u can't make a game out of this noo it's not going to work its a waste of money Canceled this game now not worht playing in all system
D3 signs on to make PS2, Wii, DS games based on Nightmare Before Christmas director's film adaptation of Neil Gaiman novel.
Focus Features' upcoming film Coraline is being billed as the first stop-motion animation film to be made in 3D. It's not terribly surprising then that the film is spawning a handful of 3D games.
D3 Publisher today announced that it will be adapting Coraline for games on the Wii, PlayStation 2, and DS, with all versions scheduled in January, just ahead of the film's February 6 North American release.
Directed by Henry Selick, Coraline will be the filmmaker's first full-length stop-motion animated film since he first established himself with the classic The Nightmare Before Christmas and James and the Giant Peach. As with James, Selick will be working from the source material of a well-respected scribe. The original novel Coraline was penned by Neil Gaiman, author of the seminal Sandman series of comics as well as Stardust, a novel adapted to the big screen last year.
In the film, a young girl discovers a doorway to a fantastic alternate reality in her house. However, when her alternate world turns sinister, she must marshal her wits to escape the predicament and return home to her old life.
Coraline has not yet been rated and is under development by Papaya Studios (Medal of Honor: Airborne, Larry Boy and the Bad Apple) and Art Co. (Shaun the Sheep, Gunpey for DS).
maybe not a hack, but incredibly overplayed. Not only that, but if you ever read/look at any of his printed work, like Oyster Boy, you would be appalled. I really can't see how ANYONE could argue for any of his printed work's quality or even its mediocrity. Considering how many people are involved in a film, it's much easier to hide your inadequacies than it is in a book filled with your own prose and your own drawings. I think this exposes him as being much worse than say, Tarantino. Let's also not forget that Tarantino knows his stuff. He knows a TON about the style he's filming and what he's filming to the point of plagiarism. Burton on the other hand, has been quoted, for example, as saying how he'd never read a Batman comic when he made the first movie. Alright folks, i've criticized someone who gets inexplicable box office dollars. Let's start hitting me with those thumbs down ratings. I want at least a -6!
Calm down guys. Tim Burton didn't even direct The Nightmare Before Christmas. It was directed by Henry Selick, and Selick is directing the movie Coraline.
Paladin_King i agree w\ burton being overrated and spawning the "hot topic goth" generation, i see a lot of kids wearing nightmare before xmas gear who weren't even born or were no older than 3 when it came out walking around like they're so dark and indy. but he's not a complete hack. uwe boll & guy ritchie...now those are hacks.
@ Paladin_King The Same SHOULD be said about Quentin Tarantino. All his movies are the same style: lots and lots of talking with the occasional extreme use of violence followed by more talking. Every Single Movie.
Neil Gaiman = good Tim Burton = complete hack If this were based on the book, I'd be interested. However, being based on a movie is NOT good luck, even if D3 is an ok dev. Tim Burton is one of the, if not the most talentless and overrated film-maker in Hollywood. All of his movies have the same style. Furthermore, if you've ever read his writing or seen his art, you'd realize just how much of a talentless, sub-culture creating/exploiting tool this guy is. He cannot write and he cannot draw, but he's created a mass of faux-goths who will spread the word and financially support him. Great.
I read Coraline the book and this is kinda, probably going to be dissapointing has the book was good but if i were to make it into a video game it would only be 30 minutes and it would have to spoil the book and to extend it beyond its book kinda takes away from the books good story. I hate Ds
hopefully this license won't fall prey to the usual poor results from movies being made into video games....hopefully.... *crosses fingers*
D3 is quite an independent publisher now, but adapting Neil Gaiman's stories...Nighmare Before Christmas? I sense a lot of average platforming games coming...though the franchises have soo much potential
HEy nice movie. I didn't see that coming, now looking forward for it. Err, about the game, no idea. I think it could sucks.
The movie plot is good because I read the same book back in 6th grade I have doubts that the game will be good
