I second slayaz comments. Adrian is very competent, but sadly has minuscule wedding vegetables. And he's rubbish at Bomberman - but you can't have everything.
New development facility in Surrey opens its doors with Adrian Bolton at the helm.
UK publisher and developer Codemasters has opened a new studio in Guildford, Surrey, bringing its total number of studios to three. The new studio, imaginitively named Codemasters Studios Guildford, will be headed up by Adrian Bolton, previously development director for Electronic Arts Criterion, which is known principally for the Burnout series.
Codemasters Studios Guildford is currently recruiting "with an emphasis on programming" and is aiming for a total of 35 staff this year, with more hires predicted in the future.
The company's headquarters is in Southam, Warwickshire, and it also has the art-focused Codemasters Studios Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. Games developed by Codemasters include DiRT, Brian Lara International Cricket 2007, and TOCA Race Driver 3.
The new studio will first be collaborating with the other two offices on projects including Race Driver One and Operation Flashpoint 2, and expand to start developing its own intellectual properties from 2008.
With Mr. Bolton leading them, I think we can expect some decent things from them, even if it is only programing.
I hope they make Micro Maniacs for next gen systems, we still play that game @ club. 8 player fun. O:!
They sold a ton of DiRT, decent amount of Overlord, and both Jericho and Turning Point: Fall of Liberty look very interesting this fall. Codemasters is slowly making a comeback.
codemasters have suddenly upped their game recently, they went into hibernation mode for a few years but seem like they mean business now
Good maybe if they can make some good games other developers (I'm looking at you EA!) will put more effort into their games.
i live in guildford and more and more studios are coming here. lion head, criterion, EA and now codemasters.
Excellent news, more and more places are opening which will hopefully mean more and more games for us all
I wish the new studio well. It's always good to see more developers. Hopefully, they will pump out some decent games.
