Borderlands DLC has not been the most solid in the reviews and the game I've played is good but not one of my favorites.
Gearbox Software's first-person shooter hits new sales milestone, Take-Two says it is one of its most important long-term franchises.
Borderlands 2 has now shipped more than 6 million copies since launch in September, parent publisher Take-Two Interactive announced today. During a postearnings financial call today, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick revealed the new sales milestone, up from 5 million at the end of October.
Zelnick added that the Borderlands franchise is one of Take-Two's most important long-term properties, suggesting the company may be planning a series release for future platforms.
Borderlands 2 was a key contributor to Take-Two's bottom line this quarter, helping the company post a profit of $78.8 million for the three-month period ended December 31, up 148 percent over last year. In addition, the game's digital expansions helped Take-Two digital revenue rise 244 percent year-over-year.
Huge profits, huh? $60 game with $30-40 Season Pass/DLC. The end of the $60 game is near, welcome to the $90-100 game!!
I'm playing this game right now, and I have to say I am disappointed in it. I can't even put my finger on it, but it doesn't feel right to me somehow. I enjoyed the first one much more.
Good for Gearbox, they deserve it. Also the only company that makes DLC that is actually worth every penny. I guess that's to be expected from a company that started out making the legendary Half-Life expansions.
Looking forward to Colonial Marines.
It's an okay game , but can be kinda dull if your playing single player. I can only play this game in short bursts before i get bored.
Well it is not meant to be played single player, and I'm quite sure the developers would agree, this game isn't good single player.
Buying this game and playing it single player is like going to a strip club- just to get drinks.
yh i see what you mean, but i will go back to it soon when it gets cheaper. But its a great game, with good mechanics
@Vambran True but it gets more fun when you play co-op. The enemies get stronger and asks more challenge thus giving better loot.
Bleh... Disgusting... Wish i can refund mine on the PC... Got Sick and Vomited non-stop when i played this game... I Wish i could continue playing... But the Color effects And Graphics for some reason made me sick...
Odd... ... I'm Probably the only guy in the world hating this game... That's what i feel... feel sad that this is the only few games i actually get sick to...
And i want to complain about the guns... there are only like 30~50 weapons... not Gazillion... There is NO difference between a Pink Rifle and a Orange one upset for some stats change... God damit... And counted that as a different gun even if it has a same model
That's great, but the second didn't have as big an impact on me as the first did. They need to mix things up a bit. Love to see armor powers and collectable loot aside from just shields.
You guys are going to love please like and subscribe
Cool playing the first one at the minute, can anyone confirm if the ADS is a bit useless for low - mid range combat compared to say , and I hate to use this as an example but CoD, feels closer to Killzone 3 viability in terms of when it feels most useful because of the stiffness, tldr Long range = more use for ADS ?
@megaspiderweb09 Well that's something to see isn't it? It's literally all the article is saying, and I'd count that as news.
Wow, looks like the make the game and keep parts out to sell as DLC every other month biz model does work. Congrats to them, with luck maybe everyone else will do this too.
@Triton Yeah the main story and all the sidequests take at least 16 hours first time through...Not to mention it is very well written and that you can play through the game again on a much more difficult level.
@Triton I played the game with no DLC at all - it was pretty fun.
well they're making sure to milk it with the amount of dlc and they're not afraid to charge ridiculous prices either. Another dev that's main aim is $$$
@johnners2981 Do you expect them to spend millions of dollars making a game without wanting to make money in return. If they didn't aim for "$$$" then we wouldn't have the games in the first place.
@johnners2981 @strawberry9 @RJnumba1 @zerooo0 @capper64 It's not their fault that people are willing to pay that much. If I made a product (a game, or pretty much anything else) then I'd charge as much as I could get away with. They're a company, they exist purely to make money. If you're unhappy, don't buy the product, that's the only way to have an affect on this.
@johnners2981 Every business is in it for the $$$$
@johnners2981 It's their job, and people need to be paid while still receiving at least some profit, and it's not like anyone is forced to buy it
@johnners2981 But the DLC for BL2 is actually pretty good.... It's good content. Sure not as good as BL1 DLC, but still very good.
I grabbed Borderlands 2 just recently and I've been playing on and off ever since. I wish i would have grabbed it day one.....
Well-deserved. I've put more time into BL2 than nearly any game in the last ~12 months (previous would have been Skyrim). I'm looking forward to the final DLC in June (or whenever it's ready).
Good game. It built on the first one very well, however I do hope they can add a bit more depth because 2 felt ALOT like one to the point that I started getting tired of it alot quicker than with the first one.
What I would like to see is an actual weapon crafting system so you can find parts, break up guns and then construct your own crazy versions with elemental effects etc. I would also like to see actual gear for our toons. The skins were a great addition but being able to have actual stated gear to find would be even more awesome. It would be the Diablo of shooters!!
I hope they do treat it like an important franchise and build on it big time for the 3rd installment.
@WingChopMasta I kind of like having the skins as superficial -- it added a HUGE amount of comedy to my multiplayer group gaming... It's this intangible little bit of excellence, like an achievement: You're completely compelled to break your fingers trying to unlock one more skin, but being compelled by statistics would take away some of the raw fun/hilarity.
The whole thing is great comedy, really: A bunch of guys ultimately obsessing over playing dress-up.
@WingChopMasta I want all that in Borderlands 3. :)
