Two-week beta to be available to all on 360, PS3 and PC.
EA has announced an open beta for Crytek-developed shooter Crysis 3 for all platforms on January 29.
Crysis 3's open beta will run for two weeks and includes two modes playable on two maps. Both maps, Airport and Museum, are set in Crysis 3's rainforest-themed take on New York City.
The first mode on offer, Crash Site, is the familiar King of the Hill gametype - two teams battle it out to secure a rotating set of locations on the map. The other available mode is called Hunter, and is a spin on the Infection gametype seen in games like Halo; two people spawn as stealthy Nanosuit hunters and must work to take down the remaining 10 (14 on PC) regular players. Knocking off any one of the competition will see them respawn as a Nanosuit hunter.
Players will also be able to sample New York Feed, Crysis 3's take on DICE's Battlefield social tracker Battlelog.
Crysis 3 -- which allegedly "maxes out" the 360 and PS3 -- will be released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on February 19 in North America and February 21 in Europe.
So good loved the beta! already preordered :D
"Launch the Origin client and log in to your account.
You can now select the My Games tab within Origin to see the Open Beta. From here you can download and install the game."
Does anyone see something there ?
"Multiplayer Beta". Gonna suck. Until Crysis stops being the crappy console game that it has become and starts to focus on singleplayer and next-gen technology it will be terrible. Just another great game that has gone down the same path as Call of Duty.
Loved Crysis 2 as far as single-player but multiplayer was very frustrating. I'll still check out the beta and get Crysis 3 on pre-order.
@Rotondi Why, crysis 2 was quite different from crysis 1, and crysis 3 looks like it will once again be quite different. Objectively speaking, they are making perfect sequels (some innovation whilst keeping overall theme the same.)
I sincerely hope it returns to Crysis 1, both in terms of quality and in terms of multiplayer style (the huge maps, vehicles, ridiculous weapons and of course the suit abilities). Crysis 1's multiplayer seemed like a throwback to the golden age of Multiplayer FPS's and felt a lot like Unreal Tournament in certain settings.
Crysis 2 came off as much more bland and uninteresting. And of course in terms of singleplayer nothing beats the fantastically open Crysis 1 levels over the painfully linear Crysis 2.
@BuBsay They can't do that because the game would not run in consoles. The console market is their primary target now.
You can see it in the simplistic gameplay and plot in Crysis 2. Even the CoD-like forced multiplayer that was dead 3 months after launch.
EA killing another IP.
Crysis 2 was not as good as Crysis 1 at all. And the multi-player for Crysis 2 was terrible. It was so unbalanced that anyone new to the multiplayer didn't have a chance against 50th level guys with over powered suits...hated it and won't play Crysis 3 multiplayer.
@lemmy2 I disagree with you. I got Crysis 2 on the fourth day it was out. I was on par skill-wise with level 40+ players. By level 20, I was pawning level 50 players. Maybe you just couldn't keep up.
The game was perfectly balance, I could even see cloaked dudes without nano vision. They're also easy to kill with two bullets from a SCAR.
Lol at casual players trying to play Crysis.
I played in closed beta, and something about competitve multiplayer really has no appeal for me. Perhaps I'm just not that kind of gamer, I've never really enjoyed competitive shooters, especially any featuring voice chat because they always have tons of really vulgar, angry chat going on.
Was really hoping the game would feature a co-operative multiplayer mode against NPCs, like Mass Effect 3, but alas, I haven't seen any mode like that yet.
@pathosfire Try BF3. Best FPS and more team oriented. Community is more mature and less lil kids cussing and throwing tantrums.
Never been part of a beta before and have an xbox...will they just have it for download on live or do I need to sign up somewhere to be invited? Thanks for any help.
"the amount of data we put in and the detail level is far superior" Well that doesn't matter if the game is not that fun. Which is what Crysis 2 multiplayer was for me. Halo 4 looks just as good as crysis 2 and has a better art style. Halo multiplayer is far superior to crysis multiplayer in nearly every way. ( Maps, Gametype variety, Popularity) Crysis may technically "look" better but that doesn't mean shit when your gameplay doesn't live up to it. Look at GTA IV, the graphics of that game are very dated, its 4 years old, yet its still in the top 20 most played on xbox live. I haven't seen crysis 2 in there since the game came out.
@BlueTurtz Halo has a lot of symmetrical maps, I noticed. I liked the vertical integration of the levels in Crysis 2 as a fresh idea despite the COD loadouts which Halo emulates now as well.
Maybe this will actually make me want to buy Crysis 3 later on down the road because at this moment, I'm not too eager to buy it because Crysis 2's multiplayer was not that fun.
Its too late for a beta? It seems like it will just be another Multiplayer demo, which is fine with me lol.
@dkdk999 Ya, you can max out consoles. There will always be a little bit more you can stretch, but at the point Crysis 3 will probably be at its so small that its not even noticeable.
I enjoy the single player of the crysis series but I have never been a fan of the crysis series multiplayer and Crysis 3 multiplayer will be no different.
@ztron370 yeah but this time the modes are from singplayer game instead of Team Death match and Free for all mode they used in Crysis 2
Video said, "the best technically competent game every released on consoles". That is not saying much considering the console tech is seven years old.
@TheOnlyConan Ya... it kind of is. Of course your probably a PC elitist with a stick up his ass and if somebody mentions the words 'Crysis' and 'graphics' while omitting the word PC than you will be the first to point out console inferiority. But don't worry your pc master race head, little one, Crysis 3 for PC is going to be the best looking game to date, I'm sure.
@vault-boy Lol.... your reply to conan was way too hostile and insinuating waaaaaaaay too much. A+ if you're going for trolling. All he did was state a fact....current gen consoles are in fact seven years old..... Consoles are nothing more than simplified PC's.... But they are always going to be inferior to real PC's because of economical reasons they only change once in a generation.... whereas PC's are always evolving. Nothing to be Butthurt over.
@OldJames420 @NosadaAssasin @vault-boy Well for 400 or so dollars (or less even) you can also upgrade your pc nowadays and easily beat consoles, assuming you already got a screen and a case (from your normal desktop pc you use to browse the web for example) wihle getting games at a cheaper price, be it retail or steam/digital distribution sales. So ... hum yeah...
