Yipee! Will buy as long as it's not full price. Great that console gamers will get a shot at this. Will look good, but more importantly it's got quality gameplay. Now there's a novel concept.
ESRB, Korean rating board evaluate console versions of Crytek's 2007 first-person shooter.
In March, dedicated Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 gamers were able to get their first taste of Crytek's signature first-person shooter franchise with Crysis 2. Now it appears they'll soon be able to get a second helping of the nano-suit-enabled franchise with console editions of the first Crysis.
The Entertainment Software Rating Board and the Korean equivalent Game Rating Board have both posted age guidelines for an Xbox 360 edition of the original Crysis. Though Sony's console is absent from the GRB site, the ESRB's database also mentions a PS3 version of the game.
Rumors of a console version of Crysis started almost as soon as the game had a name, but have yet to be officially confirmed. Inquiries to Crytek and Crysis publisher Electronic Arts were not returned as of press time.
The sophomore effort from Frankfurt, Germany-based Crytek, Crysis was a first-person shooter and a technological showpiece for the studio's PC-only CryEngine 2. Since that time, Crytek has introduced CryEngine 3, which was incorporated into Crysis 2 and designed to run on the Xbox 360 and PS3.

pmar27 Posted Jul 7, 2011 4:16 am GMT so many people hating on the consoles jeeeeeez. im excited for this cus i dont have the money or type of computer to play crysis. its all about the gameplay and as long as i can tell im in a ba nanosuit killing aliens and people im good =========== Don't sweat it man, been a gamer since the mid 70's (hardcore to the end), and play both console and PC. Like everything in life, it takes time to accumulate tech to supply your habits, you'll get there eventually. It wasn't until recently that you could hook up a large TV to your home PC, unlike before when you needed to buy huge monitors. That's why the console(s) took off because they went straight to the large home TV setups...etc. PC's (like my system) can now join that club, and they are making a comeback in gaming. No biggie...save your money.

some people making me laugh about uncharted 3 or killzone 3, killzone 3 graphics is rubish to comparing pc titles of 2010 or 2011 like metro 2033 or crysis 2 on pc, uncharted 2, 3\? really, crysis 1 killing them all, just look at s killzone 3 textures or shadows, they look so ugly comparing to pc crysis 1 perfected shadows or lighting, killzone 3 using only artificial HDR, my got people are so stupid nowadays, they think ps3 and xbox 360 is showing better graphics than pc :D
Yay moar RROD's. It's not like the consoles will run this game at 30 FPS completely maxed WITH AA! For the record I spent about $500-600 on my PC so it IS affordable unlike all of you console kiddies! Honestly, though, I prefer The Witcher 2's graphics to Crysis. I just like the style better.
@Jawehawk-DK never said uncharted 2 and killzone 3 had better graphics then the witcher 2? You sure? Posted Jul 2, 2011 8:29 am PT "You say that PC games are dumbed down for the consoles, yet no PC game has reached the same graphics as Uncharted 2 and Killzone 3" Lie more it makes me giggle.
LMAO are you serious, Uncharted 2 and Killzone 3 has better graphics than the original crysis? REALLY? You need to take your super computer teh ceLL operated fan-boy glasses off lol. Other than the witcher for PC Nothing even touches the original Crysis, including Crysis 2 lol. That game is a HUGE system hog. I'm not even a PC fan I have consoles and I know nothing touches the original crysis for PC. And this is why I'm glad I got rid of my PS3 because of its fanboy's. You guys are just too much. Sorry nothing on the PS3 even comes close to Crysis, or any other Graphics heavy PC game.
@tachsniper I never said that either of those games had better graphics than The Witcher 2. I said that KZ3 and Uncharted 2 has better graphics than the original Crysis. The only thing I said about The Witcher 2 is that I thought it was very similiar to the jungle landscape seen in Uncharted 2. You're both arrogant and ignorant, so I suggest you take a few steps back and actually read my comments. Grow up kid.
@Jawehawk-DK sometimes you people make it too easy. never even played the Witcher 2 but profess that uncharted and killzone still have better graphics. fail harder, it makes me laugh.
I freaking laughed my ass off at the guy implying uncharted and killzone had better graphics than crysis. I think it was jawehawk? Seriously, are you high or do you only get your PC information from youtube videos? I can just imagine crysis 1 on consoles with low settings, it would still be more fun than crysis 2.
