Megaman is the only game series by Capcom that I play and it's one of my favorite game series ever! Please make a new Megaman X or Zero or ZX! At least make another remake like Maverick Hunter X (would still prefer a new entry though)!
Despite cancellation of Mega Man Legends 3, publisher reiterates passion for fan-favorite franchises, promises "top men" working on the Blue Bomber's future.
By accepting fan input during development of Mega Man Legends 3 only to unceremoniously cancel the project, Capcom left many of the Blue Bomber's biggest boosters feeling slighted. The cancellation of Mega Man Universe, omission of the character from Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and lack of an announced, in-development Mega Man game didn't help matters.
In a recent interview with Game Informer, Capcom senior vice president of strategic planning and business development Christian Svensson, talked about how the publisher is handling its image with the fan base and discussed plans to regain trust within the community.
"It's going to take time to rebuild those bridges," Svensson said. "Product cycles are long and it'll be a little while until fans can see the light at the end of the tunnel. And the last thing I want to do is prematurely announce something in the name of sating the fans that gets cancelled or redirected later, thereby creating an even larger wound. I can only ask for people's patience."
Speaking directly to the future of Mega Man, Svensson said, "Mega Man is a key brand for Capcom and will remain so. I don't have any products we've announced publicly that I can point to and say, 'See, I told you,' but there are 'top men'… within Capcom thinking about the future of the brand and where it's going. We will have official announcements in due course."
As for the approach to fostering the community in positive ways again, Capcom has plans to extend its "Fight Club" initiative from fighting games to "Fright Clubs" for games like Resident Evil and Dead Rising. A relaunch of its community site is also on the way.
While there are no new Mega Man titles on the release slate, it's clear that the action hero is still receiving a modicum of attention as Andriasang has wrangled screenshots of the forthcoming Mega Man X for the iOS that is set to hit Japan next month.
Makes me think of the line from Raiders of the Lost ark. "Whos working on it ?" "TOP--MEN." **Shows Mega Man crate being dragged through a huge warehouse full of other crates**
Dear Capcom, I'll forgive you if you make Mega man Legends 3, Mega man X9 which bridges the gap between the X and Zero series, make a new Dino Crises that finally lets me know what happens after DC2, and please stop recycling unless it's an Ultimate Megaman Collection.
I really want a Darkstalkers game Capcom. Did Capcom abandone the series to take focus on other things?
@RE4GreatesGame Man this has been a long conversation! :P Anyway, that's exactly what I'm waiting for. For them to take some time, develop a MegaMan game, release it,and for me to play it.As to supporting Capcom,I'll leave that to fans of the dev's other games, but I'm not going to buy games I don't like to give them money to fund a new MegaMan game, especially when there is nothing solid about a new one yet. No I'll just wait.Capcom won't go broke, and someday someone there will make up for what frankly amounted up to an insult when they suddenly canned Legends 3.It may take years, but I believe MegMan is worth it. All I need is for Capcom to show that they believe the same.
@RE4GreatesGame The state of platformers isn't so bad that no one can invest in them. The list I provided were all successful,Mario or not. But Legends 3 isn't a platformer. It's an Adventure/RPG. And it has a huge and now very burned fanbase. As I said, the one and only thing I care about from Capcom is MegaMan,and they simply haven't done him justice. MegaMan is definitely popular enough that they could make lots of money from him if they'd just give him a game. And also as I said, when they do,I will forgive them. But I don't like RE,Street Fighter,or any of that other stuff they have so I have no reason to be pleased by their games until they bring MegaMan back. I trust that they will, but after having the guts to cancel a very ambitious MegaMan game with no warning, who's to say they won't do it again? That's why I'll believe this deal about commiting to MegaMan once it actually happens. A MegaMan game has to make it all the way into my game console for me to believe they meant it. So,Capcom, bring MegaMan back, and I'll take you back. Otherwise,I simply have no desire to play your games. The only ones you made that I like are MegaMan.Please do him right.
