Crysis 3 multiplayer beta nets 3 million downloads
EA reveals millions of gamers have downloaded beta since launch January 29; preorders up 35 percent over Crysis 2.
The Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC multiplayer beta for Crysis 3, which went live January 29, has been downloaded over 3 million times worldwide, Electronic Arts announced today. In addition, EA said preorders for the first-person shooter are pacing ahead of Crysis 2 by 35 percent.
On top of this, EA revealed that its online video series "The 7 Wonders of Crysis 3" helped the Crysis YouTube channel cross 16 million views. This series was produced by From Hell and Dead Presidents director Albert Hughes.
Crysis 3 is a first-person shooter set in 2047 New York that casts players as Prophet, a supersoldier seeking vengeance. The game is due out for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC on February 19, 2013.
A "lack of business drive" killed the Wii U version of Crysis 3, according to Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli.