Sure, this is a good idea, but if they bring it to consoles, they should have something like an update, free DLC, or something for the PC, to bring back all the popularity and such.
@Phil-teh-Pirate Have you heard of the indie project entitled, "Far Cry 2010 Mod"? Check it out if you haven't already.
@Jawehawk-DK nvm arma it is a good game depends on your time patience a good comp. and if you get passed the bugs but nevertheless comparing tw2 with uncharted and you didn't even play it it's kinda stupid, don't get me wrong i don't thing you are stupid but your comparison was. And crysis still looks better than killzone 3 even afther 4 years or less because of the amount of details, it's not like looking at a static thing painted pretty it's like a thing that comes close to the real one because of it's movement sharpness and effects, but still kz series are good looking ....nevertheless everybody is seeing in a game what he wants and that should be the case if you like a game , even if it has bad graphics or others hate it you will still like it no matter what others will say about it/......
@jollybest1 I have not tried either of the two games you mentioned, because they do not interest me. Arma 2 looks and plays terrible. I can play Crysis on the highest of settings, yet my pc couldn't even handle Arma 2 on medium. It is the worst game engine I've ever experienced. Sure the draw distance is nice, but the details are horrible(proof in the many videos of the game on YT). I haven't played Crysis 2 yet, and probably never will. To me it looks like it got way too liniar. And I loved the fairly open map in the original.
@tachsniper God you PC fanboys just do not listen. I split my time between my PC and my PS3 equally. So I play plenty of PC games. I am also capable of runnning Crysis on the highest settings, and it certanly does not have equal graphics to KZ3 or U2. Which is quite fair seeing as both those games came out years later than Crysis. Branding someones computer as "lame" is just downright childrish when you know nothing about my PC. Now I haven't tried The Witcher, so my ocmparison was done using HD videos found on the web. Granted that's not the best way of comparing it. I've said from the beginning that the PC is the most powerful platform. No arguements there. However, not a lot of developers are pushing the PC games forward in graphics. Which isn't really necessary either, seeing as out games today look pretty damn good. And btw. My tv is a Phillips 42 inch full HD. So the HD resolution fits just perfect for it.
@Jawehawk-DK lol one question ...do you still believe in Santa??? ...kidding but the question is do you think L.A. Noire has better graphics than Mafia 2 >>????.....let me guess it would be yes because in your mind the draw distance the effects and sharpness are equal on the comp.and consoles.... and maybe you think ARMA's 2 graphics are the same with Killzone (just an example) because killzone is candy for eys but in fact is far inferior to arma2 graphics because of the distance the engine needs to render and many other things.................but enough with stupid things graphics aren't the soul of a game , they are the body and the soul is the gameplay .....as for crysis 2 , IT'S crap when comparing with the first one hopefully the console community will get the taste of a wonderful game
This is definitely cool, been wanting to try out Crysis. I bought Crysis 2 for the PS3 and loved it so I'm sure I'll love the first one also. Wait, I don't need to wait for this, I finally have a PC that can run Crysis perfectly.
Hmm,I personally think Crysis is the best of the 3,but half of the games entertainment quality is from the user made mods and Sandbox mode which is really time consuming if you put forth some effort. O yeah I almost forgot to post the cliche staement; "Pc ftw!"
crysis 2 as an individual shooter is a solid shooter but when you compare it too crysis and warhead..........................OH MY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been looking into playing Crysis 2, but if the original is coming the the Xbox360, then I may wait to try the original out first.
Console owners should be excited considering Crysis and Warhead are significantly more fun than Crysis 2.
