Job listing at United Kingdom developer seeks multiplayer programmer to work on Alien game for current- and future-generation consoles.
It looks like Creative Assembly's upcoming Alien title may land on both current- and future-generation consoles. A multiplayer programmer job listing at the United Kingdom developer (spotted by GamerZines) calls for a person to build a "AAA multiplatform title on current and future generation consoles set in the Alien universe."
Publisher Sega announced Creative Assembly's Alien title in May 2011, saying it will be based more on the suspense-driven Alien film rather than the fast-paced Aliens, but it will still be an "action" game. The title has yet to be shown publicly, and further details remain absent.
In June 2011, Sega Europe's managing director of development, Gary Dunn, said the team at Creative Assembly may ship its new Alien title for the Wii U.
"We're considering it," Dunn told Eurogamer at the time. "But there are no decisions on…the Creative Assembly Alien title we haven't announced any platforms for yet. As we go through production we'll need to monitor what the best platforms are to launch that game on."
Creative Assembly's Alien project marks the fifth title based on the property since Sega landed the license in December 2006. The publisher first commissioned a role-playing game set in the sci-fi universe from Obsidian Entertainment (Fallout: New Vegas) before canceling the project in mid-2009. The company also hired Gearbox Software (Borderlands) to work on the first-person shooter Aliens: Colonial Marines, which is set for release this fall. In February 2010, Sega released the Rebellion-developed Aliens vs. Predator to lukewarm reviews. Lastly, WayForward built the warmly received Aliens: Infestation for the DS, which shipped in October 2011.
the alien games these days look really beautiful but you can't really see much more than there arms and hands in first person so all that 3d modeling and animation can't be appreciated like a 3rd person game.
Allow you to actually be the alien and I'll buy it, If its another space marine game then you may need to count me out.
As long as there's a mode where I get to play as the Alien and kill innocent people, I'll buy it instantly. :)
I could of sworn this was announced for the Wii U a long time ago oh well can't wait for this to come out seems to be an aliens game done right.
It would be nice to see a 3rd person survival horror on this tittle...Alien had set a standard for Sci fi horror...but the games took the horror out and left it sci fi. ...A 3rd person game would be nice...first person is cool and all but players really can't appreciate the character /creature design and animation of the character when you can only see your hands ...

How can you go through production not knowing what the hell you are producing the product for?
I remember an old 3rd person shooter alien game in the arcades which was really fun back in the days when people were at arcades haha..Alien is such an awesome world unfortunately none of the games these days are fun. I tried a few of them and 10 mins in the game I was not entertained and I love alien so it was a major dissapointment. the last alien game that came out not one person was online...I do hope to see a good alien game sometime in the near future.
I must admit I didn't even know another Alien game was in the works until I read this article. I do hope they focus more on the tension and suspense from the first Alien movie in this game. I love Aliens, and I'm looking forward to Colonial Marines, but a slower-paced game with more of a 'survival horror' vibe would be good to see.
Thats cool! First Alien Infestation for DS which was a great game, now Aliens Colonial Marines and then Alien! I love you Sega, this is your first good deed since Dreamcast era!
Aliens :Total War is going to be awesome! Just make sure to keep your units set to loose formation until right before you make melee contact when charging rifle armed marines. lol
Well whatever, just please make it good. With Prometheus coming out next month, the Aliens bar is getting raised.
I'm glad that The Creative Assembly is going a different route from the more action-oriented Aliens: Colonial Marines. Colonial Marines looks great, but I know many people would be interested in a scarier game based on the first Alien film, as well.
I agree. A more 'survival horror' kind of game set in that universe would be great to see.
I just hope it wont be a let down like other games that appeared this year, most of them didnt deliver even 30% of what they promised.
I hope they are making a new Aliens game.
I really enjoyed Aliens: Infestation, and I am looking forward to Colonial Marines.
well i remember alien vs predator the first firs person shooter was really hard and good then alien vs predator 2 which was good, then came a one that really sucked hard
i think it can be good if its challenging, i no longer care about visuals