@RE4GreatesGame Well you're obviously a Capcom kind of guy,and if your into the RE(As evidenced by your name) and Street Fighter, then bully for you.So I don't intend to offend, but just to be honest. Of course the FPS has been the biggest money maker because,to be frank,it's a pretty mindless demographic. Most shooter fans will buy one just because it's the next big place where you can have a deathmatch with tons of people. But Platformers, especially 2D and retro ones made quite a comeback this gen. Mario Galaxy Mario Galaxy 2 Kirby's Epic Yarn Kirby's Return to Dreamland. Donkey Kong Country Returns MegaMan 9 and 10 Rayman Origins Mario 3D Land. And a very large host of downloadable titles on XBLA,and PSN like Limbo. The genre isn't dead by any means, and if a nice modern 2D Megaman came out,it'd sell.Megaman is beloved. And Legends isn't even a platformer. It has platforming elements,as most games do,but it's an adventure RPG,and the Japanese LOVE their RPGs. There's no way that there aren't enough fans of Legends for it to be released. But it's dead now. Plus, there's no need to release an Ultimate version of every game they make.If they could set aside just one version of some fighting game and use that time to make MegaMan first,I doubt they'd see a lot of pain. So with MegaMan being the only Capcom franchise I'm really a big fan of,they're dead to me until a quality MegaMan game comes to ease my pain. When that happens,I'll take them back happily. As you said, patience.
the people who think Capcom will actually be putting this game back into development are very easily lead people, capcom lied to us, they canceled MML3 and will never even discuss it anymore, ok ?, it's gone forever. but we will have many decades of MvsC ,MvsCvsDC, MvsCvsSvsNvsM, MvsCvsCvsSvsMvsPvsCvsRvsTvsY and our all time favorite, Super Side scrolling action in 2d under different names !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Capcom. You will have my continued support for Megaman as he has been one of my favourite original video game characters since Megaman 1. Looking forward to the future :)
What ever the future Mega Man they eventually develop, I look forward to purchasing it. though I had been looking forward to MML3 on the 3DS, it was one of three top games I had planned to get.
MML3 was a huge selling point for me getting a 3ds cuz i loved the first 2 so much, i still love my 3ds but geeze MML3 would've been so awesome to have :/
@RE4GreatesGame Yeah,I know game development isn't an easy thing(I've tried my hand at modding, and it's a lot of work!),and I'm certainly not the type to get angry when a developer delays a game,or doesn't release a new part of the franchise every year. However,I'm just simply not a fan of RE or Street Fighter,or any other zombie killing game(save for PvZ) or fighting game for that matter. And Capcom is in a terrible habit of releasing one of the two, then releasing the "Ultimate" or "Arcade" version of it a few months later to milk it dry.I just don't like that. I'm more concerned for Megaman than Capcom as a whole. He's like their Mario. Why are they so cruel to him?Canceling two of his games so close together? After having his devoted fans work hard on building Legends 3? And without warning? OUCH! They didn't need to reinvent Megaman. They had a good thing going with Legends 3.The Legends formula hasn't been worn through yet, there have only been 3 games in the series, and it's been something like 10 years since the last one.I wish they would have just released that, then reinvent him. As I said,I'll give them time.Once I see a proper Megaman game sitting on the shelf, and I buy, play, and enjoy some quality Megaman action,Legends style or otherwise, then I'll take Capcom back. Until then,I feel rather burned.
@legendfirefox Even better they should release ports of Megaman Legends 1 and 2 on the 3DS (along with ports of all the other Megaman games). I would buy that in a heart beat.
Capcom need to release a compilation like they did on the PS2 GC and Xbox. Megaman Classic, Megaman X and Megaman Battle Network on one disc. If they can't reinvent anything new for now, they could AT LEAST try to think about real MM fans (like me)
When Kenji Infaune left Capcom, any hope of MegaMan coming back died with it. Cancelling MegaMan Universe was bad enough, then they cancel a game that was obviously one of the most anticipated games for the franchise in a long WITHOUT giving a good enough explanation as to why? And they wonder why people talk trash about SF4 and MvC3 with the amount of unnecessary rehashes they've done. Capcom claims that MegaMan is their trusted franchise. I find that hard to believe with the LACK OF ATTENTION HE'S GETTING.
@ZeroX91 - That is basically what they did with Ultimate MvC3. They put a picture of Megaman in the "Days of Future Past" scenery saying he is still alive and Zero wears X's suit as a DLC (that you have to pay for). First they cancelled Megaman Universe, then cancelled Megaman Legends 3, and to pour salt on the wound, they refused to put Megaman in MvC3 and UMvC3. He was in the last two games, been in many "sequencial" games and spin-offs. So yeah, their Golden boy, or man for this matter, has been given a huge Slap in the Face.
