I've just hit 80 hrs in the game so I've seen my fair share of freezes. Rebooting and clearing the cache should do the trick in most cases. This is the first time I'm hearing of the total system lock/can't play ANY game issues. But try booting while holding the A button or Zidura's Tip. Thats clear the cache. The servers are the biggest issue. Locking and failing to connect. Sega keeps updating every week. but I'm not sure how long this is going to take to fix these issues. There going to ruin the fan following as more people start connecting and keep locking/dropping. This is an online game and they need to support all the people that are buying their game. Thanks Zidura for the tip! yanike18 Your probably right.
Users report freezing problems with From Software's new mech shooter for the Xbox 360.
From Software's Chromehounds is off to a bumpy start. After being bogged down with server issues around the game's US launch, some users are now reporting that the game is frequently locking up on them.
On publisher Sega's official Chromehounds technical support message boards, the complaints about the game vary from case to case. Some have problems with the game locking up in the single-player levels, the online lobby, or the menu screen; there are even a few saying their systems not only crashed when they tried to play Chromehounds, but that they also haven't been able to play any Xbox 360 games since.
Inquiries to Sega about the matter went unreturned as of press time, but a Chromehounds message board administrator did respond to a user's complaint yesterday, saying the company is investigating the freezing issue, but has been having trouble replicating the problem.
i just wish sega read all of these comments and do something about it real fast because now i can't play any other game... when i insert a game it says "reading" for like 5 secs and then says "open tray". now all i can do is take it all out on the goblins from the N3 demo.
My 360 stopped playing Chromehounds just today. It comes up with the "Insert this disc in a 360 console screen" when inserted into the console but, I'm still able to play other 360 games.
ur awesome zerohour12, u know everything.. its just people making things up... YEAH RIGHT. come on, almost everybody whose posted here is complainting about chromehounds freezing in-game, and its happened to me too, after i finish a mission it stays still on a black screen, i just hope sega releases an update soon enough to prevent more crashes.
These reports are not just bitter people with 360's that unfortuntly broke. These are valid concerns. If you read the chromehounds forums, people are talking about poping noises coming through speakers before the game locks up, red rings on some hard reboots, ect. And this problem seems to happen to new and older consoles. As for me, my freezing issue started yesterday, and I am no longer able to play chromehounds in MP or SP. Its not my 360 since I can play all my other games still. I did hear the poping noises and I did get one ring of death, but when I take out the chromehounds game everything works fine.
maxpower, work on your grammar. carcrazy, play the game before you bash the damned system. as for the rest of you, stop blaming it on Sega and quit acting like spoiled brats. take care of your 360s. i have the game, since its release, and my 360 is perfectly fine.
This game is so much fun online! There are some issues that need to be cleared up, like inability to send Squad invites (AFAIK) and no observer mode after death in online matches... but otherwise the customisation, the amount you HAVE to work as a team, the strategy, graphics - great! I have never had it freeze after 28 hrs total play, I have had GRAW freeze about 5 times. There are some connectivity problems that can be helped by putting your router into open NAT and having a static IP in your network - ah the price of online gaming!
What did u people expect, don't u guys play games on the PC, hello Windows based platform. I'm actually surprised no one has reported a blue screen of death on their 360. Then again M$ probably removed the error message and that is in fact what people are experiencing :-)
Great game but the freezes are annoying. I have had a couple freezes when viewing my friends list and trying to create a private chat session.
Actually there is an official method provided by Microsoft for clearing the cache. Go to the memory system blade, choose device options and hit X, X, LB, RB, X, X in that order. You'll get an option to clear the cache. This does not erase saved games -- only the cache of temporary files and things like game updates, which take seconds to download. Chromehounds did freeze my 360 -- and it froze hard -- couldn't exit the game or anything -- had to restart manually (as in, press the little ring of light on the machine). I'm a bit worried about the game messing up my 360. But I probably won't be able to return it for a refund, I'm guessing. Maybe a patch will address the problem. It blows me away that QA wouldn't have detected this problem when it's obviously so wide spread. Most incidents I've read about occurred in a highly reproducible situation -- immediately after finishing an online mission, as it attempts to re-connect with the main servers. This is when mine froze, too. How can they not have noticed this problem? It's amazing. Shame on Chromehounds QA staff.
