First game from Polish startup Flying Wild Hog due in stores this September.
Between CD Projekt Red (The Witcher 2), People Can Fly (Bulletstorm), Reality Pump (Two Worlds II), and City Interactive (Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2), there's a passel of Polish game studios making their mark on the industry these days. Another name can be added to that list, as Flying Wild Hog today revealed its first project, the cyberpunk first-person shooter Hard Reset, in PC Gamer.
Set for release this September, Hard Reset is set in a bleak future at humanity's twilight. Under assault from robotic adversaries, civilization has contracted down to a single city called Bezoar. Players will take the role of military veteran Major Fletcher, who slowly uncovers the truth behind the cataclysmic conflict. The game will make use of the studio's Road Hog engine, which was built from the ground up for Hard Reset.
With a roster of 35 employees, Flying Wild Hog is a pastiche of developers with experience elsewhere in the Polish gaming scene. Specifically, the studio lists People Can Fly, CD Projekt Red, and City Interactive among its workers' previous employers. For more on Hard Reset, check out the teaser trailer on the game's official website.
@MrOnage I know theres not much have revealed. But the concept seems good, though I dont know whats in it till the game comes out
@Darth_Kane Considering it's a PC exclusive, it doesn't really need all that much advertising, I'd say. Things like steam ads/deals and news coverage should do the trick, hopefully.
I hope for more PC-centric developers. :P The tradition always said: ............................................................................................................................ - First come to PC and become masterpiece hits / sleeper hits ............................................ - Then goes bigger and become multi-platforms .......................................................................................................................... - Then become dumbed down a lot ............................................................................. - Then fans and developer(s) hate each other. :P
@parrot_of_adun Indeed. We are brothers in hyperbole. @made_u_look You silly nonce. I'm a PC gamer myself, I just happen to have a sense of humour about the whole issue.
Cyberpunk setting? PC exclusive FPS? Polish developer? I'm impressed. I wish the studio the best of luck.
I think it's too early to judge, these teasers are never indicative of the final game. But I agree, cyberpunk settings are usually promising.
@Rocker6 Deus ex had one of the best plot in games IMO, so many twist, conspiracies, politics. You cant get any better than that and not just because it is a cyberpunk game means is gonna be good.
@MrOnage Cyberpunk settings always have a lot of potential to make a great story even if it at first sounds simple.Deus Ex at first sounded to me like another futuristic terrorist fighting game, but then story developed in completely unexpected way.Just add a few consipiracies, some unexpected twists and good world background, and you have a interesting cyberpunk story.
Cyberpunk! I'm definitely going to pick this game up when it comes out, just for that reason. This makes me want to play Burn:Cycle again. Someone should do a remake of that game, too.
@BATTLE123HAWK plot? what plot? did i miss something? you mean shooting some robots to sh*t? sorry but without further details you can't really say its a good plot right?
More Cyberpunk, yay! But isn't September way too soon for a game that was just announced? Low marketing == low sales unfortunately
Is it just me or was anyone else thinking Final Fantasy VII looking at the footage of the city in the trailer?
May be good may not, can't tell from that trailer From recent form you can't go too wrong with the Polish devs atm so I'm intrested
@Phil-teh-Pirate PC gamers tend to ignore the ignorant nonsense you fanboys spout. Most gamers have a nice rig and console for the exclusives. But I never see a PC gamer go on a 360/PS3 post and talk nonsense like you.
Looks interesting I'm a big fan of cyberpunk like Blade Runner Dark City etc. I wish someone would make a new Vampire Bloodlines Masquerade really liked that game.
@wavelength121 Or the game will bring brand new concepts about gameplay, level design and story, like Stalker, The Witcher and Metro 2033 did. We need people who take risks and "dare" to inovate.
Worth to add, there's also another Polish studio - Techland (Call of Juarez, nail'd and soon Dead Island).
In small gaming studios like this who actaully care about customers and games, and not only about making huge profits lie the future of gaming.Hopefully game will be good, trailer looks promising. If its at least half as good as Witcher 2,I will gladly support it!
@wavelength121 First off the mentioned Devs that these guys came from have never made buggy games. I know this because i have all of the games that they have made. second just because they are a foreign devs does not mean that they are going to be buggy. The biggest issue you might have is language translation with the scripts ie:Resident evil 1 bad. Third the devs mentioned also have a pretty big reputation in the States and other countries as having very solid titles. As to the stories not making sense, well that all depends on the way in which the player interprets the story given, Some get it others don't.
Haha... That java code scrolling idea in the website is awesome!!! I'm tired of playing every other FPS just to get the feeling of playing Doom3 back!!! I WANT DOOM 4!!!! Of course I'm gonna play this... Looks good!!! I hope it doesn't turn out like Metro... I didn't like it...
I have a monster rig desktop as well as the consoles am wondering why the fanboy hate? I am definitely looking fwd to this because Cyberpunk hasn't been done enough. I think everyone should have the right to enjoy a game not just console fan boys or pc elitists..that being said I don't agree that when a game is ported for either pc or console they don't optimize for said platform they sacrifice a lot just to bring it out which I don't agree with...so I hope to hear more about this game and I am buying it for sure.
@PumpkinBoogie I did but from the trailer you cant see any gameplay footage, yes they can say anything they want but the reality is always different as they present it or they say is going to be.. BTW i didnt say i hope is not an FPS i say i hope is not another common fps, i mean add some cool things not just go from point A to Point B, auto regenerating health, and just shoot spawns after spawns of enemies is more clear now?
Finally, another PC exclusive (at least until they release a multiplat sequel with childish gameplay and those bad ported control schemes); "Flying Wild Hog was formed from members of People Can Fly (Painkiller), CD Projekt RED (The Witcher 2), and City Interactive (Sniper: Ghost Warrior)" Are you kidding me? It's like reunite DaVinci, Michelangelo and Hieronymus Bosch to paint something for us!!

It's short and occasionally frustrating, but the fireworks display that is Hard Reset is still a blast.
