Crysis 3 due February 19

Crytek's new shooter arriving this winter; From Hell director tapped for video series "The 7 Wonders of Crysis 3."

Gamers awaiting Crysis 3 now have a date to circle on their calendars: February 19. That's the day Crysis 3 arrives in North America, followed by a February 21 launch in Europe.

In addition to announcing the release date for Crysis 3, Electronic Arts revealed that it has tapped From Hell and Dead Presidents director Albert Hughes for a new online video series called "The 7 Wonders of Crysis 3."

The program is to "set the stage" for Crysis 3 by introducing players to weapons, enemies, locations, and gameplay features that will be featured in the new game. According to the announcement, Hughes was "intimately involved" with the development team at Crytek for "The 7 Wonders of Crysis 3," which was created entirely using in-game assets rendered by CryEngine 3.

Crysis 3 is a first-person shooter set in 2047 New York that casts players as Prophet, a supersoldier seeking vengeance. For more, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.

Crysis 3 and Bioshock 3...I have to upgrade, I haven't did any upgrading since 07, I think it is about time, also XP must be outdated, Far Cry 3, looks like it will be the last game utilizing this OS.  Seems like the newer game will require Win 7 or 8.  I wounder if my Quad duos' could still cut it?.

Crysis franchise has proven graphics don't make the game. Best graphics on the market but one of the blandest , most forgettable shooters I've ever played.

 @moviequest14 Crysis 2 had one of the best single player campaigns for a FPS I've played in awhile (Farcry 3 is one of my new favorites). I prefer Crysis 2 over COD's campaign anyday... Then again I'm not the mountain dew guzzling dorito munching type anymore. I don't look to a FPS for a great story, I play RPGs for that, but as far as gameplay goes... Crysis 2 was great IMO.

 

Graphics don't make the game, but I think Crysis is a bad example of this. I see your Halflife avatar, and that's one of the greatest franchises ever made; but they're taking so long to drop HL3 I've almost forgotten about it.

 @M3o5nsterI have the growing fear I'll be a geriatric before Half-Life 3 is made, and I won't live long enough to see Half-Life 4. The damn franchise might even give Duke Nukem Forever a run for its money.

Pretty sad that my gtx 670 will barely run this game in minimum settings. The card came out just a few months ago. This is BS. Why would they alienate so many people from playing this.

 @WoZe The 670 is more than enough.  You're nowhere near bottom of the barrel.  My 560Ti in a 4 year old build will be fine as well.  Also it's less about alienating and more about pushing boundaries.  Crysis 1 came out in 2007 and the majority of PC gamers could barely play the game.  It was THE benchmark for PCs.  Everyone always tried to build Crysis capable machines.  Plus it's nice when companies make actual PC games instead of just simplified console ports.  This is why Crysis 1 will always be better than 2 in my opinion.  Half the games out there still use DX9.

*Just my opinion. Bought Crysis 2 after all the hype for the first and was really let down by it. (I did like one though when i eventually got it on XBLA but there was little replay value.)

A single 690 runs Cryis 2 and 108fps, and Crysis 1/warhead at 94fps with everything maxed at 5670x1200... Somehow I don't expect Crysis 3, even as good looking as it's going to be push my card much harder than they do. Particularly given the higher efficiency of the engine.

Then there is something SERIOUSLY wrong with their system, I've got three screen sitting right here that I've been playing on, maxed, running everything like cake. Hell right here these guys have got the thing at stock clock speeds running Crysis at 5760x1200 in the mid 60s, http://www.anandtech.com/show/5805/nvidia-geforce-gtx-690-review-ultra-expensive-ultra-rare-ultra-fast/5 . So yah, I guess mine, and these guy's system is full of magic. Or maybe you're just the fool.

 

I also doubt you've spent 2k on these cards. Hell I doubt you've even got one.

Pray for my 9800GT or I`m postponing the play! I`m pretty sure other games won`t catch-up with Crysis 3 performance until 2016 at least!

Excellent, I look forward to buying Crysis 3 used and showing that Crytek guy just how "awesome" it would be to restrict used games.  Even though he's probably bought a secondhand house, car, CD, book, movie disk, etc., at least once in his life.

As much as I loved Crysis 2...I missed the jungle setting, the mystery and the freedom of Crysis 1. I hope thye do a little bit of both games in 3 so that everybody is happy. Nonetheless...I can't wait for this.

Just Upgraded my card to gtx 680......i think it will handle it...

sorry, but you probably will not, I was in alpha a month ago, a mere 20sx20s mp map completely murdered my 680SLI.  I was getting 22-35 with a single card and max 55 with SLI mode.  just saying

I think that crysis 2 was very good. And the multiplayer was very good in my opinion, fast paced, with lots of special abilities, vertical gameplay and solid map design.The only big letdown was undoubtedly the AI. I really hope they worked hard on it this time around!

Alot of people said that Crysis 2 was the best looking game ever....not close....was good looking but wasn't even close to games like Uncharted 3.GOW3,Halo4.I got rid of the game shortly after getting it...wasnt that fun IMO

 @mrsniper83 grats if that's what crysis2 looked on console, but the crysis2 on PC, there's nothing from 2013's line up or all the crap from gaming history can even put a dent on crysis2.

now February feels light years ahead, hurry up crytek, release crysis3 and save this pity world from full of ugly graphics from all games.

even though your crysis2 can still sit tight on the graphic king throne for many years to come without any effort but little less linear design wouldn't hurt, I saw what you did with the last demo and I hope the full game delivers.  games from cryengine3 are humanity's only hope.

 @lyncer777  @hangman000 so does crysis2.... as well as other couple dozen next gen level rendering features crysis1 and other games can't handle.

 @hangman000 looks like you are confused with game's location setting and assets with the actual visual rendering quality, everything crysis1 does can be directly imported to crysis2's CE3 and the result is instantly 20 times better, the same can't applied other wise, the dated fsaa  from crysis1/CE2 is one of most dated AA method in the world, apply x16x32Q as you wish, it won't remove alising from complex vegetation edge, motion, and particles unlike the MSAA of crysis2 which is the solution for all of those.every other things you said such as draw distance, water(crysis2 render water with real gemomentry) Destruction are all 20 times more advanced in crysis2.

 @hangman000 buy yourself a real computer or a pair of new glasses, crysis1 is a 2007 game to be maxed outted with 2010 hardware, like mentioned above, crysis2 piss all over crysis1 on even lowest setting.  even console games after 2011 all looked better than crysis1.

 @GameFan1983 Crysis 2 as a graphics king? Maybe with mods. The stock game looks worse than Crysis 1, Metro 2033, Witcher 2 or Far Cry 3. 2013 match up to watch is Metro Last Light vs. Crysis 3.

let me have some of what you are smoking, i'm a veteran modder of ce2 and ce3, and clocked thousands hrs in cryeinge2 and cryeinge3 , whether you are talking about polygon counts, shader, lighting source amount, lighting path, or anything rendering quality related, crysis1 is nowhere close to crysis2 on any aspect, even on lowest setting, crysis2 still crush crysis1 by at least 20 times.