First of all i have had NO problems with this game whatsoever, if you get 14 year old kids leaving their 306's on for days at a time and rotating the console while the disk is in ofcourse it will crash and freeze and whatever. Secondly Chromehounds is one of the funnest online games i have ever played. if you get a group of your friends together and kick some trash on live, it will change you whole view of the game. Yeah it has some problems but overall this game is awesome and everyone should play it!!!!!
"I've not played the game (played the demo - it's not my thing) but problems are not unique to Chromehounds. Oblivion had (and to some extent still has) problems including lock ups and crashes. The difference is Oblivion is a top-notch game. Chromehounds isn't in the same league and will receive greater criticism than Oblivion did." As you said, you havnt played teh game, the Problem is happening when connecting to the SERVER. These problems arent happnening WHEN you are in a match. These are server issues, or if you have a lower bandwith, and try to join a match that has 10-12 players. Its nothing like oblivions bugs.
...another thing to add: If anyone experiences something like this they should not panic. Most people will say it is related to a hardware problem but this is simply not true. One trick I know about on how to reset the HDD cache (if it is corrupted) is to place 5 different games (other than the one you suspect created the problem, in this case Chrome Hounds) into your 360 and let each load up before replacing the other. This might seem like a "stand on your head, and touch your nose" type solution but the 360 retains a cache for the last five games you play to keep frequent accessed data on it. By pushing a game out of the 5 game que then the cache is overwritten. Again, this why I say they should just add a feature so we can manually clear the cache from the dashboard. I predict it will happen eventually.
I own the game and have seen no problems. Well, it froze up once but I turned off the game and turned it back on and it was fine (being a PC gamer from the 1980 and 90s I dont see this as a "problem" but something that will occassionally (hopefully rarely) happen. I have completed all the single player scenarios so I have played it quite a bit. I have found that if the statement of some users "not being able to play anymore games" is true, then this signifies an HDD cache corruption which occured in another game. All you have to do is reset the cache. See www.xbox.com tech support on how to do that. It should be very rare that this occurs. Hopefully, in the next dashboard update, we will have to ability to clean the cache on the HDD from the memory "Y" button device menu.
I've not played the game (played the demo - it's not my thing) but problems are not unique to Chromehounds. Oblivion had (and to some extent still has) problems including lock ups and crashes. The difference is Oblivion is a top-notch game. Chromehounds isn't in the same league and will receive greater criticism than Oblivion did.
The gameplay is awesome, but SEGA really needs to get their act together. I've had the game freeze a number of times, and combined with the server issues it is starting to detract from the playing experience. Add in the poorly thought out message system and the frustration level only rises. They are really fortunate that playing the game is so addictive or there wouldn't be anybody with enough patience left to play it!
I love the game...haven't had any issues other than server issues. Its a great start for a mech game on the 360. Oh and anyone who thinks Armored Core is the best mech games out you must never have played any of the Mechwarrior games on the PC (not that crap released to the consoles a ways back). Mechwarrior by far was the best and is a franchise that should be reborn on the 360!
I've had it lock on me a time or two; but for the most part it's been no big deal. It's not enough of an issue for me not to spend hour upon hour on XBL with this game.
Well, I have a suggestion to those who have minor freezing issues: Lay your Xbox 360 console down flat instead of standing it up. Or make sure that if it is standing up, make sure it is ABSOLUTELY level, because if it's not, the CD could tip away from the laser in some spots, causing holes in the Data that your console recieves.. I know, you're probably saying "That doesn't matter.." But, when Prey was locking up during load screens for me, I laid the xbox flat, and it hasn't had a problem since. If you have major freezing issues, like your console freezing and later not working... You probably just have a crappy Xbox, and it took a powerful game like Chromehounds to push the defect over the edge.
