
@otanikun anything that has guitar in it, fits in rockband and.or guitar hero. The ones im like WTF about are the lady gaga songs....
I would want songs by kizz more than bob marley that's for sure. kinda defeats the purpose of calling it ROCK band
@vengefulwilberg I think variety is what makes music great. Rock Band just exploits that music, and the fans of it, for profit. And any Bob Marley fan should check out the CD Soul Rebels, it's one of the best, and none of the songs on it are on Legend.
Variety is what makes Rock Band a great game. I can't wait. Rock Band has the most to offer. The library is sick enough already. Great move.
Though I like reggae, I wonder if this will be a turn into slow songs (not all of em but some are (and u know some are)). I'd like to see Damian Marley's game someday, but it be unlikely.
I guess they are putting in other genres so the game will attract other people, either way....this is great news.
I don't see how everyone likes Marley this much. Every song that I have heard wasn't that good or sounded like all the other reggae out there. Reggae, where you like it or not, is more of a background music to a tiki bar or a movie set on a beach, but not something I personally would put on my phone and listen to. As for me, maybe one of these songs is decent, but I probably won't be buying this.
WOW!!! If this comes out soon it is a definite purchase for me. The song list is some of his best work.