I wish they where making Mega Man Legends 3 for the ps3 that with trophy support would be amazing....
"I wonder if they're asking the Japanese indie community to make Megaman spin-offs" don't they already have about 7 mega man spin offs? If MEGA MAN is the original game then X, Zero, Legends, ZX, Battle Network and Star Force would all be spin offs in my book.
i just want mega man legends 3... its really the only thing they could do that would interest me at this point.
Theyre probably going to ruin it, like that have everything else. I'm probably the 17468868th person who has said that.
Honestly I can't help but feel this isn't sincere given that Capcom admitted to trolling the megaman fanbase in marvel vs capcom. (even though that's not how I interpreted the poster, it didnt say apprehended or slain)
I wonder if they're asking the Japanese indie community to make Megaman spin-offs, seeing their recent interest in the Doujin game business.
Capcom better deliver, that is all I am saying. I refused to buy Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 just for the pure disrespect they had for Megaman.
What I want the most from that company is a new Darkstalkers. But even then, we've had MvC3 to tell us that maybe it isn't a good time to expect much.
Make a new Mega Man game. Based on the original. And not another 8 bit retro game. A REAL NEW MEGA MAN game for PS3/XBOX 360 that brings Mega Man into the 21st century properly. Mega Man 8 wasn't that bad a game. Just keep on building on it and if remember your fans. Mega Man 11 doesn't have to be another 8 bit game to be good. Fans are ready to have another fun adventure again. I don't know why Capcom is doing the things they are as of late but I haven't enjoyed most of their decisions. Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition was just a pathetic cash cow move on their parts as was Ultimate MvC 3. The games are fine but they are milking the fans of money and not really offering anything worthwhile. Give us some new Mega Man games and stop with the fan service here. You already cancelled two games and continue to show you know how to tweak games and get folks to pay for the tweaks. How about making new games too based on series we actually want? I know what a concept. Here is hoping. We will see what the future holds.
I agree with you unknown with them not being able to make a mega-man for the next gen yet and as for this new Dante why not play as Vergil to learn more about him..?
Capcom has already shown these last few years that they no longer are competent enough to make a legitimate Mega Man game. They should just let the Blue Bomber die with his dignity; it'd be better than having a similar fate as Dante currently has.
It's not time that's gonna rebuild those bridges Capcom, its being honest, respecting your customers and making damn good games.
@RE4GreatesGame So did I.Then they cancelled the 3rd installment in one of my favorite franchises of the 64 era, after convincing me to work hard on helping with it's development, and now they just keep cranking out fighting game after fighting game after zombie killing game.Sorry pal,but I was disappointed severely.Time will tell if they can win me back.
considering top men insinuation in indiana jones meant they had locked it in a box in a warehouse for noone to ever see again, im very reluctant to believe crapcom on this one
I wouldn't mind seeing a Megaman X9, but it needs to be done right, and must have several hours of gameplay that the series lacks.
we want megaman , X , Legend . no more no less we knew the blue bumper as a plat former game(megaman ,X) and open world game (Legends)
C'mon Japanese devs. Get it together. This console generation is definitely lacking for quality Japanese games. I prefer games with people with blue hair and huge breasts.
@LegatoSkyheart Yes, but there isn't a choice to kill Chris, which is horrid of Capcom because Chris wasn't the best thing Capcom made and Leon was the one whose games were succesful. I see it as a stupid decision, see. We all have our opinions :)
Make a console 3rd person shooter Megaman game. Make it like Legends, just with the 3rd person shooter style. That's it, problem solved. add a multiplayer with customizable megamen and I promise people will come back for more. Name that game "Real Megaman Legends 3" and say you had everybody. April Fools. that'll make everybody happy
@Spinnerweb I thought it was that you have the CHOICE to kill Leon Kennedy. If I'm not mistaken you could also kill Chris too or have him Join Wesker.
Capcom you suck this year and you canceled two Megaman game I like too see and play it. YOU SUCK!!!!! CAPCOM!! YOU SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!