I've had the game lock up twice., which is nothing major alot of games do that from time to time. All in all it is a good game. The multiplayer can be a pain in the ass though.
I've been playing since the day it was released without any problems at all on my end. There have been some server glitches, such as not being able to see a Squad member in the lobby every now and then. Otherwise, the game has been stable and lots of fun. No complaints here, I am glad I purchased Chromehounds, and I would recommend it to any Mech fan that likes team play online.
No real problems here. The occasional server issue, but no locking up. This game is not for everyone. For die hard mech fans it is a must, but probably won't appeal to twitchy gamers or your typical Halo 2 kiddie. Personally, I love it! Have been hooked since I got it last week and haven't taken it out of the machine.
Chromehound actually is better than I thought it would be. Though single-player just seem to be a "training sim", at least it gives some nice upgrades for completing it that you can't get from online play.
I've had NBA 2K6 freeze on me a couple of times mid-game. But for all of the times I've played my 360, the freezing issue really hasn't been that big a deal overall. Maybe I'll experience additional freezing issues when more $60 games go down in price...
I've had no troubles with this game at all. Anyone still on the fence about buying it should go out and do it. Specially if you have Xbox Live Gold. I was dubious at first, but god am I pleased I purchased such an amazing online game. Increasingly immersive, MASSIVE customisation and a persistant online world (at war). 9/10 for this puppy!
Well the QA team did a good job then...this is the kind of stuf that should be found and addressed by them before the game even ships. Of course, this isn't the kind of game I would buy anyway so I would never have a problem, but I wouldn't want to rent it and have it ruin my console. That would suck...
It's possible for a faulty game or disc to screw up the laser, or something equally horrible which may cause the console to stop working properly, not ver plausable, but its certainly not impossible. Ive yet to play Chromehounds, it looks really good, but ive yet to save up for a 360 yet :P so thats a little while off yet. Diablo
It's a fantastic game, hands down my favorite. The online play is a blast. The only problems I've experienced personally have been server related, where the CH server itself would drop people from my squad occasionally. I had some of those issues, but they were resolved by getting a new router that was "Live compatible", loosly translating to one with open NAT routines.
Geckosprouch, it's most likely a PS3 fanboy talking a load of sh*t. I highly f*cking doubt a game could make a console innoperable. IF that can happen, then it must be to do with a HDD. Maybe SEGA can't replicate the problem because they have a clean HDD but I personally wouldn't believe it.
What could possibly go wrong with a game to render the console unusable?! That's a serious bug. Maybe it somehow corrupts memory or the HDD...?
my chromehounds freezes as well. Im kind of mad, cause I only have another week with BXL Gold, and Chromhounds is worthless offline
too the people complaining about microsofts warrenty programe i suggest you realise that if you are american there is only 3 months warrenty on any electrical item if you didnt buy extended warrenty then you are mad here in the uk we get 12 months but you goto remeber your 360 premium 399 dollars ours 280 pounds do the maths and realise why we pay more i have returned my 360 and they replaced it within 7 days and restarted my warrenty now i would say that was jolly good so dont blame microsoft for your own lack of intelligence
omg, For those in here who have never played the game, NO ONE CARES WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY. Chromehounds is a great game online, and fun and addicting and very deep. The single player mode is just ,liek mechassault, no one cares about it. The game is about online play. And its not really BUGS in the game. ITS THE NETWORK. Ive yet to experince freezing during gameplay. Any lock up , disconnects, or freezing that has occured with me has been when the game tries to communicate with the Chromhound server.
my chromehounds hasn't given me any issues, hell, havn't had any issues with my 360 except for one time in perfect dark when i was doing offline multiplayer and the thing froze for about 5 seconds.... it was very awkward... hmmm... aside from that, nothing
Had Prey freeze up on me during a 6 hour run, but i played chromehounds with no problems. Amp 3 and Perfect Dark Zero all had similar issues with me but it was only once in a while.
I've had a cpuple of lockups, although they stopped once I clered the 360 cache- same problem as with oblivion, actually. Maybe it is linked to first-gen 360's?
