Epic Games and People Can Fly's EA Partners-published first-person shooter detailed for Microsoft's and Sony's platforms, due Q1 2011.
Epic Games design director Cliff Bleszinski had his thunder stolen twice in advance of an appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon tonight. Following a last-minute rescheduling of the TV appearance, an Xbox Live advertisement preemptively announced Gears of War 3 early Friday morning. Later that day, Game Informer magazine's cover pegged Bleszinski's second teased game announcement, the People Can Fly-developed Bulletstorm.
Cover thus blown, EA announced today that it would publish Bulletstorm for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC in 2011. In laying out its release schedule for the 2011 fiscal year in February, EA had said that it planned to release its then unnamed "shooter from Epic" between January and March 2011.
Having established itself with the Painkiller franchise, People Can Fly adapted Epic Games' Gears of War for the PC. Epic subsequently purchased a majority stake in the Polish studio in 2007 and then teamed with EA Partners to distribute the studio's newest intellectual property announced today.
In Bulletstorm, gamers take up with Grayson Hunt and Ishi Sato, two mercenaries who have been exiled by the organization they once served after learning that its leaders were corrupt. The two are then packed off to a remote world populated by "hordes of mutants and flesh-eating gangs," where they must survive, escape, and take revenge on their former employer.
Players will assume the role of Hunt, who is proficient with oversized weapons and melee fighting. One primary feature of the game will be Hunt's ability to perform "skillshots," which provide a system of rewards for "inciting mayhem in the most creative way possible." By successfully performing skillshots, players will gain points and unlock more ways to dispatch of their enemies.
Graphics all the way dude those days only graphics sale look at Final Fantasy...no one want good gameplay anymore...I remember UT1 to 2004 oh now that was good..seriously i still have more fun with duke nukem and serious sam then ALOTS of the new nice looking game,Even Mario Kart 64 is better then half of the new game in terms of gameplay and fun
@DFen Why are people so damn obsessed with graphics? Killzone 2 is a fine shooter to look at but it's gameplay cannot compare to bad company, gears, call of duty or even halo.
Ive yet to see a shooter that would just blow me away, the only shooter I could say that came close was killzone 2 the graphics and gameplay is just all out amazing as for the others like bbc, cod etc the gameplay is good but the graphics is not up to part and game itself is not really original the only shooter Im interested in right now is brink although its not really orignal either
wish people would make some real new games.instead of the same type of games with a new name. at least -make something that hasnt been done this gen
@ Marky360 yeah many people do like that, but i just prefer seeing it through the eyes of the character(especially when sniping/aiming down sights), and in my opinion it makes you feel more involved, rather than just looking at a character, you are the character. (but thats just my opinion, many will prefer 3rd person)
@iRaInOnPaRaDeS man I can't wait til my issue of gameinformer gets here it seems like it takes forever
@GamerLegend10 I like thord person better just because I like actually being able to see the character as opposed to just his hands feet and gun.
That name reminded me of bulletproof, the would be invincible that never was. Sorry for being irrelevant, just had to mention it.
interesting. If the words "splitscreen co-op" anywhere in any further info on this franchise, then I'm going to have to bring this into focus in my interest
The story sounds like something from the Amiga days. Mutants, flesh-eating gangs, mercenaries... I love it! ... I miss the Amiga (sniffle)
Oh, and multiplatform? Awesome! Nobody is left out. There's no good reason for 3rd party exclusives this generation, and we're better for it. It would be even better if we had cross-platform multiplayer, but I suppose that'll be console/PC at best...
Given I like Epic's games, I'm looking forward to this (don't know much about PCF, sadly). And it sounds like they're going to be trying to do the same thing Bizarre Creations did with The Club (great idea, could've been better execution), so here's hoping they improve on that premise.
kinda reminds me of painkiller and doom(cuz tha cover of tha gameinformer looks like its related to doom). looks promising
The first two Painkiller games developed by this core People Can Fly team rocked. Pick up Painkiller Black on PC (very inexpensive) for a couple of damn good, often insanely intense monster shooters. Diminished a bit by iffy voice acting and cutscenes (thanks to a budget publisher farming that out to a crap 3rd party), it doesn't get in the way of PCF's sweet old school/new school shooter design with 300-foot tall bosses and herds of cracked-out, boob-bouncing, needle-wielding nurses. Or the excellent rainstorm night level inside a cursed orphanage. Great stuff. This team will produce wonders within Epic/EA budget.
@Marky360: Its gonna be 1st Person. Just got the GameInformer mag on this today. Wow! I wasn't really interested into buying any shooters this year other than Halo Reach, but the article I read up on this game kept tugging at my interest. Count me in.
so is cliffy B still going on the late night show tonight? if so maybe we get videos for these games
Damn...im tired of hearing the usual "hes corrupt he betrayed me il take revenge" kinda games....sheesshh....cmon better stories sum1...
Game will be in first person. From what I've seen personally, it has qualities of Borderlands. No co-op what so ever. Online Multiplayer is a guarantee. I just want a good storyline.
I don't like the idea that it's multiplat..odds are they will make it off of the PS3 and port it over. If that's the case I will not support this game. Too bad that it's not exclusive to show whatever consoles major strengths.
This will probably be an over the top style shooting game with outrageous gunplay and stylized finishers. wonder if it's in 3rd person or first person. I'm hoping it's third
Bulletstorm sounds like Gears of War with rpg elements. This is probably their way of selling a Gears clone on the PS3. I could be wrong though.
well the story at the moment doesnt pack much of a punch. I guess only time will tell if this game will rock or cock
Wowzers! The creators of UNREAL teaming up with the creators of PAINKILLER. Truly tis baby bottle milky goodness flowing with the creativity of the gaming Gods! It will be a wonderful wait watching as Bulletstorm forms into being..into reality..into THE WONDERFUL.
I bet Cliff B. must be embarrassed due to the fact his two "major" surprises have finally been leaked. :P
"yeah so we are deciding to make another game where you shoot and blow up stuff in a cool way" "but hasn't that been done countless times before?" "yeah, but we are doing it differently, when you shoot and blow stuff up in OUR game there is some minor irritating extra element that makes it barely different to other shooty blowy uppy games" ".....this is the last time I interview anyone introducing a "new" shooter game"