Sweet, never played this one. Though crysis2 had a pretty good story, I'll definitely try it when it's released
uhhhhh.........could we just stop this argument, and wen im sayin this dont think of me as a naive person , but lets face it its pointles
@nikon133 Graphics aren't the only point PC games have the advantage of mods and user made maps as well some of which can be amazing (check out a halflife2 mod called black mesa) there's also server size advantages BF3 for example on PC will sport the proper sized 32vs32 size games which is how if you've played BF2 it's meant to be played Ofc I'm not saying PC is better for everything it comes down to the types of game and personal preference BF3 is an easy choice for me gotta be on PC while MW3 I'll be getting on my PS3 due to being able to play with my friends
@nikon133 Even though you provide good insights into why people would want a console over a PC, you could've done it with a bit more maturity. I think it's a safe bet that when comparing people that buy consoles over computers, or vice versa, the main factor is usually the flexibility or lack thereof. I have a PS3, and before this generation I've owned all types. Gamecube, Xbox, PS2, countless portables. I mostly play on PC, but with PC gaming comes a certain required level of savvy (and frustration) to be sure everything is playable etc. I think consoles have a lot of appeal to them because you KNOW that all games and official hardware made for it will work (unless of course the developers seriously do something wrong, anyway). A lot of people don't want to bother messing with specs, cords, configurations, drm, networking etc. just to play a game. You just sit down, push power, wait for the bootup and stick in a disk. That's why I've always respected consoles, and why I broke down and bought a "next-gen" console, years back even though I had a nice performing gaming PC rig.
@maverick_76 weird it wasnt supposed to be empty... anyway it was a quad core 3.2Ghz, 8 gig 1600 ram, and a AMD 6950 with a decent case and audio card.
@tachsniper The shopping cart was empty. Either a witty good joke or you forgot to tell us sometihng....
I'm failing to understand what is it with kids and pixel-drooling. Sure hi end - or even mid range PC nowadays - have better graphics than consoles... but if game you want to play is not available on PC, that argument becomes completely pointless. In addition... I have both solid PC and PS3. PC is aging a bit but still going strong, with Core 2 Quad, ATI 6870, 8GB RAM and other goodies. It is 2 years old but still plays all games in high to max details. However, I play more on PS3 than on PC. PC is almost reserved for Left for Dead 2 that I play with my colleagues, Team Fortress 2... and not much more. Of course graphics count, but if console has graphics good enough, I don't care if it can be better. As a result, I got multiplat games like Crysis 2 and Bad Company 2 on console, even after I checked them on both platforms. Sure PC version looked sharper, but I traded some looks for cheaters-free online gaming and comfort of playing rom my favourite recliner; I'm working in IT and, after 8 hours behind 2 monitors, keyboard and mouse, I do value changing position a bit. So yeah, my console visuals are not as good as PC visuals, but you know what? I see that only for as long as I want to pixel-peek. Once I actually start playing game and get immersed, I completely stop noticing that... because, like I said, console graphics are not as good, but on its own they are good enough not to spoil the game.
Here you go for $850 a PC that will blow away any console. http://secure.newegg.com/Shopping/ShoppingCart.aspx?Submit=view
@nanorazor When the industry stops pitting everything against everything else then the fans will too. Don't blame us for something the industry itself encourages with articles like this http://www.gamespot.com/news/6322021/the-battle-for-budget-graphics-amd-lynx-vs-intel-sandy-bridge and seriously name one thing a console can do better then a gaming PC? Price? nope because unless your playing a PS3 on an old knob CRT, you had to buy TV for it, so your looking at about say.... 700ish, thats a very decent gaming PC that will blow a PS3 or 360 away.
Why do need to care what other people buy? And why do we have a urge to show off? Intel vs AMD vs Nvida vs Sony vs Microsoft vs Nintendo etc They are just making $money$ and influencing gamers to buy their product. Do I need to talk about Pros and Cons of each platform until you people understand the Advantages that One individual platform does NOT have. Stupid Fan boys these days just a bunch of Ignorant individuals controlled by Business Marketing
@godzillavskong 4 computers and not one is even a budget computer? That's stupid as hell. I built my PC with only 600 bucks and it plays most new games on high settings. When I went overkill and crossfired, it plays everything max.
@ Jawehawk-DK I don't know what kind of computer you have, but when I play the Witcher 2 it takes a crap on Uncharted 2 graphically. I love the Uncharted but it's obvious you don't do much PC gaming.
@ killa32130 "Not everyone can afford a higher end computer" is a lame excuse for not PC gaming. It's cheaper to put together a budget gaming PC than to buy a cheap PC and a console. We're at the end of this console generation so just about anything you make will have far more graphical power than a PS3 or 360.
@tachsniper Sorry, i got Jawehawk-DK and xdude85 comment mixed up. I thought you were talking to xdude85. And yes saying nothing compares to Uncharted or Killzone is foolish.
